1971 Ferrari 512 M Re-Creation DHG Racing Car - Test Day with Nicky Pastorelli Onboard. Misano Track

I had the pleasure of filming this fantastic Ferrari 512 M built by Roelofs Engineering based on the specifications of the 1971 model. This re-creation belongs to David Hart's DHG Racing and is the reproduction of the original model, chassis #1024, which Hart himself owns in his collection. The car, which has already competed in a few races, will participate in the Classic Endurance Racing championship organized by Peter Auto for the 2024 season. As you can certainly understand, it is unthinkable to be able to use the original car, worth millions of euros, nowadays in competitions. To my great surprise, this re-creation was present during a test day organized by Kateyama on the Misano circuit, and at the wheel was Nicky Pastorelli, a high-speed driver. I thank Mr. Pastorelli and all the guys on his staff for being very kind towards me and allowing me to create the on-board footage you can see. The car is fitted in a central position and arranged longitudinally with a 4,993 cc (304.7 cu-in) 60° V12 engine capable of developing over 600 hp (455 kW) at 9,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 544 Nm (401 ft-lbs ) at 5,500 rpm. The gearbox is a 5-speed manual, rear-wheel drive, and the weight is just over 800 kg. Enjoy! 😉
Ho avuto il piacere di filmare questa meravigliosa Ferrari 512 M costruita da Roelofs Engineering sulle specifiche del modello del 1971. Questa re-creation appartine alla DHG Racing di David Hart ed è la riproduzione del modello originale, telaio #1024 che lo stesso Hart possiede nella sua collezione. La vettura, che ha già disputato qualche gara, prenderà parte al campionato Classic Endurance Racing organizzato da Peter Auto per la stagione 2024. Come certamente potete capire è impensabile poter utilizzare la vettura originale, dal valore di milioni di euro, al giorno d'oggi nelle competizioni. Con mia grande sorpresa questa re-creation era presente durante una giornata di test organizzata da Kateyama sul circuito di Misano ed al volante c'era Nicky Pastorelli, velocissimo pilota e collaudatore. Ringrazio Mr. Pastorelli e tutti i ragazzi del suo staff per essere stati molto gentili nei miei confronti ed avermi permesso di realizzare le riprese on-board che potete vedere. La vettura monta in posizione centrale e sistemato longitudinalmente un motore V12 60° da 4,993 cc (304.7 cu-in) capace di sviluppare oltre 600 cv (455 kW) a 9.000 giri/min ed una coppia massima di 544 Nm (401 ft-lbs) a 5.500 giri/min. Il cambio è manuale a 5 rapporti, la trazione posteriore ed il peso poco superiore agli 800 Kg. Buona visione! 😉

The car in the video is a curious car... It was wrecked in the early 1970s, but the major components survived and was later reconstructed back into a full car. But, as far as Ferrari is concerned, it was still officially a wreck from the 1970s...

Questo video è una vera chicca! Da verificare ma se non sbaglio il V12 di questa splendida vettura è dotata di teste con tre valvole per cilindro. Giudizio critico per il pilota: manca la doppietta in scalata, peccato davvero! Ci fa capire e apprezzare quanto erano straordinari i piloti che a quei tempi riuscivano a portare al limite queste vetture, senza nessun tipo di assistenza elettronica, con gli pneumatici di allora e senza effetto suolo...Grazieeeee

Dopo questo commento, incuriosito, sono andato sul sito Ferrari a cercare esattamente il numero delle valvole per cilindro e riporta la seguente dicitura: "twin overhead camshaft per bank, four valves per cylinder" quindi "doppio albero a camme in testa per bancata, quattro valvole per cilindro" così abbiamo fugato ogni dubbio 😉👍

C fabuleux de pouvoir de nos jours (avec la technologie actuelle) faire une reproduction à l'identique des fabuleuses voitures des années 70/80/90 dont celle-ci, je sais qu'un passionné (privé) a fait une copie exacte de la 917, c'est envoûtant de voir rouler ces "monstres" et de les écouter, il y a un exemplaire d'origine au dernier tour de France auto si je ne me trompe!!merci bien encore!👍

Lorsqu'il s'agit de ce type de voiture très important, il existe toujours un fossé entre les passionnés qui ne veulent que les originaux et ceux qui apprécient et sont heureux de voir ces "recréations" également sur la piste. Je peux certainement comprendre le collectionneur qui possède dans son garage une voiture d'origine valant des millions d'euros et qui préfère ne pas l'endommager et courir avec sa copie. J'ajouterais aussi que les nouvelles générations qui n'ont pas pu vivre l'âge d'or du sport automobile peuvent aujourd'hui aller voir ces courses et trouver de magnifiques voitures qu'on ne verrait guère concourir compte tenu de leur valeur réelle. Ces répliques ont donc aussi le mérite de raviver des émotions qui seraient autrement très rares pour un amateur ordinaire 👍

@@kikiautorcman787B Je suis d'accord, je pense pareil, après tout on ne perd pas le modèle original, il reste et il convient, si possible, de le préserver au mieux. Avec ces répliques, très fidèles à l'original, vous pourrez les utiliser sur piste avec moins de soucis.

