It’s no secret that your grandpa is Elder Richard G. Scott of the Quorum of the Twelve apostles, but what happens when he finds out there’s something you’re keeping secret?
Identifying as bisexual and polyamorous, coming home from his mission early, listening to conference talks written specifically about him, and honoring his happiness over tradition; Craig Call, the grandson of Elder Richard G. Scott found his own path and he shares his story with the LatterGayStories audience.
Craig opens up about the preferential treatment he received growing up, the inner-workings of Mormonism, and what he’s learned from life’s lessons. He also answers audience questions!
The video version is available on our Facebook and RU-vid channels. The audio version is available everywhere you catch your favorite podcasts!

The more I learn about the LDS church, the more negative my view of it, EXCEPT for all these extraordinarily articulate, thoughtful, and large-hearted people I see on the podcasts. They came from the church and love it. So,…I don’t know what to think.

Thanks for answering my question Craig on Where do you draw your strength. I love your answer. I've been feeling the same thing as I've been stepping out of the closet. Live for myself. Appreciate it.

This man is truly extraordinary. He had to swim with way more sharks than most people. But instead of running away from them, he grabbed them by the teeth and prevailed.

Thank you again for another excellent interview. One thing I notice is that all of you are very smart and your faith has made sure that you are well educated, particularly in the area of logical skills. That translates into having the acuity to work your way out of the fallacies created by religion. You all do an outstanding job of demonstrating how to do that.

For anyone who believes that being gay is made up, I truly feel like living in Utah as a majority Mormon people and the high demands of the religion should show that being gay isn’t created by the culture. They have extreme purity culture. I will never not believe these kids are born this way. My daughter that grew up as a real proper young lady almost committed suicide because she was so ashamed to have to tell me and her father that she didn’t like boys. I cried so hard that she thought that was a option. I always told my kids that I’d love them NO MATTER what!!!

Craig; fascinating. Polymath indeed. You exhibit the gifts of the Spirit - per Galatians: 22,23. I try to figure out things in terms of God, me as a child of God- my Father - and the Church. God is Love; he is on my side with my journey; the Church has bumps, scrapes - and sometimes much worse. Jesus defined His Church -'upon this rock I will build my church'. And so often we hear Church leaders saying ' upon our rock we will build our Church'. This is not for me to condemn - but me to remind myself that we can all screw up - especially those who 'insist'.......... I recognise your journey. You learn; you lean into the wisdom you are given. Great stuff - or 'cool'. Trevor

Interesting interview. Overall, I felt sad for Craig. Even though he was given privilege others did not get, he was played by the system hoping he would rise to a place that would support LDS, Inc. leadership's erroneous beliefs. He, like all the rest of us, that were impacted by LDS, Inc. often times horrid practices and counsel, the very best to us as we go on our journey. God creates LGBTQ, God has a purpose, sad, LDS, Inc. leadership are so caught up in their own personal beliefs and prejudices they are unwilling to find out that purpose.

I thought the term for someone who takes more than 4 years to finish high school is a "super senior". So, since Craig served more than 24 months as a missionary, he was a "super missionary". /s

Such a neat guy -- handsome, bright, talented, and personable. He reflects credit on his family. There’s a limit to how much sexual regimentation a family or a religion can impose on an adult. But there is virtually no limit to how much regimentation a metastatic government can impose on people of faith.

Very confusing. Was this program about Craig's life or about his grandfather's life?

As a non-Mormon gay person looking from the outside, despite the criticism which I'm sure is valid, your families and church have done an impressive job educating and forming good people.

Leave! Run Fast! Don't look back! Before it's too late! Just kidding....IT'S NEVER TOO LATE! LOL The Mormon Church "history" and "story" have more holes than a fishing net and is based entirely on made up stories. In other words, Joseph Smith LIED, about EVERYTHING, and the leaders of the Church just perpetuated and continued that lie propping it up like a body surfer at a rock concert. No Church leader dares to be the one who "drops the ball", so to speak. No church leader will ever admit to it because their ego won't let them come clean. The ego hates to be wrong, and loves to be right. Nothing sounds more right than "The one and only true church on the face of the planet." Nothing is more of an elixer of power than to claim that "as the one and only true church, we have all the answers, so listen to only us. We will save you." NO ONE will save you! You have to save yourself. Save yourself from the lies and deception of any and all organized religion and that includes Christianity, the other BIG LIE.

@@China-Clay, were you really abused? Being taught to keep the Law of Chastity is not abuse. Did someone hit you, cuss you out, call you names?
