It’s great listening to the demos and realizing Hawaii: Part II is actually like 16 different albums crammed into one.

this version is gives me tally hall vibes but the completed one gives me miracle musical if that makes sense

i think he sings this to himself in the actual album after he goes back in time, hence why "I" turns into "you"

I like this better than the album version for some reason. Feels a lot like a kind of song from the 40's or 50's, mixed with a hawaiian style.

Idk if it’s just me but I think These demos make it seem like they were working on a 3rd album for tally hall but they couldn’t get together fully in one place at the same time so they had to make it a different, independent project.

i feel like the album version is a sort of comfort song, while this is a story about a narcissistic man believing he is being hurt by everyone around him and that he is an isle unto himself. also i like this more .)

Honestly i prefer this version more than the final version, just if it had higher production value it would've been like genuinely something I wish would've been in the final album

WHY IS THIS SUCH A BANGER NO MATTER WHAT 💥💥💥💥 (Isle Unto Thyself is my favorite as well as Dream Sweet in Sea Major) It's clear that they made this song from mostly if not all first person to mostly second person as someone talking about someone else instead of themself which actually is kind of a theme with Miracle Musical vs. Tally Hall Miracle Musical tended to have this second person point of view because the music is written from an outsiders point of view while Tally Hall sounds like first person because it's heavily written in a way where It's the firsthand account of someone who was directly affected I probably sound insane but whatever 💀

I turned into you in the final version, just like murders where I turned into he. just thought that was interesting

I like to think Hawaii part II was intentioned to be another album from tally hall, the called 3rd album. But as Time passed by the project was passed to another band

i think i like the final better than this. it gives the questioning lyrics more of a questioning tone to them and i think the change from "i" to "you" was for the best also "i was a victim of magic apollo" is strangely distant in the final, whereas here its just... there. the instruments i just feel are more flat, i guess they added a little echo in the final. also the final few lyrics having a slower and quieter pace makes them feel more eerie, which i love. but i do like the echo of the song's chorus at the end.
