Another new condition American padlock, this time the series 790. After picking & gutting I put in countermilling in three chambers and was amazed at how much longer it took to pick. Simple procedure that took only 10 minutes increased picking time by a factor or.....oh, watch the video...😀

Pantyhose are more compact in your pocket and can be used to stop things jingling in your pocket and well as a rudimentary water filter or mask in a pinch. Just sayin'

You might have better luck clearing out a bar if you just told everyone that you were wearing panyhose and were considering taking them off. I guess it depends on the bar.

No Anti-Bypass wafer because it's a non-bypassable design and key retaining. The tailpiece and cam line up at a flat surface (instead of a 90 wedge on the cam side) so if the core doesn't turn, neither will the cam. Also there wouldn't even be any space to slip a bypass tool into the lock.

That's the same tool I use to undercut mine! :) I must be on the right track. Glad to know the tip on the bible though, had not figured out how to do it w/o ruining the shear line

Nice tip for countermilling the bible. But personally I like to use a "sacrificial pin" when countermilling the core. Just throw in a standard pin in the core to set the depth of the head of the dremmel bit to exactly where you want it to be and you will not have to worry about going too deep or slipping up to the shear line. But it will ruin the pin so never use one from the lock you are working on.

So i saw how much effort you put in to audio and i don't want to make light of your efforts so take this as you will. In the first half of the video there's a sort of vibrating sound that occurs, it's quite noticeable at 3:56 when you say "standardisation" listen to the S syllable at the beginning. HOWEVER what's interesting is that the vibrating sound is completely gone after you jump cut to the second picking at 11:07. It does not occur at all after that point.

I was thinking you maybe could have relocated the spools to the high cut pins and undercut those to make them way more effective. It ended up working great though, another awesome video! Thank you!

I stopped wearing pantyhose in the summer cause when I sweat they "ride up" somethin fierce and it's extremely uncomfortable especially while riding my rigid Harley with my daisy dukes on, aaaaanywaaaayy that's a cool lock Mr.Bill I definitely will be getting a couple to play around with

What size is the burr that you used to do the undercut? or even the Dremel part number?

Is rounded undercuts preferred over straight undercuts? I have been thinking of putting the core in a lathe to shrink the diameter of the core and then put a sleeve on the core to create a sharper undercut.

Hey Bill, just watched the last challenge lock over at LPL and then saw your latest two. I was wondering, have you picked up enough new information to maybe go back and reattack some of those bucket locks? Seeing the two of your videos it was clear to me LPL was able to skip a lot of preliminary work by knowing your style and go-to methods. I suspect after seeing him pick them you have some new tools in the methods kit now? Love the videos, as always you make it interesting and fun!

Soo ... did you change something on your camera? The Focus blur is crazy. Seems like a new lens. Really like the background blur - gives more focus on the Lock and Pins themselves. Seems like you have a new camera to me. If you try to change the Focis point to something like CENTER, you should prevent the camera from going nuts by trying to focus on the tray in the back and then to your hand. PS: Maybe use a little stopped down aperture so you have a teeny tiny bit more in your focus plane? At least this is what I gather from this video. Thanks for this and keep up the awesome work. I need to get more time and get picking again :-)

No bypass wafer because it is a half circle tail instead of a quarter circle therefore key retaining and the actuator has no free space to rotate.

Great work on that lock! :) I would probably have swapped one of the spools with one of the serrated driver pins in front, so that at least one of the spools was over a short key pin - then the spool would have more room to take advantage of the undercut :)

In hindsight, that is exactly what I should have done. I was trying to make minimal changes but that would have been smart.

I was also wondering - how does undercutting in the bible help when there is no spool element on the key pins? I thought that it might trap the upper part of the spool pin, if the key pin is short enough, but if the undercut is rounded, the end of the spool pin wouldn't get caught when pushed up into the bible..? Anyway - my thought was that a square dremel head would make a sharp inner edge to the undercut which would stop a spool from being pushed up into the bible if the key pin is short enough to let this happen ... but that would probably also be the case when using the key ... soooh, probably not a good idea anyway ^_^

Hey Bill, just a casual question: Why not empty the core through the holes made to drill out the bible? Seems way easier than all the trouble with the follower when those holes are available. Even if you can only do it with the core pins, it would make it far less risky than the follower, no? It would be just like gutting the core, but with some extra brass on the back, that's all. And afterwards, you can still use the follower for the bible pins if they don't fit into the core.😊

Yes, new Sony R100 V and I'm filming at 60fps instead of the old 29.97fps. It is a much nicer camera than the outdated WX220.

Ben Stone Dremel has a similar bit with a cylindrical shape instead of a ball. That’s my secret weapon.

Bill: the chirping and echoes only come through on lower resolution playback. At the higher resolutions- 480 and above- there is no chirping. Don’t know if this helps or notz

This isn’t the case for me. I hear it clearly even at 1080, though I will admit it may be very slightly less than at 240 or 480. Also, the noise virtually disappears at the jump cut before the second picking. From that point on it is at least 99% gone!

Nice work Bill, that countermilling is a wicked method! The lock in the panty hose... well.. sometimes a man has to do what a man has to do I suppose. Especially if its some sort of government / military op. Anyway, what on earth are you doing using that circlip removal tool?? Get tired of everyone giving you hell? You were always my explanation when I would get grief for the screwdriver method.. "well, bosnianbill does it this way"...

Hey BosnianBill, I’m a lock picker who’s trying to get his hands on a lock with some tricks like countermilling or other. I want to have a lock that’s especially challenging but can be picked with as basic of tools as possible, and I was hoping you could point me in the right direction. Any help is appreciated!

The only commercial locks that I know of that have countermilling are the older Ruko oval locks, and they can be difficult to find and expensive. Better, get yourself a training lock from Learnlockpicking.com and countermill a few of the chambers yourself. THAT will keep you busy for a while!

I just came from Walmart. And then while I was there, I saw the lock from this video (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LIgk-TN6WXM.html). Then I got home and saw RU-vid highlighted that video with that lock on my RU-vid home page. I watched the video where Bill shims the combo lock and it made me wonder if any of y'all have ever tried returning a lock to a store by showing how it could be bypassed in seconds? That thought made me laugh "Hey check this out... *Click!* I want my money back." Heh

So, if it took that long with 3 chambers, how long would it take with more? And what about changing the order of the key pins and cutting a new key?

More is not always better. They were strategically placed to go along with the spools, since undercutting seems to be most effective with spools. He could have gone further and done some threading on the other chambers, but that wasn't what the video was about.

No, but he did say he didn't like the bitting. So he could have rekeyed it and cut a new key to suit.

Possibly. But he also indicated that it wasn't his lock, though he did have permission to modify it. I'm sure he could have totally rebuilt the lock any number of ways, but, I suspect that the point was to show how to undercut, and its effects.

Snertyo- I stopped listening to the video before the break, the noise was so bad. I did start it up about 10:00 and continue from there, after seeing your post, and indeed it seems to have improved 100%. I know Bill has taken extraordinary steps to combat this and perhaps he finally has got rid of it. Musti 1, Aquachigger, Nuggetnoggin,Bigclive.com, Hickock45, and many others I watch don't have the sophisticated equipment Bill has, (well, mebe not) and none of them have any scritchy noise. Congrats Bill.Thank you.

I prefer a tube sock with a bar of soap, but I guess you always have pantyhose on hand considering your lifestyle thats ever so evident after watching (92)
