Knockin' one of the many projects off the list this weekend. Picked up this D series over this past winter. Been wanting to make a stinger off the back for moving dead GT's around.
Not many people will take the time to do good clean repair work like you. I used to get fussed at for attention to detail because it prolonged the repair time. It is a true pleasure to watch you work .
`Jake and The Old Crow Medicine Show. Good deal and NICE tractor! Can't beat cast iron! I know it's the season for wrenching BUT I dare say it's the season for wearing a fret board out n that 5-string too! I ly heavy odds the group is getting GOOD-er! Keep after it, Pal and waiting on that rig to pop! And keep on bending strings!
And a fine Horse it is! Already pulling its weight around here. Hopefully I have time to get part 2 up this week, we'll see... Ain't been doin' much stringing lately with work and all. When I have a hankering to, it's been the gee-tar. Something different I suppose, but I still pull out that old skin box for a tear in between! Got another gig booked with the bluegrass group in September too... Can't wait, wish we was getting together sooner!
@@5Tractorguy I wish you could too but wear that flat top out. I get a hankering to drag the dobro out but it hasn't come to pass yet. Maybe one day. Just keep the digits limber and let me know how much the c.d. is!
I thought my Ariens "S" series were hefty until I parked this next to one yesterday, what a difference... Good luck on the search, they're great tractors.
Nice work, yes would like to see follow up. Looks like the same problems I am dealing with on a Bolen's 1253 i just pick-up. A lot of wiring issues and carb adjustments. People just don;t do things correctly.
Thanks. Wiring seems to be the one thing that always gets butchered no matter what people do. Hopefully they didn't run the carb adjustment screws in real hard, had a few engines where that was done. Good luck with getting it going again!
Man that thing is a beast! Im repowering my 80ish gray top Wheel horse GT1100, it has a motor BnS 11hp in it no compression and a horrendous knock, I don't typically work on tractors but I do enjoy them and I need a good forever mower and this should fill the bill as its in pretty good shape. I also picked up a 1960 Heckendorn 3 wheel mower with a twin 18hp Wisconsin that runs really well. I found it lookin for a repower for the WH, but its so cool I cant bare the thought of striping it for motor. But as I said b4 I bartered for a Kohler 14hp. Im gonna do some research to figure out the wiring.
It's a lotta tractor, that's for sure! You should be able to stuff that 14hp in no problem. Believe that model was the same as the Kohler powered ones only with a Briggs. I got the older brother to it out back, a C-111. That Heckendorn is a cool machine! And looks like a big-un too. Never seen one of 'em before, nice unique piece to have in a collection.
For some odd reason, every WH I have seen and helped repair from friends and family over the years had the darn coil wired backwards. It was deja-vu every time. Bizarre.
Thanks James! Haha nope! Still siting up in the woods where I parked it after plow day. Getting to the point though where I think I'll bring it down soon...
Jake, how has your house hunt going? I finally found a David Bradley, a 575.100, 5 HP Briggs, original, front rotary mower with the optional caster wheels, cultivator, plow, and a cutter mower...not DB. Not running, but free. It has been outside, but, for $150, I couldn't pass it up. The rotary mower is very rare...and it isn't frozen up. Great video, I still have my 2 Wheel Horse...the oldest a 1989 312-8.
I've got a line on a piece of property with a garage, but it's still too soon to say if it will pan out. I ought to know by next month sometime... Hopefully so, because it's a great piece of business property. That's a good deal! Especially with the attachments and that mower. I still see them around here on occasion, but they always have a moldboard plow or the cultivator setup. Good stuff! Worked on a couple 300 series here before.
It's still here, tugs stuff around on occasion. Didn't use it for the tow truck build because it shook like a son of a gun when running, drove me nuts!
