Kind of a female specific list. However, as a guy I can relate to a couple of those things. As far as soaps etc. go, I buy one kind of bar soap and use it for everything. I agree about buying quality shoes. When I buy shoes I find a quality shoe at a good sale price and buy 4-6 pair. I am still wearing shoes I bought in the 90s that I just put on for the first time a week ago. Of course, I only have four active pairs of shoes and that includes two different grades of boots. Like you I never buy alcohol in restaurants. That is at least partly due to the fact that I drink very little these days. I agree on the checked baggage. I never check bags. When I travel by air, I carry everything in a large brief case. I tend to take older stuff that is on its way out and toss it after I wear it. Then I just buy new stuff as I need it.
@thebrokenwallet

I no longer purchase tampons or maxi pads. Years ago, I came across a product called the Diva Cup. It is a silicone cup that is inserted like a tampon. I hope this information will be useful to help someone save money. Not only does the Diva Cup save me money, but it takes up WAAAY less space in my handbag!🙏🏾🖤👍🏾
@PrettyLittleTheories7
@PrettyLittleTheories7 2 года назад
I agree. Menstrual cup is the game changer. No smell, no more waste from period, it’s a hygienic way and can be worn up to 12 hours, and after few uses people get used to it. There’s a bonus as well, I think not many people know that - while inserting or pulling out a menstrual cup, people strenghten their pelvic floor. There is not need to use strenght to insert it or pull it out. We just need to start using our pelvic floor correctly… Which is very healthy not only because we get to know our bodies, but we also get prepared for pregnancy, if not pregnant before.

1/5/22...I used to travel all over....& I learned to buy a postcard @ every stop/ on every shore excursion....That way I can DATE the postcard + I can see major attraction SPELLED CORRECTLY! I also collected a refrigerator magnet 🧲 + a key chain @ every stop/location. NOT expensive + NOT bulky + NO Customs problems. Still have all of these momentos + can remember all those good times. ALSO BOUGHT FRIDGE MAGNETS + KEY CHAINS for friends....again inexpensive + didn't take up much room in my suitcase.

Sometimes, it's worth it to pay more initially. My sandals (Naot) were expensive but now I know they were worth the money. I have three pair in somewhat different styles, worn them for years and they still perform like champions. One pair needed a repair for $38 and hopefully they will last for several more years.

Well, depending on how expensive was your shower gel. I could buy shitty Adidas for $2 or very local brand with great ingredients and none of those cancerous crap big brands are using and still spend $5. It's just not worth it, beside that this local brand makes those gels and soaps using very addictive scents. But if you were buying some designer grade gels for $50 or $20 then I second you- don't pay for brand, pay for quality. For me: I quit spending money on barbers, I've been making my own mustache and it looks as good if not better, I'm very proud of myself, and it saves me $20 bucks a month. After I do that for some time I will start buying some proper quality scissors and razors but I have to earn it (save for it). I'm about to make my first hair cut and I'm scares, but hey no risk no fun. All those prices are from Poland so I'm not sure how much would you pay for some quality soap, but I suspect it would still be about $3...

I always buy clothes when they have a sale. which is like every 3-5 weeks. I am pretty minimal and love finance. Whenever we need to buy something I buy a higher quality item that has amazing reviews and its a win-win because we have it for way longer than the previous item and it's good for the environment because we aren't buying things that will need to be replaced quickly. This also applies to furniture! Recently we needed a new couch and we bought a high quality one but waited until we could get a few hundred off. For shoes I always use Poshmark. We only buy new condition shoes that come in the box but I buy Timberland and Sperry boots. I also love vans and I get all three of these brands for a fraction of the cost on Poshmark. I usually will have to spend a good 20 minutes looking through posts but it's worth it. Another Poshmark tip is to hit the like button on the posting and then 9 times out of 10 you will receive an offer with a discount and you can still try to negotiate lower!

I get where your coming from with the shoes however focusing exclusively on price is not the way to go for this item. With shoes if you invest in a good pair you will have them for life so long as the soles can be replaced. Instead of focusing on price, shop for a quality made pair constructed of high quality materials like durable leather, a sole that’s sewn to the shoe or a leather sole. Generally if you find a pair of shoes with one of these details they are built to last. Also, if it’s cushion your worried about, just get some insoles! It’ll change your life 🔮

I was a clothes horse in my 20s and 30s. No longer. I wear comfortable clothes and shoes. It is so easy to get caught up in all the hype. I quit buying beauty supplies because I wasn't using any more. I found the Aldi brand worked better @ a fraction of the price. I think we have all learned different coping skills the past few years.

