We took an 800km road trip back to my hometown of Mississauga, Ontario to drive my 1990 Honda Accord LX. Read our full review here: goo.gl/WzScAG
In 2012 I bought this 1990 Honda Accord LX from the second owner and kept it for about 3 and a half years before needing to free up some garage space. I was unsuccessful selling it for 6 months so I decided to transfer the ownership to my father, which meant we had the opportunity to feature it on TestDrive.
The CB7 Honda Accord is one of the most popular in my opinion, with plenty of them still on the roads today, and many enthusiasts sticking with this platform nearly 30 years since it was launched. Our Spotlight on the 1990 Honda Accord LX goes over all the features from the 4th generation Accord base model, along with a comprehensive rundown of the features found on the Accord EX, and EX-R models for Canada, as well as the SE and 10th Anniversary Edition models released. We take the Accord on a quick drive and go over the common problems with this generation of mid-size car.
The CB7 Honda Accord came in 3 body styles, the sedan which we're featuring here, a coupe, and the wagon (CB9). We cover some of the OEM upgrades we've done with this LX, such as the front fog lights, rear trunk spoiler, side window sun visors, interior arm rest, factory radio with CD, and painted bumpers & trim.
For more information about the 4th gen Honda Accord we recommend visiting www.cb7tuner.com.
TestDrive is proudly produced in Acton, Québec, Canada. This episode was filmed in Mississauga, Ontario.

I love my 92 accord ex coupe. My dad owned it gave it to me when I was 16 and 10 years later I still have it. The rust in the back sucks and isn't cheap to fix but i do love the car more then my 08 and 14 civic si its like going back into time when I drive the car. My kids always sad to see it get cold because I put it up in the winter but come spring time they get beyond excited. It's an amazing car.

Tell me about it! This was our #1 fear during ownership of it, especially being part of local/international CB7 groups and hearing about thefts. Ours wasn't special, nothing worth stealing on it really, but since they're so easy too someone could have done so just for a joy ride.

u mother pancit! Yes it is, i lost my keys to mine about 12years ago and was able to pop out the small window on the back door to get in, it popped right back in. And only had to pull the plastic cover off under the steering wheel and pop off the ignition switch and turn it, no key needed

We can certainly appreciate that. We had the graphics built for us about a year ago, we asked for a template to be made based off another spec page we liked, and the designer ended up copying it more than we had liked. Truthfully we feel any of that information is relatively useless since it can be easily found on Wikipedia or other sources. Problem is the graphic was built with that many columns and it's beyond our After Effects skillset to remove them. We're always looking at ways to improve the videos so we'll see what we can do!

Those fog lights were rare in the states. A friend of mine had a 92 ex with fog lights and the standard tape deck with the single CD player underneath the tape deck. In high school I had a 92 ex coupe manual, black with tan interior. I couldn’t believe I found the exact one I was looking for with 80,000 miles. This was back in 1997. I think these are the best accords especially if they have the 5sp manual. I like how you painted the black bumpers, it really helps it from looking old and cheap.

Freeze! at 8:26 that was the model i had Ex, YEAH the best of the Cb7 series fully loaded tinted moon roof , i had full chrome trim around all the fenders, 5% limo tint, half bra back then that was in style, added chrome door trim for the front, middle and back doors, had the factory twin chrome muffler tips, even for the trunk,sunroof visor was dark smoke was going for the rear spoiler but changed my mine as i liked the smooth look down the back side as ass end sat low to the ground actually the whole car sat low on the 15" stayed polished aluminum alloy fact. wheels, 205/60/15 name was black stallion man that 4 banger was fast, im not going to say quick as that wouldn't justify the speed of this car man back in the day when i had this car i once past 10 cars at one time on a two lane road, when that torque converter locked up and that pressure came off it was like turbo, loved the Sports mode.

A bona fide classic from Honda's Golden Age. That's awesome that you put in an OE audio unit, way to keep it original. Was much more of a driver's car compared to anything in its class or price range. Rust is the only thing that killed them. If somebody is in the market for one, try to find an un-molested SE or EX-R with a 5-speed.
@PRNTestDrive
@PRNTestDrive 5 лет назад
Either one I'd jump on. Someone was selling an EX-R wagon in this area a couple months ago but apparently it was really rusted out. I looked at an EX-R wagon about 6 months before buying my 7 Series but it too had a lot of rust problems.

Perpetual Radio Networks Two things have helped Honda make such an awesome Accord. 1 The fight against the SUV craze and 2 their heavy involvement in Formula 1 just like in the early 90’s with McLaren. I think Honda will also start doing well against Mercedes and Ferrari in F1 for next years season. Honda makes Their own engines always have and currently making turbo engines for F1 and Indy car. My 90 EX was all tricked out with 15” Fittipaldis, Yakima roof racks, and 2 15’s in the trunk but was unfortunately stolen just a couple months after I bought it. I was 16 years old and I cried. My 93 SE was all stock but I had it for longer and it even made the cross-country move with me from GA to CA back in 2002 (and then back to GA in 2003 lol), but I later sold it to a buddy who proceeded to total it (he didn’t die however, lol).

Why do you call it e brake?? I’m from uk, why not p brake, as in parking brake, what’s the e stand for
@PRNTestDrive
@PRNTestDrive 6 лет назад
I'm not sure if there's a real rule here, but I always refer to the hand brake as an E-Brake, or emergency brake, since you can pull it if your brake pedal locks up/fails and have no other option. The new electronic brakes like the one on the 2017 Mazda6 6MT we're reviewing right now, or even the push pedal ones found on a lot of SUVs are what I call parking brakes, since they really shouldn't be used when the car is being driven. That's just me though!
@louisjames1062
@louisjames1062 6 лет назад
PRN - Perpetual Radio Networks interesting, on my Range Rover sport the hand brake is electronic so not sure if it would let you engage it whilst moving or in drive. Here we call it hand brake or parking brake. E brake suggests electronic, on my car it’s called epb electronic parking brake,

Perpetual Radio Networks I used to have a 91Accord LX it had power windows but it didn't have a Sunroof I'm telling you that Honda didn't place the correct badge on their Accords I even own a Dark Blue 92 Accord LX with an EX Badge on the back it is a true LX model but yours came with Manual windows and no Sunroof manual door locks meaning it's a true DX base model not an LX I want you to look up your vin number and go to your local DMV and tell me if the vin number isn't coming back as a DX base model cause the vin number doesn't lie
@PRNTestDrive
@PRNTestDrive 6 лет назад
I'd check out CB7Tuner to look into it. In Canada, we had 3 trims. The LX, EX, and EX-R, which translated to the DX, LX, and EX. The Canadian LX (American DX) is what we have here, I don't have the VIN handy but you can ask around on CB7Tuner, there are a lot of US owners who picked up the Canadian EX-R just to have the badge and VIN for it.
