Dude. I follow you because I really like your content. Still, when I saw the title of this video, I hesitated. Most of these types of videos have the same type of stuff in them - needing to cut out sugar or sleeping 8 hours or staying away from negative people. This is fine but it really is stuff nearly everybody knows. Your video was truly 15 things that were useful and interesting. Thanks. Happy New Year 🥳
Rita Fields omg this is exactly what I thought, also the reason I didn’t watch this video at first when it was recommended to me, but these are actually good stuffs.

Love the attention to detail and your lack of bullshit. The best complement I ever get from people is my ability to be genuine. You seem so true to yourself on camera and in life and to share that and the knowledge that you have gained means a lot. So thank you so much for your time, kindness and candor.
I am slowly learning that some people are not good for me, no matter how much I love them. I deserve someone who is gentle and kind because my soul is getting tired. Realizing that I deserve something good is one of the first steps.
Im a nurse in the NHS. You remind me of a few of the F1s Ive really enjoyed working with over the years, I don't know where they are now but yous are all just brilliant. And this channel is so awesome because this is basically a productivity channel. And you talk about Tim Ferriss as well: Pareto, Parkinsons, Batching, etc. This is how I get things done as well. Don't know if you agree with stoicism and fear setting but if u do u should make a video out of it. And selective ignorance too. I love Ferriss and his 17 Questions to beat the impossible.
Thanx for sharing these 15 lessons... I saw ur video yasterday and today I practiced " Day highlight", "FBR" to write a paper I procrastinated on for over 2 weeks & "if this isn't nice I don't know what it is"...great day elhamdollah.Thank u again& keep going 👍🏾
Throughout the whole video I'm thinking about the first point : daily highlight. And I still don't think of one. I hope you could make a video about how to find/creat daily highlights. 😂
Exactly, I keep finding trouble of having my "most important tasks" on my daily planner. Everything seems important to do, and so I usually set a trap to myself of being falsely productive.
how about the fact that you lived? your heart managed to circulate blood all throughout your body and your lungs worked to make it possible for you to breath. or maybe that you have the fingets to type this comment? lol
Starting this changed my life. I usually set it as running or meditating, but sometimes it’s a fun thing for work or dinner or even just putting on a few episodes of tv. The book is amazing and is like $5 on Amazon. Totally changed my life!
Ali, While it was initially overwhelming to watch your content, the more I watched and re-watched, I realized how information-packed (and dare I say, wisdom-packed?) each of the videos are. You are doing TRULY great work. Thanks for sharing! Also, yours is probably one of the most under-valued and under-subscribed RU-vid channel out there. Will do my part to share it with my friends. Wish you the very best!
This might sound obvious, but I learnt to never say I’m gonna do that tomorrow, or or next week, or well in June I’ll pass my exam and it’s gonna be okay. Because we never know what’s gonna happen, especially with Corona , now we all know that nothing is sure and predictable.
I’m late to this party but wow, this guy is probably the best RU-vidr I’ve come across. To the point Funny No dribble Genuine personality and not that fake ass ‘Hiiiiiii, welcome to my chanaaaallll’ 🤮 Love his content! So making my kids watch him. Thank you Ali.
This is the best “lessons” video I’ve seen. It doesn’t have too many clichés and ones that are are presented in a new fresh manner. Also it’s so organized. So, thanks for the effort you put forth.
Omg Ali your detail of editing is just incredible. My adhd brain just loves that little lower time frame bar just running towards the end. Always supporting your great content!
This is not just the 15 life lessons Ali Abdaal learned in 2019, it is also brilliant compilation of the works of writers we might not have come across before. I particularly like the one about The Flywheel. Thank you Ali.
I came to the channel wondering which iPad (pro) I should get, but stayed because I have been intrigued by self improvement for a while, and you seem to present the lifestyle I aim for. Thank you, for being who you are!
Loved the Flywheel analogy because we all know this but it's a simple way to remind yourself when you are in the beginning of something new that is a lot of hard work.
"What's obvious to you might be amazing to others." To expand on the point you made about being open to sharing and not fearing that it might be obvious to everyone, when someone does share something that is obvious to you, but they are clearly excited about it, don't shit on them and rain on their parade. Be happy for them. I've seen far too many instances where people share something they discovered and are happy about, and someone else will say, "How did you not already know that?" Don't be that asshole.
