Truly a beautiful piece of art. These old Cadillacs were over built beautifully pieces of art. They were so tastefully designed and appointed.

That they were.. it’s just super confusing because the more I look at the car featured it’s sort of looks like a town sedan but in other lights it looks like the six window offering I originally thought it was the town sedan.. To add to it nowhere on there does it say town sedan or 6 window.. just confusing lol

Actually it was by the Four Seasons with Frankie Valli as leader. Sherry is the song title.

2 minutes in, series 62: entry level trim line, same size as de Ville, series 61: de Ville trim level, series 60 Special: luxury trim level with unique roof, series 75: 8 passenger sedan and limousine. De Ville name first appeared in 1949 on the Coupe de Ville two door hardtop.

The 1961 DeVille was actually considered a 6300 Sub-series of the cheaper 6200 series models. The Series 61 ended production with the final 1951 2-Door Club Coupe and 4-Door Sedan.

It's amazing how that artist's rendering makes the 1961 Deville look so long. It was actually 14 inches shorter than the 1960.

Thank you so much =) Another cool video coming later from a Cadillac competitor.. it was requested I’m not sure if you requested it or somebody else requested this a couple months ago and it took me forever to find one but I did and I’m so excited it’s probably one of my favorite episodes that I’ve made so far on making it right now.. hoping that it will be done later on for tonight. I shot this episode yesterday it just happened shot some really cool cars yesterday and there’s a really cool good comparison video coming later that shows just how small the Thunderbirds see actually is which I might do as a separate segment as well as inside that Thunderbird review so I actually gave you three previews to three different video lol 1956 Thunderbird seat is only 6 inches tall and sits directly on the floor and 57 height raises an inch and I think 57 Thunderbird is more comfortable to sit in that a 55 or 56 Thunderbird Studebaker golden hawk still is the most comfortable 50s personal luxury car/sports car from the 50s that I’ve been in.. I went multiple cars and explain why that is.

@@What.its.like. my dad bought a 57 Thunderbird new & enjoyed driving it with the top off but hated it with the top on, no head room & if you weren't careful you'd bang your head on the top getting in & out. Several years ago I tested drove a 2005 T-Bird & thought the same thing so I didn't buy it. My Dad ended up trading in the T-Bird in in 1963 for a new Rambler Classic station wagon!!! He got $800 trade in allowance for the T-Bird!!!

Wow that’s crazy I was at jk galleria yesterday and shot 4 cars wanted to do more but that’s all I had space for all cool Comparison seat video is really interesting I think I’m gonna do it both part of a 57 Thunderbird review and as well as its own video because there’s a lot of different cars that I went in position to I’m just not entirely sure when the Thunderbird episode is going to go up because I’m trying to expand Horizons I want this to be a classic car channel 50s cars do the best on this channel seems like like 40s 50s early 60s cars do the best so I’ve been sprinkling in 30s cars ponies cars teens 70s 80s 90s cause eventually would like those videos do really well too.. and it’s totally weird everything I think is gonna be great Bombs and everything I think that’s not gonna do that Great does really well.. above all else I’m just really happy that people dig this channel.. =) building a car community

While I DO like the 1959, the 60's with fins coming down to that "knife edge" is VERY stunning & elegant. You're so right. Dripping with chrome and graceful yet complex line work. The fact it's called 6 window IS the essence of CADILLAC. Don't forget about that grill. The stuff now is plastic (exception Acura RDX grille 2021) Caddy's gotta have big TRUNKS! I admire the skills of body/ paint shop. Great video of fine automotive excellence.

