Be sure to pay close attention to the steering box and the fluids needed in it, my poor tractor has the steering so tight it's not worth the work, but I am going to tear it down and repair that and will make a video on it when it gets to be next on the fix list. My 5 year old and 8 year old sure do use most of my free time but I wouldn't have it any other way, lol. Thanks for commenting and please subscribe as it really helps my channel. Enjoy your new/old tractor.
I have a few acres with mostly trees but it's on a slight slope, I can't skid those logs without brakes ESPECIALLY on a hillside. Lol thanks for watching and commenting, I'm glad this video helped you, check out my logging videos with this tractor, I am constructing a automated claw to just back up and hook up without getting off the tractor, stay tuned for that, please subscribe to see more like this, thank you and happy new year
My father used to be a Allis Chalmers mechanic. He had a WD, WD45, and a CA. He is no longer with us, but he just replaced the light bulbs with 12V light bulbs, Then he reworked the starter to have a Field with 4 windings versus 2. I remember him mentioning the field coil came from some Chevy starter. The original generator has a movable brush which he adjusted to increase output to charge the battery. The generator is totally capable of keeping the battery charged. Good luck! I am a '48 model and have hundreds of hours, if not thousands of hours on WC's, WD's, WD-45, CA, and the 60 pull type combine with the burlap 'sacker' attachment! I was sacking when it took me and my twin brother to lift the sack and drop it down the slide!
Thank you for sharing that story, I miss my parents daily, I wonder what my parents would say moving away from the city life to the country. I know one thing, I wouldn't have any parking spots for all my machines, lol. Stay tuned for my bulldozer video,. Thank you for watching and commenting, please subscribe if you like videos like this.
Just bought a CA with no brakes - great walkthrough and confident I can do it. I also own an AC d17 and it's a nightmare on that machine.. have to remove the finals. Look like at least you don't need to do that here. Nice job on the C.
I think plenty of WD40 was my solution. But try this, take a propane torch to the pin and heat it up, just get it hot enough to push a candle into the seam where the pin is to get the wax to get in there, when it cools, it will draw that wax into the seam and add lubrication, I use those small tea light candles. Its sure to work. Sorry for the late reply, thank you for commenting and consider subscribing
They work great, the drums were in great shape for being over 70 years old, much better than having nothing when pushing on the pedals, watch my tractor+snow video, the brakes can be used individually for each tire. @@loadedoperator7 My Allis B is a 49, only the right brakes works a little. Just not sure how much braking will improve with new bands. Its tough hooking up tedder and rake with little brake. On mine it has a canopy that has supports welded on. Will be a little tougher. Maybe have to pull the wheels to get better access.
@@51dbail yeah this is all new to me, moving from Los Angeles to the country in the northwest, I use mine for just about everything to pulling logs on the hillside to dragging trailers around on the property, living on top of the mountain and not having brakes won't end well. Lol
@@loadedoperator7 Mine is just for haying. My aunt bought it new. Broke down and left in the field. My dad bought it and fix it. Up grading it to 40hp.
There doesn't look to be a draw bar on that tractor ,just the sliding piece .A draw bar hitches up in the middle of the tractor and pulls down under load .A hitch like I was looking at is behind the real axel and the tractor could flip over n top of you under load .There as been lots of people killed hooking to high on the back of a tractor .There should be a draw bar for that tractor some where in the scrap yard or if you have it put it back on and save your life or someone else's ..If you are pulling on a real draw bar it won't flip the tractor will just dig down
The drawbar can been seen at 10:25. It is curved and mounts on each side under the final drives. It is mounted under the level of the axle and can't flip you over.