Yeah, I swear. But I guess that's just how people are. So while people should keep in mind to be polite, I feel like the one who is explaining should also be prepared to be confronted by this kind of rude reaction
Hi Ali, I might be the last person to watch this but this has really got me so inspired. Came across so much of the life advice I have been looking for. Thank you very much doc!
#4 really hit me. "What is obvious to you is amazing to others". I know I can be a ass about things very often, but I really should adopt this mindset.
I love the "Wright off day", I've been practicing it lately to make sure I take a break in between learning days and it made me feel more relaxed and increased my productivity on learning days
Hi Ali. I just really wanted to give a genuine comment about all of these life advice. I tried applying nearly all of these for, only like, a week now but the improvements in my daily life were remarkable. I feel like this was my much needed stepping stone to increasing productivity and improving my state of mind. I especially loved 'if this isn't nice...', the flywheel and high leverage housekeeping (best one, kudos to your bro). I'm still struggling with AR and spaced repetition lol but I wanna say thanks man. Thank you for introducing me to such incredible concepts that I didn't know would tremendously aid me to be a better person. I am not bullshitting you. Genuinely, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. It may seem like a single video to you but to me, these are now phrases I will utter under my breath when I get taken down by waves of anxiety and insecurity. Much love. - A med student.
1.This is best video i watched ever. 2.Thank you for sharing this quality content. 3.Being technologically illiterate ,i can still appreciate the superb structuring of the video. 4.i am trying to figure out what those 3 poster in back drop about and what's in his book shelf. THANK YOU Dr .Ali.
It's so cute when you're all tech and know it all and suddenly you have that smile and blush as soon as you get off what you remember and get on to your own addition to the content
Hi Ali! Don't ever apologize for rambling too long because I love listening to you. You've been such an inspiration to me the past days and I just want to thank you. Keep doing what you do❤️
Hey Ali, I am so grateful and thankful for bringing us all the information that has improved my academic career in a great way.Love your content and wanna thank you heartily for changing my life.
Completely agree that it's hard to remember to enjoy the moment when it's happening! One of my goals is to appreciate the moment more rather than thinking about the next thing
Ali, you have accomplished so much in your life so far. I have two young daughters and I can only hope that I can shape their lives so they enjoy learning as much as you do. You are truly inspiring! Keep up the fantastic content.
Ali: Apologizing for the video getting too long Me: nah . Nope . Not at all . Keep going . Noting down all the points so I can apply them . Even if not all , at least some ❤️I don’t read much nowadays but you have inspired me to get started with it again .
I have been a window opener for quite while. It initially works out well as I know exactly what are waiting for me on the other side. However, life is predictably unpredictable. The more I plan, the more I can not make it according to the plan. Life is predictably unpredictable. It is not time for me to take a faith in myself and be a door knocker. Whatever it is on the other side, I would welcome those surprises. Thanks Ali, your video has been a tremendous motivation to me.
I literally get astounded everytime I watch your videos. Your videos are all about productivity I really appreciate your work man you are amazing. Your videos reveal how you are passionate about productivity and thats really good. Keep doing such great work. Pretty inspiring.
These lessons are awesome! I have been sharing your insights from your channel with my colleagues during daily stand-ups and actively getting groups to implement your productivity hacks/life lessons. This video summed the points up pretty nicely. Absolutely fantastic!
Love how genuine you are and doesn’t make it feel like you know it all and teaching people stuffs even though you are doing so. Amazing insightful content as always. Saving for future reference.
of all these effective methods (many of which I've embraced for years to great success), I certainly struggle with #10 the most. my most relaxing evenings almost exclusively follow a highly active and productive day, and when I don't feel that sense of accomplishment, I struggle to take it easy!
Extremely intelligent person who has a very likeable personality. Since he speaks fast and his videos are densely packed with valuable content, with very little fluff dialogue, you actually need to watch his videos again to be able to understand then utilize his message.
Ok, I could listen to you talk all day. Is that weird? You have an awesome voice, have a great speaking style/talent and you are speaking about amazing, worthwhile ideas - the trifecta of a great speaker. Congrats sir!
Insightful points, thank you for the digest! ... I've become a type-2-fun person with time/age: taking on physical challenges rather than lying by the pool with a book and a mojito ;-)
I'm almost watching your videos on a daily basis. I feel like your my best friend now :) I'm actually taking a note at notion from your video. thank you for sharing brother!
Just discovered you. Great video, greatly produced, you are very likable and I find your life lessons truly valuable. Had several aha moments during the video, so thank you very much!