Thank you =) The cars they make now are shadow of what they used to be.. I will say they are more safer. The thing I can’t wrap my head around model is back in the 30s late 20s early 30s got up to 20 miles per gallon with a carburetor flathead engine and you’re telling me your injection and computers we are struggling to do better, not you personally just you as in general. The other thing I was thinking about earlier today I wonder if they make a gear ratio final drive that will do one revolution for half crankshaft cycle.. I know the trade off of the one will not have any twerk but if you were going to speed that you needed to be at granite there’s gonna be a lot of variables and I suck at math.. some of the variables would power output torque output friction, weight wind speed etc.. but have a two speed rear and normal gear and the maximum over drive.. it would literally cut everything in the engine would only have to work half as hard to go whatever speed you were going. I was watching a program earlier today and he said that overdrive units in old cars. The crank turned 75% was a full resolution. If we could design a rear end with less teeth crank would turn half as much. Meaning in theory one would use half as much gas idk just a thought innovation comes when times are bad

When Harley Earl retired in 1958 his successor was William (Bill) Mitchell who was able to totally redesign all of General Motors car divisions in 1961. Mitchell called his 1961 design the "Extruded Look." or the "Chiseled Look." The year 1961 was a big year for General Motors having all its full-sized cars redesigned and they were also preparing to introduce the slightly larger and more expensive compacts: Pontiac Tempest, Oldsmobile F-85, and the Buick Special. The year 1961 proved to be General Motors busiest new-product year in its history. Nowhere was the turn from 1950s flamboyance to conservative good taste more evident than in the gradual shrinking of Cadillac's famous tailfins; having reached mountainous proportions for 1959, they would be all but gone six years later. The 1961 model would be a clean-sheet design so GM tried all different designs, some of them were way out there. Since Cadillac was the style leader at GM the car should look like one GM wanted to get away from the heavy-looking 1959-1960. Cadillac thought that the 1961 Cadillac should be understated with simple elegance and graceful lines. Cadillac had consistently good styling across the line-up of models in the "fine" car field that helped Cadillac to new sales records most every year during the 1960s. The company's gradual transition from glittery excess to stately elegance seemed to anticipate the luxury buyer's tastes. The tailfins were toned-down for 1961 but to keep up the visual emphasis on the rear GM came up with what was called "skegs" they were pointy fins along the bottom of the rear fenders that slightly flared out. The "skegs" came partly from the Cadillac Cyclone Motorama Concept Car and partly from the Firebird III gas-turbine experimental car which had influenced many of the designers at GM. The 1961 Cadillac had a new forward slanting front roof pillars with a non-panorama windshield. Cadillac offered four different roof-lines for 1961. As before, both series had no pillared sedans but did offer two hardtop four-doors: a flat-top "Vista roof" with a thin raked upper C-pillar with a radically wrapped back-light, and a traditional "six-window" style with rear-door venti-panes. Cadillac shared a sharp-angled variation of General Motors' "bubble-top" two-door hardtop design with the Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight and the Buick Electra and the Electra 225. The Biarritz convertible also had power vent windows, whitewall tires, Six-Way power bench seat (or bucket seats) and remote control trunk lock. The Seville two-door hardtop was dropped for 1961. New for 1961 was a short-deck four-door hardtop that appeared in mid-season and is often referred to as the Town Sedan. The wheelbase of the Town Sedan was the same as the other models at 129.5 inches but the overall length for the Town Sedan was 215 inches all other models were 222 inches in length 7 inches shorter. The Town Sedan was advertised for people who lived in the city where parking could be a problem. The Sixty Special Fleetwood sedan featured semi-blind-quarter four-door hardtop styling with an angular roof-line that approximated an erected convertible top. Six chevron slashes appeared on the rear fender sides at the trailing edge. A model nameplate was seen on the front fender. Body-color wheel covers added yet another distinctive touch and elegance. The biggest change for 1961 was a new front frame, which lowered the tubular X-member chassis to give more seat height and head room. The sole engine was again a 390-cid V-8 it only came as a 325-bhp 4-barrel. The 1961 Cadillac arrived in dealer showrooms on October 3, 1960, in seven body styles: hardtop coupe, convertible, long- and short-deck six-window four-door hardtops, four-window cantilever/vista roof four-door hardtop, blind-quarter Fleetwood Series 60 Special four-door hardtop, and the Fleetwood Series 75 sedans. Cadillac's production for 1961 amounted to 138,379 units. Cadillac's production in 1961 declined a modest 3,805 cars.

