Nice truck! I had an 82 hilux long bed also. Best investment I made was a aftermarket hi back bench seat with console. It really made the stiff ride better. These trucks can go anywhere. I wish I still had mine.
Thanks a bunch. Hope you guys are alright with bushfires. I live where the one of the larges california fire passed through. So I k how how much it affects one. You have my best and thanks for the compliment mate! Keep her (22r) going strong!!!
Thanks Christian. Toyota dudes always thinking of someone else. Im all good but my Sister and husband + kids have lost their home and cars and some pets. “Pets heart broken kids” But those thing all replaceable. Eddy is now driving my other Hilux and my sister is driving my wife’s RAV4. My house is a bit full at the moment but every thing will be ok! I like hiding in my garage!!!
Nice Yota!!! I'm toying with the idea of picking up a 3rd gen 4x4 from a family member. Unfortunately it does not have a bed but custom flat bed camper. If I do buy it, your Yota is what I envisioned mine would end up looking like. Thanks for the inspiration and for posting!!!
Cover king makes some awesome seat covers. Not cheap but come with mole style storage on the back and mine came with a few different pouches for different storage options. I have bucket seats in my '83. Nice job on the paint and like the color. I just ordered lce header with a magnaflow all stainless steel. Keep up the good work.
I have a calendar somewhere from back in 1984 from the local Toyota dealer when my brother Carlos bought a brand new Toyota pickup. They use to ask you to do the “I Love What You Do For Me, Toyota!” Jump and put it on a calendar for you when you buy a new truck. I wish I could find that calendar, he’s 13 years older then me and I was about 8 years old at the time and we both were in the pic. Shortly after that picture he was in a bad accident and has been in a wheel chair ever since. Now I got to dig that up!! 😄
Makes me wonder how many of these trucks have been to the scrap yard just sad they dont make affordable lil trucks like these anymore they are true gems !
Oh man, most of these trucks have been chopped up, turned into crawlers and destroyed. I'm responsible for 2 of them being beaten to the ground and all my friends have had at least two of them they beat to the ground. I suppose thats why they are worth so much. Everyone just thrashed those trucks. If none of them had been destroyed and there was thousands of them floating around in perfect stock condition they wouldn't worth nearly as much. They sure were a lot of fun. Thinking back to us chopping the bodies up makes me cringe now. I can't even imagine doing that anymore.
Dude for the interior get that sand (tan) outdoor carpet from Lowe’s. Very though and looks great. I loved the way mine looks in my 85. Easy to cut, also get the “cheap version” of the dynamate (can’t remember the brand) and install it before the carpet.
Christopher Christopher yeah in my trucks carpet, I don’t upload videos but I leave you the link to the carpet, like I said just go to LOWES and looked for the outdoor carpet section, is the “deser sand” color, it matches our trucks great. Take your time to measure and cut. www.lowes.com/pd/STAINMASTER-PetProtect-Nitro-12-ft-Textured-Galaxy-Interior-Carpet/50243923?cm_mmc=shp-_-c-_-prd-_-flr-_-google-_-lia-_-228-_-stockcarpet-_-50243923-_-0&placeholder=null&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIw_mYgt_n6wIVDR-tBh07LA-eEAQYCCABEgKVaPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
I have an 82 I'm in process of frame swapping from the cancer 150k on motor an brand new trans 5 speed 4x4 with stock SUNROOF from factory love this truck gave 500 bucks cash for it
I had a brand new short bed on 81. Blue. Loved that truck but the dealer didnt stand behind the warranty when the front driveshaft CV went bad. I currently have a new Jeep Wrangler but would love to find one of these Toy4x4
Always take with you a can of wd40. Before you go into deep water spray your coil and roter cap. If you stall in water, dry the cap and roter inside and spray it down the wd40. Good luck! I own 2 85s. 1long bed turbo diesel, the other is a short bed card gas. Both are the same color.