Just wanted to drop a comment on here and say I've recently stumbled across your channel and have been really enjoying checking out your catalog of content. Super helpful and applicable no matter what aspects of life you are wanting to improve. Thank you for what you do.
The boring fundamentals sound similar to a phenomenon called "time inconsistency" where your brain is unable to relate to your future self the same way it can with the present self, which is why people sometimes cave into procrastination and the devil voice in their head of "can't be bothered or I'll just eat one more slice of pizza won't hurt or this is too much effort). There was a scientific study done on people describing themselves in a more distant future, and it's like they are describing a different person, that's how disconnected we are with our future self and what we want to achieve. Meditation does kinda make you more in touch with your future self which allows you to see the benefit of taking action in the present moment. So I guess successful people whether they are doing meditation or not are people who are able to see or remind themselves every day of what their future looks like. I'm learning so much from you Ali. Thank you :) 🙌🙌🙌 PS: I what note-taking app do you recommend nowadays, I saw your video about Notion, do you still recommend Notability?
Nice , that’s the deep psychology in aligning with our past-self, present-self, and future-self. Learned that a survey was given to people on this. Thanks for the comment.
Love it! All your videos are so high quality and just different from the rest, like I actually learn something every single time. This list would be useful for me to "high leverage housekeep" my life in preparation for 2020 lol. Looking forward to more videos from you this year!
1) Daily Highlight 2) IF this isn't nice, I don't know what is. 3) Window openers vs door knowckers. 4) What is obvious to you is amazing to others. 5) Lifelong learning. 6) The Flywheel. 7)Master Boring Fundamentals. 8) Type 1 Vs Type Fun. 9) FBR. 10) The reitoff principle. 11) The mundanity of excellence. 12) The go first rule. 13) high leverage housekeeping. 14) Inbox your brain. 15) The power of project lists.
I have come to 8:23 and i like the tips number 3 so far. By overthinking you might not get where you were today. I can relate to when i wake up and i know that thinking i won´t get all the task done, it wll be worse than if i wouldn´t do that. The time is ticking and you should do more than you say.
I am a first year medicine student in South Africa and your videos literally changed my entire approach to school and its definitely been helpful. Thank you so much
6:40 A doctor who knows how to code.... you literally are building the block of your life that will ultimately be the reason why you find one of the greatest innovations in humanity's history :)
Hello ali , i just wanted to tell you thank you a million times you have changed the game for me in your how to study videos😭 it was really hard at the beginning but im very thankful for you 😭💓💓💓 sending you so much love & blessings
I've just discovered your channel a few days ago and it's really inspiring and helpful! I'm amazed of how quickly you talk :P not a bad thing at all, and man the daily thing to focus sounds so refreshing I need to try it. Thanks for sharing
Hiya its not waffle it's great stuff. I love it so keep going. I'm a careers adviser so I'm always helping people reach their goals and analysing what will make them happy. I do all those mundane things sleep, eat, exercise but do it in clubs (well healthy eating...slimming world, joined a private gym,do regular classes so I make gym friends, bookclub etc). It keeps me committed but love it as its all social. Loving your work. Makes me want to start youtubing as I too have a research based waffle style!
Hey Ali! I just wanted to say thank you for the amazing content! I had an anatomy exam today at the body donors and i always suffer from exam anxiety. Than i watch your videos and you are always so calm and knowledgeable and kind of a role model which makes me feel better and excited!! 🙂 You really are amazing and aspiring me to do great at medschool thank you!
Omg thank you for that lifelong study! My brand is about being a polymath, which entails that you're going to learn all life; BUT I really try and encourage any person to pursue the lifelong learning ideal.
Could you make a video on how to broadly cover many topics? As you described it in another video: painting with a "broad paintbrush?" (or something like that). I think it would be really useful, as you have said, it is really easy to slip and accidentally go too deep into something when the time actually doesn't allow you to do that yet... happy new year dude :)
I love that you mentioned that sometimes things look so obvious to us but are expected to other. I' ve been thinking about this lately.. and brain inbox is great. I feel like my brain has certain capacity to store information and work on it during the day. So I decided to remove everything from my life that gives useless information ,like social media or negative news. Clearing my mind helps me to study and achieve what I want.
I never comment on videos, decided to start watching stuff whilst I create art and I have to say I just love you! the honesty, the speed you talk the passion, everything! keeping being you.
