Awww....how sweet!!! I teared up watching this! I had a feeling it was going to be high since they were taping it...maybe $10-15K even. But what a astronomical value!!! Good for her!!! You most certainly could tell she was stunned and likely a huge blessing to come to her!! And to think it was sitting in a box in the basement for yrs!!! Luckily it was kept safe n free of damage! Very excited n happy for her! Hope they follow up with her down the road!

Wow! I have a similar hymnal but it is just the words not the notes and is newer (1883) who knew it had a monetary value. It's priceless to me as it belonged to my ancestor.

Sell it to a museum or collector that has the expertise and money to care for it properly. She has no sentimental attachment to the hymnal nor the religion. Let it go to someone who does.

I found one of these in an old church in Idaho. I was just looking it up for the doctrines in the hymns I didn’t realize that it would have been worth that much. It was really good condition too.

Where would you look books up at. I've tried on line some of the books I have found but most, nothing. German books most of the books ar all 1800's books.

@@gavinreid8351 It was a very well-maintained religious book evaluating the Bible's contexts and statement it's fullest form, and because of its age, originality, physical condition, and various authors who written it that good time ago, it was overall valued at $257,000.

She is going to hand it down to one of her kids after she makes a decision. They will have that book sold in days, and the money spent within weeks. People just don't have the same respect as they used to. It's been in the family for over 150 years, they will sell it and go on a cruise and buy a new car without a second thought. Then have nothing left to show for it.
