Howdy folks, I'm 5Tractorguy. Here you'll see videos on my vast collection of old garden tractors, homemade machines, small engines and my fleet of vintage trucks.
Dude you and I are alike. I hated Worcester Mass. every minute of the 20 years I lived there. I'm in middle Tennessee now and it is soooooo much better🙂
Jake, good to hear you are making a break. You have work ethic, skills, tools and support. The mountain states all have a lot to offer. Give Wyoming a summer and a winter then reassess. Personally, I like warm better than cold.😂 I wish you the best, my friend! Thanks for the update!
I'm late to the party here, but I have a 155 I'm doing a full restoration on, but this thing is a beast, so it's a keeper. Your 195 is a beaut, but I noticed that deck guards are missing. You have a keeper that you have already worked on! Good for you!
Back in the 70's I owned a 1963 GMC Carry All 4x4 with the 305 ci V6. A definiet stump puller. The truck always took me home after many trips across the West. Unfortunately is was stoelen years ago. Great memories, for sure! Onward.
I didn't know about this when I picked out my "Jakes General Repair" T-shirt for today's fashion statement. Very surprised to hear from a friend you had moved. Smart move for old vehicles- they don't rust out there! Good luck!
Those shirts are collectors items now! There are so many old vehicles kicking around on ranches out here it's unreal... and in usable shape too compared to our rotted out New England stuff. Thank you!
Son you only live once. Make your life matter to you. Be safe and enjoy yourself and work doing something you love and next thing you know you’ll be eighty years old it’s that fast
great choice , its a big country , i have been out west two times , it is indescribable , i have lived in a few other states ,north central massachusetts is home , I've enjoyed your videos for several years . have fun
Hey Jake! I'm really glad for you, man. I wish that I wasn't married, and could relocate somewhere south like Louisiana where I worked for Exxon in Baton Rouge. I loved it down there, the weather was hot, and I had so many friends. But my wife wanted to go back up north, so I looked for a job, accepted one with Westinghouse in Framingham, MA, resigned from an awesome job at Exxon. The my ex-wife's aunt and uncle came down and convinced her to take our 2 y/o son and move to Connecticut with them. I pleaded to get my job back but I couldn't, so I had done what I thought was best for my family and had gotten screwed. I never should have left. I landed up in cold and rainy Massachusetts with absolutely no reason or desire to be there. That's the basis of all my major decisions in life; I don't make them for me; I make them based on the feeling that I'm obligated to do so because I owe it to someone else. I would be so much happier now if I had stuck with the decisions that I knew would make MY life happy. You're doing the right thing by following your heart; that's the best way. You're a good guy, not a selfish one, and I'm sure that you'll stay in touch with your family; it's sooo much easier to do so now. I'll miss having you nearby, as will a lot of people, to repair my antique equipment and just talk, but, again, that's essy enough to do by phone. I wish you happiness and success, old friend! 🫡👏🤝 Best wishes, Bill
All the best as you adventure here in the West, Jake. I'm a Coloradan, and one thing you might want to know is that Gravely Ls are few and far between. Enjoy your travels and new job.
Congratulations! I could always sense that you weren’t happy at that shop. People took advantage of you because of your age and only wanted to pay you $10 an hour to work on their junk… IMO. Also Mass is a state filled with a bunch of miserable people, and I thought it was bad here in NY!
They did out of trade school, first 2 "real" jobs I had were pretty terrible... that's what pushed me into self employment. But waking up every day in the house I grew up in to go work in the small shop started to wear on me. No progression... But! It did give me a bunch of knowledge and experience working on equipment that I'll have for a lifetime. I'm 30yrs haha. As soon as I got out of the north east and even the eastern part of the country, everyone seemed much happier! And so far it's held true out here!
Jake, Best wishes for peace, happiness, health, wealth, and contentment in your life. Please keep in touch with a few vids now and again. God Bless Always.
Good for you. I made a similar decision almost 10 years ago, for almost the same reasons. And it worked out fantastic. If you have the work ethic, you won't fail. And you won't.
Man it's gunna suck not having you around to hang out with and go to shows with and what not next year but I'm also really happy for ya at the same time. So glad that everything's going so smoothly with the trip so far and also happy to hear that after those last few months of insanity with getting everything ready and what not that you were able to relax and have some fun on this road trip! Looking forward to some more videos from your across the summer and can't wait to hear how things end up going for ya out there soon!
It was well worth those 2 months or so of 7 day weeks getting ready! So much happier here than in NE. I'll miss the shows too and hanging out. I'll be back east sometime, there's just no telling when yet... until then we'll keep in touch as always!
Thanks for the update Jake I wish you good luck on your new job and home in Wyoming, be safe my friend and enjoy it out there, hope to see ya again soon
Jake how old are you know? Sometimes you just have to get in your truck and chase your dreams if you dont you will spend the rest of your life wishing you had
Good Luck Young Man ! None of us are stuck to a certain job , state ,or way of life . Most are just to afraid to venture out and become miserable and bitter. You are not. Awesome 👍🏻
Thanks June! I discovered the same thing over the past 5 months as I told people about my westward move... many will continue to stay complacent vs. bettering themselves.
Thanks Ralph! A lot of people told me the same thing, about the culture shock... but I didn't even notice. I think it was the reverse for me because I didn't quite fit the New England mold.
Sorry to see you leave Jake but I'm glad your following a dream. Now it looks like I'll have to figure out how to fix my 66 JD 110 on my own. LOL Best of luck to you and keep us posted on how things are working out. Be well, Do good work and keep in touch!
Jake I wish you all the best! That is awesome, like you said, not many of us get to do what we actually want to do. So go experience life to the fullest my friend!
From little denmark i have followed you some years now and ALWAYS lovede you videos I wish you the best i can for you to get out there and see the West that you want Hope you in your free time will take a ride and give us an update like this how your doing and maby tell us what your working on The Best luck and a i-wish-you-well clap on you shoulder Best regards Morten
I would say that suits you much better. I doubt you'll regret your decision. I didn't stay in the town/area I was raised, and never been sorry for leaving.
I happen to have the same feelings about Eastern Pa, it's just not the small town I used to know anymore. I genuinely wish you the best of luck man and I'm routing for you. I need to think about my future life as well here.
God Bless Jake. Follow your heart. Good to see no stress and a smile. Sold my service truck this winter and got a Subaru. Thats all I need now at 76. Best wishes my young friend. Russ
