Freewayjim Also want to commend you on the equipment you use for these videos, Jim. Extremely clear and vivid. I like the fact you showed everything you used at the end of the vid along with the songs. An extra special detail not all videographers would do.
I agree, both daughters live there now and they love it. One works in an art gallery on High Street, very chic. I think Columbus is beautiful, especially the area around Arlington and Clintonville.
@@DavidWildmouth a lot of ass holes you are correct but if you came across me you'd see it ant everyone and I grew up in the hill so if I can be nice and respectful and say hi how ya doin anyone can
I love Columbus. I live about an hour away and go there to see as many Blue Jackets games as possible! It really is a great city! Thanks for the videos, Jim!
Really well done video. I lived in Columbus for 6 years and still miss it. The amount of civic pride there is amazing, and the people are great. My favorite view of Columbus was always exiting from I-670 going south on 3rd street I believe. The whole city really unfolds in front of you from that direction.
the scioto mile is under construction right now but will be awesome when finished. i do a lot of car photo shoots all around that area. really nice spot. right in front of cosi also is very nice for taking pics/videos of downtown cols! awesome video btw!
Very good video, looks like a very pretty city. I live in Australia and I am planning to do a USA Road trip in 2018. Columbus will definitely be a destination.
Nice ride! Music was good too- Columbus has changed since I was down there in 1996! Nice ride! Bought back some memories of downtown Columbus and exploring Columbus in 1995-96 and seeing the city- and yeah, I always liked I-670 but never got on that one that much... nice ride!
Awesome video! Thanks for filming! Vets Memorial is gone now they tore it down to build a park! I love Columbus I moved away several times to D.C, Chicago always end up coming back! People talking bad about downtown but its come along ways the last 5-10 years and it continues to grow and get better always fun on Vine street, Campus, German village!
+Freewayjim I watch all you videos I really enjoy them! When are you going to Chicago I love the freeways and city views up there! I would go on Saturday or Sunday tho to avoid traffic!
Just wanted to say thank you for this video. I'm from South East Asia and hoping to one day live in the US, been looking at different cities and this is definitely one of my favorites so far!
My favorite part of downtown is the blue jackets Arena and the Columbus crew stadium. I'm going to a bluejackets game on Thursday for my birthday so i'm pretty excited about that.
Nice Job Brian & Jim! Can't wait for Cincinnati. For some reason Pittsburgh & Cincinnati have the same setting of a city due to both cities in foothills & next to the Ohio.
The two things I know about Columbus Ohio. It's where the Columbus Blue Jackets play, and it was the city that the old 80s sitcom "Family Ties" took place. I like getting tours like this :-D Some neat architecture there. What's that tall gothic looking building at 6:27?
We have German Village and Hungarian Village. Look up Olde Towne East on Flickr to see some of the homes that are still here. The LeVeque Tower is the big, tall, white one you see on the skyline. It's all office building so you can't just walk on in there but it's in the Art Nouveau style. You can see the Supreme Court building with blue lights in front when the driver makes a U-turn from the Main Street bridge. (Speaking of that bridge, try to slow the video down and look to the left when going over the Rich St. bridge. You may see a 7-foot Deer buck leaning over the railing. I found this out by walking under it and thinking someone was about to jump. Ran over the bridge and nearly shat bricks at how tall and lifelike it is. It's fucking terrifying!! There's a total of four more laid around the river and each scared the shit out of us.) The Supreme Court building is completely open to the public and is jaw-dropping. Green granite walls, ceiling, and floors. White and green marble inlays on every square inch. It's also Art Nouveau but in an American Indian style with bow and arrow light fixtures, tamahawk door handles, and if you look around the top outside it has the entire history of Ohio's Native Americans carved in the marble. The stairs are a Greek relief with frescoes of gods made with tiny shards of glass and marble 20 feet up the walls and all down the stairs. It's also adorning the outside of the main doors, all over the ceilings out there. Every stair and door handle is hand brushed brass that was originally installed in the 1920's. Too beautiful for words and didn't know I just walk in there until a few years ago. The State house on High St. is exactly the same but I haven't had the chance to browse around that yet.