ÇA, ce n'est pas une hybride...😜‼️ Ça "crache le feu", c'est MAGNIFIQUE, c'est pure et "simple" de ligne, sans impindices aérodynamiques à profusion (voir qui se perturbent entre eux...😁🤔). Un bon gros V12 atmosphérique "à l'ancienne" accouplé à une vraie (grosse) boîte de vitesses manuelle (réservée aux pilotes ayant "le sens de la mécanique" seulement...). Zéro assistance au pilotage... Bref, le pilotes et ses 2 boules... Sans comparaison possible avec notre époque... Heureusement que ce genre de vraies autos de courses "galloppent" encore sur les circuits de nos jours en "historiques"...🕹️💯🔥🛢️🏁🏎️🤓🇫🇷

(avec certes des phases moins soutenues/intenses au fil du déroulement de la course d'endurance, comme à son époque (beaucoup) + "humaine"😉‼️...). Quelle auto..., il manque juste une 917 et une Lola T70 sur la piste pour un plateau de Légendes... Juste ces 3 autos en piste, imaginez la symphonie... 🕹️🔊💯🔥🏁🏎️🤓🇫🇷

This is a very interesting car, from what i have read about it... If I remember what I read correctly, the original car was destroyed in a crash in the 1970s, and the chassis number was officially struck off by Ferrari themselves. But many parts of the car survived, and thats what they pieced together in this recreation. So basically, this car now exist as a real Ferrari, beign reaced all over Europe. But, as far as Ferrari themselves were concerned, the car doesn't exist...

What you wrote is interesting; I didn't know the story behind this car. I thought it was a complete re-creation from the new, while from what you say, many parts come from the original. This certainly has another historical value. As for Ferarri, I did not doubt that this doesn't exist for them...

​@@Italiansupercarvideo Right, thats what I remember about this very car you featured. I just searched for the chassis number you mentioned. And I think this might clear things up. Chassis 1024 is a 512 S converted into the M specs. It had a continuous history, never crashed, apparently. And it was very recently bought by David Hart, of DHG racing. (As in, he bought it just this year) The car in the video, on the other hand, is indeed what i said it is, a recreation built usong major components of a wrecked 512M which was already struck off by Ferrari records... Though I can't remember the actual chassis number involved so, I will do a bit of digging to know which chassis number this particular car is... So, it looks like David Hart now owns two 512Ms...

I knew the history of chassis #1024 that Mr David Hart owns, and since he races magnificent cars, I did not doubt that he got this re-creation to safeguard the original but enjoy the sensations on the track that a vehicle of this type can give you. After what you told me, yeah...it seems that Mr Hart has 2x 512Ms in his collection, which is incredible 😱

A 250 SWB, a 275 GTB/4, 250 TdF, original AC Cobra and Ford GT40 (with matching replicas for the Cobra and GT40), Iso Grifo A3C, two Alfa Romeo GTAs, an Alfa Romeo 8C 2600 "Muletto", ex-Fangio Maserati 300S, among others... We can only be thankful that not only is he intensely passionate about his cars, he's also a quick driver like his son Olivier...

Potrebbero averlo ricostruito, da quello che sono riuscito a capire l'auto è passata sotto le mani di Roelofs Engineering e loro hanno esperienza decennale in questo tipo di vetture, anche nella ricostruzione dei motori. Vettura straordinaria. Guidata alla grande. Quel suono del motore poi... 😍

I always preferred the Ferrari 512S/M to the Porsche 917, but Derek Bell, who drove both, said it drove like a truck in comparison to the Porsche at Le Mans.

It's a great shame when cars become regarded as objects of art and valued at ridiculous amounts so they can no longer be used for what they were built for. This is built to exactly the original specification, with an original engine?

@@vincenzoalfano5138 Eh ilo so, la 312P è un'auto meravigliosa. Il problema è la difficoltà ad arrivare a quelle vetture per cercare di realizzare un'onboard. Però non pongo limiti alla provvidenza, prima o poi riuscirò a coronare certi sogni, tra questi anche la 330 P4. Tutto quello che è Ferrari da corsa, su questo canale, ha sempre la precedenza 👍