The 4-Window "flat top" Sedans in both the Series 62 and DeVille ranges were not nearly as popular as the 6-Window Sedans. The reason is that the 6-Window Sedan looked more elegant at the time with a roofline that was not available on cheaper B-body cars sold by General Motors. However, the 1961 Cadillac 4-Window sedans are now considered more collectible. Once the 1962 4-Window Sedan gained a thick formal looking C-pillar, then it became more popular than the carryover 6-Window Sedan from 1962 to 1964.

In addition to the comprehensive information you provided above, it should also be mentioned that the Fleetwood Sixty Special rear seat passengers also had electric vent windows. Another point worth mentioning is that the Fleetwood 75 Sedans and Limousines retained the 1959 and 1960 A pillar with the dogleg and panoramic windshield. This was retained through 1964.

Thank you so much for for the positive vibes =) I went to the Gilmore museum for three cars.. Chrysler turbine car , packard race car and kaiser darrin I decided not to do the Kaiser they’re is one running around my area I want to see seek out that one and do it.. that’s a really interesting story and where it wasn’t the Gilmore museum I felt I couldn’t honor the car the way that I wanted it to be honored.. If the Packard was mine the race car I drive it every day spring summer and fall where I live can drive in the winter time I really wanna build a car like that next year that’s kind of a bucket list/Kroll/dream of mine I don’t want to be that long though I want to be more the size of the Bugatti type 35.. I want to build a car that nobody else has on a budget.. after pricing everything out the most expensive things gonna be finding a fabricator to build me a body.. and trust me I’m gonna do an episode many many episodes on it if I get to that point.. it’s gonna blow your mind how do you want to do this for.. it’s all speculation right now inside my head I have a pretty good idea of what the final cost will be but it’s hard to say because everything just keeps going up. And a lot of times there’s a lot of different variables that I didn’t take into consideration. But yeah I saw that Packard on a Facebook forum group that I was part of and I was like man that’s not that far away I really want to go to the car but then I found out they had a Chrysler turbine car to just get close enough to shoot that car, I spent five hours at the Gilmore auto museum at 6 1/2 hours away from here and it was an awesome time I highly recommend going they’re super affordable I think tickets were $16 I was there on a Saturday.. they have nine buildings of cars sometimes there’s two levels to a building. And the other cool thing is as long as you respect the rule not touching any of the cars you could walk up to just about any car there go inside it and see it for it for what it was turbine car included. Very few cars were roped off.

@@MarinCipollina Incorrect, because cheap plastics and flimsy trim to save weight and cost were used in those downsized cars. Metallic paints did not hold up well and the adhesively bonded headliner drooped. Interior trim and upholstery were never aligned properly due to poorly designed tolerances and UAW members who could care less.