Thank you so much for your great tips.i found out along time ago ,you got yo have a budget.!I realize I was spending alot on Amazon, so I really made up my mind I have to cut-back when I saw the amount on my written down paper and bank statements ,reality set in,and ask myself,is or was that a impulse buying because we are at home more..but when I buy somethings ,I also give away ,or donate items be cause I hate clutter. and things can pile up very fast,but I also go threw my closet often,households items too,because sometimes we buy to many gadget s because they are the latest items out.i been using your tips for awhile and my own,because my sisters are financial people (retired)and another will retired in a few years,who keeps me on top of my personal issues even at 62 yrs young so thank you too!.

Me too...When I first started travelling, I purchased souvenir plates, mugs, statues, quilts, magnets, etc. I was building quite the collection. About 15 or 20 years ago, I just cut all of that way down. I primarily look for magnets and if I find a Robin Ruth bag with the country's or city's name embroidered all around it, I will purchase that. The magnets are easy to pack and I will definitely get use out of the Robin Ruth bag. I later grouped all of my plates and statues on the bookshelves in my Den and my World Travels Themed Dining Room because it just looks better in a grouping than scattered all around my home. The magnets on my refrigerators also provide that WOW factor and can be a conversation starter for anyone who visits with me. My decision was primarily based upon just not really having the interest in buying these things anymore. I believe the magnets are more than enough for me to reflect on my travels. Also, as airlines have changed their policies over the years, it's just better for me to not worry about how I'm going to pack and carry things that's bigger than a magnet.

I feel like I could have sat alongside you for most of these things on your list! We are the same on just about all of these. The handbags, shoes, jewelry, travel toiletries, carry on, smoothies, smelly bath stuff, etc. I think the only thing is the bras. Personally prefer to spend more for a perfectly fitted one and justify it because I need to wear them everyday! Oh, and I need to switch over to the microfiber instead of the Swiffer! The rest, spot on! Love your videos - thank you!! Stay well!

I love to shop the 2nd hand stores and private re-sale shops! I am constantly amazed at what I can find in clothes and things for the house. I go to the stores in the Phoenix, AZ area in the wealthier parts of town because people there have nicer clothes and household furnishings to give away or re-sell on consignment. I have found shoes at Ross Dress for Less that were brand name higher end shoes for $35 that fit like a glove and are now at least 5 years old and still holding up.

Souvenirs: yes, they become a pain, but I like the memory, so they need functionality. Most often it is one ornament that go on the Christmas tree. As I hang them, the memories of the trip or visit come back. I do not have a designer tree. The decorations are very eclectic. Skin care and body products: finding and sticking with a good brand seem to be the more economical way to go. This is a very useful question when deciding between two price points: what does the extra dollars buy me? Great video. Thank you.

Thank you and congratulation! I don't have any videos on this subject, but off the top of my head, you could ask your pediatrician for samples; get convertible gear; borrow items that are still in good, safe condition; I once read that buying at the end of the month is a great way to score deals -- more so if the salespeople earn a commission. Hope this helps!

Fancy Organic bars of soap with the flowers or oatmeal in them. I Went back to good old ivory. You get like 10 bars for $2 versus a small half bar for $6... it was really adding up Bc the fancy bars would go so fast.

My souvenirs: really special keychain for every country (or city I want to remember). I keep them all in one small box. I travel extensively (multiple countries in a year), so going through this box is really fun and takes up almost no room.

I buy cheap shoes. Sometime target has shoes for $5-10 bucks. I can wear the out and not feel bad. I also am saving for a nice gold ring. I would like to give it to my daughter when it is time. But this woman is really on point!

As far as souvenirs, I find a pretty rock or shell and write the location on it. You could make a cool bowl of them in your room/living room/ etc. with a succulent in the center.

Once the pandemic hit and the store shelves were empty I could not buy my usual brands and had to settle for cheaper products. But it taught me the "off" brand, cheaper brands were just as good. I will continue to buy the cheaper brands. I suggest try the store brand even if your usual brand is available. You might be pleasantly surprised.

I was on the designer handbag kick for many years and still have quite a few of them but have since sold a bunch of them on Poshmark. Of course didn't make back nothing that I spent on them.

I hear ya, I've spent so much money on designer handbags, now that I'm a minimalist I own 1 Louis Vuitton and sold all the rest and lost a lot of money on them and they were in amazing shape.

Its a good lesson to learn - things depreciate. Things are only worth what people are willing to pay, not what you paid for them. Learning that lesson definitely made me rethink future purchases after I tried selling my designer bags too.