Great video of my city Freewayjim. It would have been great to have heard some music created in Columbus from Cap Soul and others. Numero Records Group has a great retrospective. Thanks again! jf
Columbus is the nicest major city in Ohio (my opinion). I competed in special olympics a few times there. I mostly go on the Columbus's north side for the map expo that was held in 2011 and 2012 in the suburb of Dublin and been to both and I will see the Ohio State football game next year there. For those who say Columbus is bad, go two hours northeast of Columbus especially on it's east side, it is worse.
Such a beautiful video. I love this time of night, where the city lights comes on and this was a very enjoyable ride. Thank you Freewayjim! I'm looking forward to Cincinnati video(s), the city that I grew up in many years ago. Will you be riding downtown during evening time as well? Whatever you do, you make it awesome!
Thank you Zynyster, yes I have many Cincinnati videos, here is one from 2014 in the dusk to dark lighting conditions. ru-vid.com?o=U&video_id=I-bz4Sm0Zxk
Freewayjim Thanks Jim! Yes, I have seen that Cincinnati city downtown at dark, very cool, I enjoyed it. I'm looking forward for more goodies of Cincinnati since you are going there next. Thanks again Jim for your time and have a wonderful day!
real nice--I never ever heard that version of that song by The Isely Brothers, that is like wow!!! Had to play this video 6 times to hear that song again in that original version. Nice choice of music from the artists that are from Ohio.
Jim, if you had enough time, is there anywhere else you would have filmed in Columbus? And is there any chance of doing any filming in Indianapolis anytime soon?
I don't know, we think we pretty much covered the more interesting points of the city, if we had more time we would have tried some different approaches to downtown I suppose. No, I don't see myself in, letting alone filming in Indianapolis anytime soon.
Very nice video, but it is rare to see Columbus like this on a regular basis. With the daily rain/thunderstorms and harsh wintery conditions from October - April, you're lucky if you get to see the city like this twice a week. Nevertheless, very nice ride through.
Awesome drive! You make their downtown look much better haha But would've been interesting if you ventured into high street or germantown i think they're very close to downtown c-bus !
Freewayjim The HighwayMan ANOTHER video from you two? Wow, I never seen that before. Well, have a blessed day and I like the music and the video. Nice scenery at night too. See you next Monday.
Freewayjim I got 4 questions: 1. What happened to the flyover ramp? Did a car crash? 2. Is the road new or not when you went to the flyover ramp? 3. Does The HighwayMan live in Columbus OH? 4. Is Columbus the capital of Ohio?
Could you please do a video of you from New Haven to New London CT or Providence to Boston or Hartford to Worcester? Your videos are great and I'd hope to see one of those videos if your in the area ;)
Thank you. No, I won't be making any of those videos you mentioned, the cities are OK but the roads between them are quite boring, I don't film for the sake of filming, I try to film things I think most of the audience would find interesting.
Buckeyes Fan Columbus will soon overthrow Cincinnati as Ohio's most populated metro. Demographers said Cbus will pass Cincy in metro population by 2025. Cincinnati is not more urban than Columbus because last I checked Cbus had about the same density rate as Cincy in 2010.
Hi. How ya doin'? Sorry, But I have been SOOOOOOOOOOOOO Busy!!!!!! But, its Thanksgiving Break. So, I am sure I can get SOMETHING up. I have a Video from Lake Charles that turned out great, and all I have to do is put Music to it and add the credits. So, I am hoping soon! Oh!, I almost forgot to tell you. You are doing an awesome job with this trip! Great job with this Video, can't wait to see what Cincinnati brings!
No, I am saying That I am going to post a video over my 1 week break Because I have not posted anything in 4 months. I have not had time because its really busy here.
+Ossama Ali Thanks, I purposely try to film when there is minimal traffic and that of course includes Sundays but like I said, I get what I can when I can get it, many attempted videos have been canceled due to traffic...good question though. This video was shot on a Monday night if I recall.
Seems like you really do a LOT of research about the roads of each area before you go to it! You know right where to go, and when/where to turn, at every place you do a video! It's quite impressive to me! :)