I’m a huge roadkill fan and engine masters rotsun was my favorite build But to be honest I haven’t really watched much of the content because they were all win on the RU-vid train and then RU-vid how they did things and then now they’re just on motor trend. I don’t watch as much car shows as I once did.. I also like the episode where they found the 70 Mach one in a junkyard if I had more of a budget I would love to do that sort of show the production elements of doing what they do is so much bigger than one person. It would be super hard to do all of the camera angles as one person you would need a whole team to do what they do. Unless of course you have a whole bunch of drones that it could be possible but they cost a lot of money. I hope one day to do something like the thousand dollar car challenge like top gear used to do I wanna do that with three friends.. I think that would be really cool and awesome to do.. I grew up watching Top Gear with Jeremy clarkson Richard Hammond and James May and I always wanted to do that that would’ve been awesome job the best job to have in the world someone asked me when I worked retail if I could have any job in the world what would it be and I said automotive journalist and it was so far out of left field for them they’re like really. I was shy for most of my early life. I still wouldn’t consider myself an automotive journalist per day but I’m making automotive videos about classic cars, When I had the idea to do a channel like this the original goal was to get people of my generation maybe a generation above mine and a generation below mine into this hobby, that’s the goal but this channel has done something I never thought it would and it brought a whole community of people together to talk about experiences and stories and read the memories and it’s huge to me.. it’s an aspect of this channel I never even thought of and it’s my favorite part of it =) I just wish I would’ve done it sooner.. as mentioned with another comment it was hard at first I didn’t have access to any old or classic cars just my own so if was a little hard trying to navigate or find a path, I also wanna say that it’s still not particularly easy there is four maybe five classic car dealerships that I work with I’ve tried working with some other ones that you know it’s free publicity to share those cars for them they’re trying to sell a car I’m trying to keep the information out there I’ve been turned down countless times. It bothers me but have to respect their decision... it doesn’t bother me for the reason you would think that it bothers me it bothers me because those are the people that want to hold information or make it harder for people to access information that should be readily available for anybody that’s coming to this hobby. We can’t take this stuff with us when we move on to what’s next why not let it be known. Sorry that was a bit a vent I join this huge car form on Facebook there’s like 320,000 people in it the admin shot down every single thing that I tried to share and said that it was either political or offensive.. just left a really bitter taste in mouth is all

Beautiful Caddy!!!! Some tidbits for you: - The P RNDL gearshift alignment was standardized for all North American civilian passenger cars by the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) in 1964. Before that every manufacturer could have their own different gear sequence. You can imagine the confusion this caused some people. The industry standardization was well needed at the time. - The canister on the master cylinder is for power brake vacuum boost. You can see the vacuum line connected to the intake manifold. It uses engine vacuum to boost the power for the brakes instead of hydraulics like we have now. Hydraulic brake boost is much more powerful, consistent, and reliable which is why modern cars have hydraulic master cylinders. - This is a VERY highly optioned car for 1961. Air Conditioning, electric vent windows, electric door locks, and cruise control were all expensive options on this car. Especially cruise, which had just been invented by Chrysler in 1958 and first offered on Cadillacs in 1959. Surprised you didn’t show the cruise dial on the dash - and point it out under the hood. The module is bolted on to the driver’s side of the engine, that big contraption that says “Cadillac Cruise Control” on it.

beautiful car...thx for showing. i think that's one of my fav colors for these cars back then...so classy and understated, but rich looking. The Series 60 Fleetwood was actually the long wheelbase non-limo model, 133", with more upscale trim than the deVilles, which themselves were a trim level of the shorter Series 62 body. its trim tag starts with the number 60. it's complicated because typically GM series numbers denoted increasing level of expense and trim as the numbers went higher, with the exception of the 60... as well as the complication of 2 levels of 62 trim...the Series 62 which was the entry level Cad and actually called 'Series 62' by Cadillac, and the upscale deVilles...officially both a Series 62 body with trim tags starting with 62. I have a '58 Sixty Special, which has over-the-top chrome trim over the two Series 62's, and the noticeably longer wheelbase. if you google the '58 Sixty Special, prepare to be amazed! it's interesting because the layout and many trim features between this '61 and my '58 are very similar...with the '61 looking more 'tailored' than the curves of the '58. Cadillac kept many details similar through the years, although on evolving different styled sheet metal. the big change occurred in 1967 when Cadillac pretty much jettisoned the last of the fifties details and style themes.

Also a very rare DeVille, air conditioning, only 60% of 1961's were ordered with it, 6 - way power seat ?, a must option in my book, so little extra cost for this option, the very rare power vent windows, unheard of on a DeVille, but standard on the Sixty Special, power door locks?, not on a DeVille, most of those buyers just did'nt order those options but more commonly ordered on a Fleetwood Sixty Special, , Also noted , but not mentioned on the vid, I saw mechanism for the ultra rare power trunk pulldown, usually ordered or standard on the Eldorado Biarritz, but not sure, like I commented earlier, great Cad, but Silver blue colors would make this car the ultimate 1961 DeVille, my fave of the entire 1960's years., thanks again for the great vid.

