I got to try the 218i in my dad's car and I thought I'd hate it . Thought it would be another boring and diesel like boosted 3 pot. I was amazed at how sweet and revving it was. Very joyful unit to have fun with as it turned out. And that is with a standard map!
Best engine bmw ever made it won international engine of the year award and best new engine it’s such a reliable engine all BMWs are reliable specially this one because it won the awards
hey bro i want to ask you a question. I own the same car ( manual gearbox) and i did the same tune 170hp and 300nm. I woud like to know if you had problem after tune and if the car its still realible. Tnx
@@friedVHSS I have the same engine also stage 1 tune. Tuned it back in 2021 and ive had no issues until now. I change my oil every 6 months and it's my daily. only downside is I now have to fill up with 98 petrol which isn't cheap.
@@MIODEK77 I don’t own this engine nor a BMW in general but I would guess it consumes anywhere between 8-10L in city and 6-7L on the motorway if you drive it slowly. If you floor it 13-15L will be easily seen.
Hey, is it a software change only? I guess you guys are in the Netherlands, do you by any chance know if the car would still pass TÜV inspection in Germany with the remap?
Complimenti. La versione di ZF che monti è 6 marce o 8 marce? Ho visto alcuni annunci di 118i in vendita e alcune hanno 6 marce e altre 8 marce, quale consigli? Grazie
Hello. I have a same car with stage 1 and I noticed that when hard accelerating (full gas pedal press) at low rpm eg. 2000-2500rpm car is jerking and hesitating between 3000-4000 rpm. Is that result of not good remap or? I put new air filter and it was much better but its still present. And after 4000 rpm its runs normally. Or if I do a run from start then its also good. EDIT: just to to be clear I did not got tune from you guys. I am just asking a question for information and your opinions.
Probably a bad remap, in all honesty, mate - I got mine done, and it's smooth throughout the rev range. Admittedly I need to test it more in the higher gear range at 50-60MPH+, but I'll comment again if I remember after this weekend on M roads. On a side note - the remap is great and holds the car in a lower gear for longer in sports mode, much much smoother. Pre-map the car drove like it felt like it should in normal comfort and D gearbox mode and Sport mode + S gearbox was horrible and jerky, almost like it couldn't decide what gear it wanted to be in. Made it impossible to keep it smooth because the engine braking would always be different and you wouldn't naturally know where you should put the pedal after a change. This issue seems to be entirely gone now. @neny002 - I'd really consider getting it done elsewhere if you're not happy; definitely worthwhile.
@@simonwilliams69 thank you for reaponse. I alsonwanna ask, i dont have much expirience in this. Is 170hp safe dor that b38 engine will it affect relaiablity ?Usually 3 cyl engines are less durable and stock is 109hp or 136hp in 118i case.
@@neny002 When I was planning on getting mine changed, mine being a 136hp 118i LCI2 - I asked how reliability etc was, and I got a lot of different answers, to be honest. The general theme was obviously "Oh ours is safe because of this and that reason" - you catch my drift. Ultimately after some digging through the internet and information on the B38 and its different variants, I found that it's supposedly a very reliable and capable engine and that it's more than happy running up to 185hp or thereabouts. I decided to go for a safer bet at ~170hp since the place I got it from offered the longest warranty and logic dictates that a company offering a service on your vehicle that is willing to cover that work for longer, the likelihood is they're happy with the work and not some cowboy that smashes hp into a car thinking what the hell why not. I can't comment on how mine is fairing since It's still early days for me too - I notice a lot of people ask and not a lot answer and that's probably because people who remap cars are 9 times out of 10 going to get bored eventually and just get a bigger engine, especially in the case of the B38. If you're like me though, and don't want to pay a 1/3 of the value of the car on insurance each year you have to do what you have to do. The short answer to your question - I think it's safe, I think it'll still be reliable but all cars have their own issues and you have no idea if someone would have gone wrong even if you didn't remap it - let alone with putting that extra bit of work in. I'm out of warranty so I don't mind, I'd rather if something happened it was my fault anyway and I'm not covered in any case rather. Ill probably be the same, someone will likely see this in a year or two and ask me how the car is but it'll be sold onto someone else and I'll hopefully depending on insurance prices be going around in a 135 or 140
@@simonwilliams69 wow thank you for you effort and give me detailed opinions. I see bow about that jerking, i removed that remape i had, and now i will give ro mechanic ro get a full inspecion and after that i will go for stage 1 I had like 150hp i zhink and now with stock 109 is so slowwwww hahaha but i have to be patient little bit to get everything done right
@@neny002 No worries mate - again, it's just my opinion. If you're worried, I'd do some more digging and talk to others. A friend of mine (who is a bit more into the mod world than me) helped me and probably convinced me to do it. If all goes well - I'll be pleased, will just remove the remap if I decide to sell it or just sell it as it is, depending on the market! Hope all goes well with yours! With our little 3cyl engines, that +30-40 hp makes a massive difference, so it's well worthwhile.
Hi, is there an option for the mpg display. Mine is a needle , I’ve got a 2018 bmw 118i m sport but wanted to know how to make it look like the bar you have under the S5 sign.
The 116i is produced with two different engines depending on the modelyear. The 1.6L N13 4-cylinder will get 221HP & 321NM with our software. But the 1.5L B38 3-cylinder is a whole different engine. You can send your inquiry through our website to achieve the results for your vehicle.
@@damiandynski1804 I have the exact same car, and I usually do 8.6-8.9, maybe because this car has the M 18inch wheels that add weight idk, those times are 116i 109hp numbers, something is wrong with this particular one
Kenny Vanderhallen if you follow my procedure: sport+ on ( or dtc on sport), brake FULLY pressed hard, Push accelerator to the end instantly, wait a bit for the rpm’s to rise, it enters launch control mode in thr background (although it doesn’t show on the tacho). Thats why :)
@@berkperformance hello! Maybe you know the answer for my question. My car used to launch and quick shift just like this one, but then it stopped shifting like that and now only shifts normally (as usual). Why it happened? Is my gearbox dying?
hard to see. Same engine with manual needs 8.2 sec 0-100 in my Mini cooper. Eventually its the weight difference and the drag in the rear wheel drive...
