They say you'll get the most out of your surgery for 12-18 months,. I read so many things before I went down this path that told me not to take the honeymoon period for granted, to get the most out of the first 18 months post-op, and that I'd be on my own after that. Well, I'm finally here. So does this mean it's the end of my weight loss journey and the success of my surgery? Never! I'm just getting started!
I had RNY Gastric Bypass on December 1, 2020 at Mexico Bariatric Center in Tijuana Mexico with Dr. Rodriguez Lopez.
If you're interested in the footage I took on the trip and in the hospital, you can watch my Travel & Surgery Vlog here: • Weight Loss Surgery in...

Yes, absolutely! We should be so proud of everything we've accomplished in this time, it's crazy when you look back and it doesn't feel like that much time has gone by. I hear it keeps going faster and faster the older you get! 😫

Hi! I’m a new subscriber. My surgery is tomorrow (7.27.22) I’ve been following ppls journey for awhile now and agree in regards to not using the scale. I threw my scale out and planning to only take my weight at my follow up appointments

Congratulations on your success! You look so happy in this video. I am 1 week post-op from gastric bypass. I was curious if your weightloss has had any impact on your career? Or if your attitude about your professional life has changed since WLS? Is this a topic you might address in a future video? Maybe it's a non-issue? I guess you can tell its on my mind! Best, Maria

Congrats on your recent surgery and journey! I would say that the surgery for me hasn't impacted my career directly, but it may have impacted it indirectly. I feel like I am a more confident person now than I was before, and that encompasses more than just directly how I feel about my body. I think I am more firm professionally when necessary and not willing to let people walk all over me. I'm more confident when I talk to my clients and in my line of work I deal with a lot of attorneys and they like to be pushy even if they aren't correct. :P I'm not sure if it's related to the surgery or not at all because I know other things in my life have influenced it, but I also have been striving a lot more to have a better work/life balance. I will walk away, even when I have more things I could be doing for work, because my life and my personal interests are way more important than my job. Maybe some of my newer confidence has helped remind me of that as well. I have energy and motivation to get a lot of things done and participate in my life more, and I'm not going to let my job get in the way of that!

I'm so so happy for you and I hope I am able to feel similarly. I'm just over 9 months postop from my VSG and it has been a roller coaster. I'm about a decade-ish older than you and I have kids and it's interesting to see how different your experience has been than mine despite our very similar high and surgery day weights. I look forward to whatever content you decide to post for us 😊

If I've learned anything at all during all of this, it's that everyone seems to have very different experiences. It's SO HARD to not compare ourselves to everyone else's journey but at the same time there are so many factors that influence what happens along the way. I will definitely say it hasn't been an easy process for me, but what I've noticed is that the majority of my struggles have started recently and they're very much mental. Where I've been very fortunate with no physical complications and very successful weight loss, I am really running into a huge barrier now with my mental health and the changes to my personality and priorities. It's really tough on me and the people closest to me when I'm not exactly the same person as I was before. I may go into that deeper in the future but it's too raw to do a video about right now. But it's interesting to see how that is becoming the issue at this point and is leading to more struggles than I had earlier in this journey. Hang in there, we'll support each other through this!
