You guys have seen us race this 1967 Corvette a few times this year, started out running mid 13s, then low 13s, then we ran low 12s, Now were shooting for the 11s! We swapped the engine for a .060 over 427, adjusted the timing, swapped out valve springs and ended up with over 400HP to the rear tires! Check out the video!

I absolutely love that Corvette. I change my sbc valve springs at 110 on the seat. I shim my new springs 10% higher than manufactured specs due to spring pressure loss after a few heat cycles.

Growing up in the 70's and early 80's plus realizing that an automatic is the way to go for drag racing, there's just something about the sweet sound of a big block Chevy and a 4 speed it brings back so many great memories riding with my uncles and grandfather back in the day! Chevelles, Novas, Camaros, and even an orange Road Runner, so cool another great video!

I ordered a New 67 Vette in late 66. Got it in February 1967. Special Order Marine engine with gear driven cam. Advertised HP 435. I changed the stock mufflers to Corvair Turbo mufflers, Took it to Nickey Chevrolet in Chicago, where Dick Harrell was in charge of their performance Dept, had distributor recurved & that was all that was done to it. Turned 12.83 in the quarter @ 118 MPH with stock red line tires. Later with Radial tires it turned 12.61 @ 119 MPH. From what I was able to find out, ONLY 3 corvettes came out of the Factory with the gear driven cam engine. The general manager of Chevrolet owned one just like mine, Goodwood green with Saddle interior, but his had sidepipes, mine didn't Sure wish I would have kept that car. Traded it off for new car & pickup two years later in Forest Park Georgia. Have been kicking myself in the ass every time I think about. Vette had 3,70 gears & would run 160 MPH by speedometer, but well into the Redline.

This is really interesting. I have an 2008 ls3 a-6 convertible. 3175 lbs . Shifts at 6500 stock. I hear they dyno at 390 hp. I put kooks headers and 3" pipe all the way back to the mufflers. So maybe 415 rwhp. It takes off slow because of a stock converter and 2:56 gears. 1.918 60ft. Then it runs good to a 11.80@121.1mph. I just need a stall converter to get the car to a 1.6/1.5 sixty foot and low 11's. Pretty close to the 67 427 as it's running now. I wonder what the green 427 vette weight is? With a safe remap 2 weeks ago it made 375hp at the tyres but huge torque from 2250 -4800. When the floods dry up I'll run it at Heathcote Park Raceway. 4100lbs, 3.27 gear and stock 6L80e. Hi, interesting video, so that looks like the 390 HP version of the 427 not the 435 with the solid cam and rect. heads? That should have a spring pressure of 300 with good stock springs. 5500 rpm peak sounds about normal and 6 grand sounds beyond peak with that stock cam which i think has than 500 lift. Rules allow 12.5 compression but requires stock cam? Is that FACTORY grind stock or similar? In 1975 i built a 67 Camaro Yenko clone so it had a 427/425 with the solid cam and rect. heads. I had a ZOOM BORG and BECK pressure plate with a street/strip disc, was like leg pressing 400 pounds but amazing engagement VS the diaphragm PP. Excellent time BTW. 110 pressure sounds LOW especially for aftermarket

Stock manifolds, stock side pipes. Go back a few videos you can watch us drop the side pipes off and pick up 30 HP. About 15 years ago my moms 69 l88 was built with side pipes the car was slow and there was no reason as to why. We dropped the factory 1969 side pipes off and picked up 6 tenths at the drag strip. To this day people still think it’s a lie and say my father built a cheater motor to pick up that amount of power with her car back then.

GAMORA, are you talking about the Hooker long tube header/sidepipe setup? That's what I have on my 65 Vette 427. The standard Hooker sidepipe muffler inserts are extremely restrictive. The muffler tube is 1.75 inches but has sawtooth louvres that intrude even farther into the exhaust flowpath so it's probably equivalent to a 1.5 inch diameter pipe. The only thing good about those mufflers is that they keep the noise level reasonable. I swapped mine for 2.5 inch core inserts and freed up tons more power.....and noise.