The tank above the brake booster is one of the vacuum holding tanks, I think that one is for the vacuum-powered door locks. It is separate from other vacuum controls and holds a vacuum even after the car is turned off. This is so you can lock or unlock all 4 doors with the outside door key. Or you can lock all doors before leaving with the button on your open door, you must hold the outside door button in while closing that door or it will unlock. It is an extra step to remind you to take the key with you. In some cars, you could only lock them once you were in to keep strangers out. or with the key after you closed the door. That car also has speed minder(you set a speed and you can't drive any faster than that speed) and Total Cruise control where the car will hold a speed that you set. Other speed minders used annoying buzzers that buzzed if you went too fast. Let's say park your car if you set the speed control at 30mph and turn it on... If a person steals the car unless they know how to operate the speed minder they can not go faster than 30mph the car won't let them. when they hit the gas to go It will take off! But when the car gets to 30 the gas pedal will shove their foot back to maintain the low speed. Push the pedal hard as you like It will not move unless the speed goes below 30. Ask me how I know? It works with a very robust motor nothing like a gas pedal that tells you NO and means it! You think the car is possed!

GM was much criticized for the shift sequence on Hydra-Matics having Reverse as the last position. This required the driver to pull the shift lever forward and then down through the forward ranges to Reverse. The justification for it originally was that the vehicle could be more easily rocked between L & R when stuck in sand, mud, or snow. Beginning model year 1965, the Turbo Hydra-Matic had the sequence changed to P R N D S L or P R N 'D' L to conform to upcoming federal requirements. The Controlled Coupling Hydra-Matic on the 1961 Cadillac is a 4-range transmission using two fluid couplings instead of a torque converter. The Turbo Hydra-Matic which began in model year 1964 (Buicks and Cadillacs) and on other full size GM cars MY 1965 is a 3-range unit using a torque converter.

Clarification on the 1961 Cadillac lineup: The "Fleetwood 60 Special" was not short(er)..instead it shared the same wheelbase and overall length of most Cadillacs sold that year. It also had a formal roofline (thick C-pillar), upgraded interior trim, and a higher price. The lowest priced Cadillacs that model year are called "Series 62"...and include a hardtop coupe, 4- and 6-Window sedans, and a convertible. Except for the convertible, the interiors of all these models were plain (door cards were plainer, no leather option, lack of a few standard power accessories). Above the Series 62 was the DeVille series (sometimes still referred in that model year as a sub-series of the Series 62). Interiors were plusher with different door cards, and upholstery was either cloth and leather or available full-leather. The DeVilles also had a higher level of standard equipment than the Series 62 models. The "short deck" Town Sedan was in the DeVille range. Additional body styles were the hardtop coupe and 4-/6- window sedans. Above the Series 62 convertible was the Eldorado Biarritz Convertible with a higher level of interior trim (somewhat downgraded in standard equipment from previous years). The most expensive 1961 Cadillacs were the Fleetwood 75 4-Door Sedan (lacks interior divider) and 4-Door Imperial Sedan (leather upholstered front seat for chauffer plus center divider with roll-down window). A long-wheelbase Commercial Chassis was available for funeral vehicle and ambulance construction.

You are right on the Deville name. It's from 1949. It was ALWAYS a coupe until 1956 when a four door hardtop was built (Sedan Deville) It DID become a series name in 1959 (Essentialy it's the 63 Series, as model numbers show "63xx" for years). after 1977 "DeVille" no longer meant "hardtop" as ALL full size Cadillacs became regular sedans (with a "B" pillar). The remnant of the series 62 (renamed Calias) ended in 1976. (A Buick Electra was a "nicer" car than a Calias, so, no real need for an "entry" full size Caddy...) The "60" series is an interesting odd ball, Pre 1938 it was the "small" Cadillac, The 1938 60 Special was a "game changer" in styling, and "packaging". This one model catapulted the 60 series to be HIGHER than the 61 and 62 series, throwing the numbering system out of order! for most of the Post war era a 60 series car had a LONGER wheel base than the 62 series car (until 1977)!!