CONGRATULATIONS, very neat indeed, you have done an outstanding and impressive job on your lovely toy, please enjoy and make the best of it, do not abuse it, very possible that your kids and perhaps your grand kids will enjoy it as much you do, I have an 86 single axle, automatic transmission, power steering, power brake, air conditioner, runs smooth as a feather,y daily drive, all I do to it is preventive maintenance, on very similar condition as your is, blessings to you and your love ones, from the endless summer paradise Puerto Rico Jesus Torres .
Damn thats sweet!!! Always wanted one but the ones you find in Pennsylvania, either the frames are rotted out or bodies are as well. The cleaner ones are crazy overpriced!
Sweet Ride! Getting started with mine and was wondering what are your thoughts with 4.88s at the diffs and 4.7 gears in the transfer case? Any help would bd appreciated. Thanks and have a blessed day! 🙏
I runner with 488s but transfer case is built and has lower gearing when wheeling. I can run 70plus miles on the freeway and keep up with traffic with ease.
Hey Chris !super nice truck ,! Congrats! I'm building one, almost done! I need a bench seat as well have not been able to find it. Any ideas? Other question about the rims... are those steel wheels with bead locks?
Awesome job, your truck looks very nice. I want to ask what is the color code of the paint on the truck because I have a Land Cruiser 100 and should look very nice with that sand color or so.
daniel calzada Thank you! A body shop called C and V auto body in Oxnard. The color is the Toyota sandstone color used on the new gen Tacoma’s and runners.
You can get the kit on amazon or any local automotive parts store. You just have to calculate how much freon you need in the Ac system. If you dont have ac sticker under the hood.
Just remove it and go with new reclinable bucket seats. Dual cases is far away for me. My transmission and transfer are geared lower then stock. So it does get me up and over but yes duals in the late future.
Hey bro I purchased military grade terminal posts. You can find them on Amazon. Fastronix Military Spec Battery Terminal Top Post... www.amazon.com/dp/B00X36RILW/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_api_glt_fabc_B6TV2XB38AC1AXT5CEG4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Nice truck! My dad and I are thinking about getting one of these for my first vehicle since I like to hunt and fish. We go in some really rough areas in wa state. Thinking about lifting it and doing some upgrades
A question Toyota friends To those who have raised their Toyotas arching the leaves (crossbows) of what measures are the shock absorbers that install them And as they do so that the stabilizer bar reaches its place Since the mechanical click that did the job let me loose the stabilizer bar Thank you
Hello again! Im still working in my Yota. Rebuild engine completely, finally found a bench seat. I have a question: Did You modified your differentials ? I have 35’s on this truck now and as you might imagine cant do more than 40 mph
Yes I did, I’m running 4:88 differentials. And I cruise at 75 on freeway. With 35’s your gonna want to go 5:29 gears. You still won’t have great top end but you’ll be able to at least hit freeway speeds.
@@oliveramatajorge you can order the kits from trail gear, marlin crawler, all pro Offroad, Dave’s Offroad. A lot of companies offer it. As far as the transfer case most people go dual transfer cases to get the lowest ratios possible. But 5.29s will serve you right in the differentials.
The retrofit kit is very simple I got mine at oreileys auto parts. But all or most auto parts stores carry it. It’s literally the adapters for changing the fittings to r134a. I also changed out my condenser and filter drier.
Hey boss i have the same truck and i want to install ac but have no idea, idk if you willing to shoot some knowledge about the whole process, cost, etc. Or any shops that you recommend that do that work, i live locally to ventura. Thank you!
Hello, if your truck didn’t come with Ac from the factory. Then your best bet is to find a donor truck that came with ac and take all the parts. Swap them over and have the system charged. Also order a new seal kit and evaporator and condensing unit. This will give you a sweet setup.
Not that it hasn’t been stated but what about a couple of external cages for maybe an extra tank of gas or something along those lines for emergencies since you said it’s a work in progress
Similar to some jeeps that have a gas tank on the rear of the vehicle that I have seen weather it be tv or real life and or a working snorkel to go with it maybe just as an idea