Cadillac launched its first 4-door hardtop, Sedan deVille in '56. It had a longer rear deck than the 62 series sedan, as did the Coupe deVille which had been offered for several years. In '57, all Cadillac 4 doors were frameless glass hardtops except the series 75 limos. The 62 sedan and Sedan deVille were actually shorter cars than the coupes. In 58, Cadillac began offering the short deck and long deck 4 doors in both trim levels. That continued all the way thru the '63 model year when the short deck Sedan deVille was marketed as the "Park Avenue" body style. It never sold very well and was dropped for '64. Also in '64, the 62 convertible which for years had interior trim and standard equipment equal to the Coupe deVille, was officially moved to the deVille trim level.

For 1961 the Short Deck Sedan was part of the Series 62. As I now understand from Cadillac historians, Cadillac always offered customers "off-catalog" customization, like a short-deck Sedan De Ville (which became the Park Avenue by 1963). The "short deck" 1961 Cadillac was called Town Sedan...but in 1962 the Town Sedan name moved to the short deck model in the Series 62 range. The 1962 DeVille range offered a separate short deck model called Park Avenue. In 1963, the Town Sedan was dropped and only the DeVille Park Avenue remained.

Man, you need to study up! The de Ville name goes back to 1949, with the first hardtop coupe. A series 60 was the most expensive, non-limousine model. It was in the Fleetwood line, same as the Series 75. A Series 62 was the base Cadillac, same as the de Ville, but de-contented. For example, cloth and vinyl upholstery, as opposed to cloth and leather in the de Ville. Crank windows as standard, as opposed to power windows, etc. The 61 Series was added when the La Salle went away. It came back after the War for a few years, then went away for good. In 1965, the Series 62 was renamed "Calais.". The short deck models were introduced to appease buyers who complained about the cars getting too long for their garage. I saw a picture of my Uncle Charlie's 1961 Sedan de Ville sticking out of his garage. He did what most Cadillac buyers did then: he built a new garage. I enjoy your channel!

Cadillac used the 315 Hydramatic from the 1956 model year into the 1964 model year. It also known as the Jetaway. Still a 4-speed automatic, along with having a dual drive quadrant, it added a Park position. Of the "old guard" automatics, these and the Dynaflow located reverse at the bottom of the shift quadrant. As a sidenote Chevrolet moved reverse next to park with the introduction of the Turboglide in 1957. In 1958, Chevy extended it to it's Powerglide. The original Hydramatic only had one drive position and because clutches controlled all gears, including neutral. The neutral clutch was only disengaged when the engine was shut off. Therefore, placing the shifter in the reverse range locked up the transmission like a manual transmission stuck in 2 gears at the same time, and locking the rear axle. The Jetaway, or 315 Hydramatic added a secondary fluid coupling inside the transmission. By draining and refilling the secondary fluid coupling, shifting was much smoother by replacing the conventional clutches. The transmission would just mush into the next gear. When the new, modern GM 400 automatic was ready for Cadillac, after it's teething run in Buicks, Cadillac dropped the 315 Hydramatic, and for the 2nd time in it's history since the 2nd gen Hydramatics and the one year use of the Dynaflow, when the Hydramatic plant burned down, in 1953, it only had a single drive position. The original GM 400 didn't have an intermediate quadrant position. For the 1964 model year the GM 300 automatic, which gained the Jetaway name, was a 2-speed automatic, internally similar to the Powerglide, so it only had one drive position, was introduced. So, you had to look under the car to identify which transmission you had. In a 1964 Pontiac or Oldsmobile, if reverse was at the bottom, it was the 4-speed 315 Hydramatic. If reverse was next to park, it was a 2-speed Jetaway. In Cadillac's history with automatic transmissions, only one model year did it have a 2-speed automatic. Although it had 2 forward gears, the Dynaflow did not shift, so I wouldn't consider it an automatic, although it was hydraulicly operated. What one could consider it is a CVT as it depended on torque converter slippage to allow it to be run in high gear all the time. Similar to the Packard Ultramatic, where until 1954, it didn't automatically shift. From 1954, the 2-speed Ultramatic could be operated as an automatic transmission or always in high gear. Ofcourse the lock-up torque converter clutch gave the impression of a faux or imaginary 3rd gear.

America’s domestic carmakers all came around to the superior design of putting neutral between Reverse and Drive by 1966, by 1971, it had become part of federal law in the form of U.S. Department of Transportation Standard No. 102: “Location of transmission shift positions on passenger cars. A neutral position shall be located between forward drive and reverse drive positions.” Funky part? Vacuum reservoir. 1 blower motor 2 switches and a relay. Yes, it's the turn indicator light on the front fender.

It’s crazy it took that long to have a somewhat standardized shift selection.. I like to shift manually that would be catastrophically bad if one thought low was at the bottom instead it’s reverse that would really suck... had a friend do that when he were in highschool we used to shift into neutral and go free wheeling.. because we were poor in high school I needed to conserve as much gas as possible to go on dates or just to have fun you know getting kind of expensive than 2008.. and yeah he missed neutral and his Toyota cressa and no longer had reverse.. he always had to park on a hill if you needed to go in reverse.. so many funny stories with him and that car I’ll share one real quick I had a 67 mustang between the years I was 21-25 I need a water pump I walked into AutoZone and said I need a water pump for a (engine wasn’t the engine that was supposed to be for that car) 75 bronco and walked out with the water pump he had a 87 Toyota and had to wait days to get it and he was like your car is double the age of mine and can get parts for it that’s not fair lol

@slicksnewonenow
@slicksnewonenow 2 года назад
It is confusing, at first... The name DeVille was first used on the 1948 show car "Coupe De Ville", which was MAGNIFICENT! It was a two door hardtop that was built on a limousine chassis... It has a mobile telephone and just about everything else in it. The first "production" Coupe Deville became available in 1949 and wasn't as large as the show car, but still unique to itself and very impressive. The 1950 car was completely facelifted, but still beautiful... The general design continued through 1953. The "numbering" is confusing... The "standard" Cadillac was the Series 62. They were quite similar to the Deville series, but weren't as luxuriously trimmed... They had all-vinyl or cloth and vinyl upholstery... And almost no power accessories as standard, except brakes and steering. The power windows, seat and all the rest of the fancier stuff was optional. Next was the Deville Series, which was built on/in the exact same Series 62 body shell... But came "standard" with the power steering, brakes, seat and windows. Speaking of the Town Sedan, even though it was a foot and a half shorter than it's "big brother", it was actually a bit more expensive. People could also buy their 1961 Cadillac with a few roof options... They had to do with how many side windows the cars had... Or how the rear window looked. Common vernacular called the"four window sedan" the flat roof... Or Vista Roof. As a side note to the Town Sedan of 1961/1962, Cadillac also sold an extended deck Sedan Deville in 1958... It was a "standard" Sedan Deville trim, but built on/in the 1958 Fleetwood's extended body shell. Getting back to the 1961/62 lineup... The Cadillac Fleetwood was called the Sixty Special, and was incredibly luxurious in interior appointment. The Fleetwood line also offered the Eldorado... Convertible only from 1961 until 1966. Finally, there was the limousine called the Fleetwood 75. It was available as a bare chassis, which custom builders would provide ambulance, hearse, motorhome or bespoke limousine bodies for. Or, Cadillac built two 75 models "in house". One was considered the 9 passenger Sedan. One was called the Formal Limousine.
