the best 1990's players if you ask me were #1 michael jordan #2 hakeem olajuwon #3 shaquille o'neal #4 isiah thomas #5 karl malone #6 patrick ewing #7 charles barkley #8 john stockton #9 david robinson #10 scottie pippen #11 clyde drexler #12 gary payton #13 alonzo mourning and #14 reggie miller
you make sense and the 1990 finals mvp was superstar isiah thomas and i don't know why it was joe dumars in 1989 and no disrespect to the pistons who you PROBABLY know in the 1988 and 1989 finals faced the lakers but in the 1988 playoffs the elite years had finally and officially ended for legend kareem abdul-jabbar
Man 94' was our year + still cant believe we didn't take it home that season! SOOO FUNKIN close and came INCHES away in game 6 of the Finals w/ Starks game winner getting tipped!
@@willhopson1277 That required a Derrick Harper suspension and a miracle shot by Kucoc. Bulls fans like to rant about the Hugh Hopkins call but they had a lot of good fortune to get that far.
Basketball in the 90's was so theatrical. The crowd volume was always like you were there. Core of teams stayed together sometimes nearly a decade, played with heart and had their backs. Win the game or win the fight was the motto.
Do people even know what's a travel? You'll just have to start counting ONLY after touching the ball, and people still fail counting a few moves. 🤦🏻♂️
Even if we would've won this series, Houston would've given The Bulls some major problems in the Finals in 94". They had an incredible season that year. However, this was the season that Scottie Pippen became a true team leader. He almost singlehandedly willed his team to the Finals. Great Memories!!💯💯💯
@Jeff Pryce Not that I am saying that the Bulls would have beaten the Rockets, but the Bulls were only 1-5 against the Rockets with the 3peat with Jordan and 2-2 in his two year retirement. Also, in two of those losses Scottie Pippen did not play in the first game and Horace Grant or a true Power Forward did not not play in the second game.
I think he had like back to back steals in game 6 versus the pacers when they faced elimination the same year. Low key saved their season. Gritty, clutch player.
@@TheSands83 I wonder how the Knicks would've done in 1993 had the 1992 team been kept intact. I believe they were better off with Mark Jackson and Xavier McDaniel than Doc Rivers and Charles Smith. Gerald Wilkins is another valuable piece from 1992 they didn't have in 1993.
@danielle1216the Knicks loved the Bulls too much by battering and scalping em as champions but bowed down to the Rockets in the NBA Finals of that year 😅
NYK was a physical & really good rebounding team. Their bugaboo was turnovers for sure tho. Things got atrocious for Charles Smith after the 95 season. I remember the MSG groaning EVERY time he took a shot.
I can't speak for the rest of the Bulls fans but the Bulls blew Games 1, 2 and 7. There were no closer on the team (although Kukoc was promising....he was a rookie).
The horror for the next season and the knicks came next year when Michael Jordan came back and dropped 55 on them not only that the Knicks never recovered after Michael Jordan came back and Jordan got three more championships in a row two times three peat when the Knicks didn't pass Michael Jordan they feared Jordan Jordan was there horror, and Patrick the the Knicks never won a championship buahahahahahaha
Huh? Did you see the real horror movie? The Pistons? Bulls survived that movie. Knicks were like a suspense movie. Yes and the year after this, Chicago's Freddie Kruger came back. Too bad for the Knicks.
Man, the Knicks of that era were all about no easy buckets. It's great they won this game but early on they are just getting dunked on over and over. With no MJ. Surprising to see.
Watching highlights reminds me of several things: -Look at how low the score is at some points! The three point shot wasn’t as emphasized then as it is now. -90’s pro basketball was some of the most physical play. Guys are getting hammered left and right and in some instances the refs let them have it. -More emphasis on ball movement. Far less reliance on isolation. -Coaches wore suits on the sidelines. I miss those days. And of course, rivalries meant something. You can see the hate both teams had for each other and how bad each team wanted to win.
Derrick Brookens - but this was a totally different team than the year before which too many don't seem to realize. That's even more so the next season.
The only reason there was a game 7 is because of the bad call referee Hue Hollins made against Scottie Pippen. That bad foul call was all over the news. This series should have never went to a game 7.
@Blue Skeptic The game was tied before Kukoc's buzzer beater. It would've gone to overtime if Kukoc missed and road teams typically don't win playoff overtime games.
@@channeljan8529 The momentum was on the Knicks side at the end of Game 3. The Bulls offense sputtered in the 4th. They likely lose in overtime without that shot.
1994 Bulls: Swan song for some of the players who contributed to the 1st 3 Championships...but for some of the new players added to the roster that season..it would eventually be the beginning of their 2nd threepeat (once Jordan returned the following season).
@@TheSands83 What I mean was Cartwright, Grant, Paxson, Williams were gone from the Bulls after the 1994 playoffs. Perdue and Armstrong followed a year later. Those guys were involved in the 1st 3Peat.
@Jeff Pryce If the Bulls had beaten the Knicks, you think with the level of momentum they would of had after winning that series they would lost to the Pacers.
dwisdoms we got the last laugh tho boyyyyy! Haha that's what happens wen BITCH ass cry baby MJ aint around go get EVER SINGLE call from the refs! Bunch of BS for YEARS the Knicks couldn't breathe on Jordan without a foul call! 90s NYK would have at least one Ring if Jordan didnt cry 😢 like a BITCH + get every call! FUK Jordan FUK Pippen + FUK the Bulls!
WrightOnTime87 yea how pathetic right? They only still had a top 50 player of all time, All-star Horace Grant, B.J., Paxson etc.... Oh, almost forgot- they acquired the BEST European player in the world that year too bc its wasn't lopsided enough w/ Cry Baby Jordan/Phil Jackson bitching n moaning for EVERY SINGLE CALL! Couldn't fukin breathe on Jordan in 92-93 w/out a whistle! NYK were Def the better team in 93' n If Charles Smith is a Bull in same situation he gets that call 10 times out of 10! Rewind bck w/ Smith getting the call- Knicks win gm 5 and back home for gm 7 to wrap it up n SMACKDOWN BITCH ass Barkley in the Finals! BOOM Bulls BITCH HAHA
KnowledgeIsPOWER 57 I'll admit the Knicks were better in 93 but should of won the finals in 94 if starks didn't shoot 2 for 18 in game 7. PS: Knicks always choke in the playoffs lol.
KnowledgeIsPOWER 57 allstar BJ and Horace? And a rookie benchwarmer in Kukoc who couldn’t do even 10 pt per game and an old Paxon who managed to stay on the bench most of the season as it was his last year on the old legs and was unproductive? You mean that team? Now I know you trippin. That team was weak as piss. Just showed how good pip actually was to drag this team so far with out a descent 2nd option. All of those players are no better than a distant 3rd option and that is being generous. If Pippen had a Pippen of his own then we’d be sittin here talking about their 94 chip. That’s the truth.
@@syrus80 True we lost game one by only 4 points game 2 by 5 points we lost the series by 20 points it was the refs Pat Riley and Home court advantage why we lost not because the Knicks were better
If this Knick team kept X-Man, never trade Mark Jax to LA for Doc Rivers, while still acquiring Harper, i don't see them losing to the Rockets. The line up... Frontcourt- Ewing, Oakley, XMan, Mase Backcourt- MJax, Starks, Harper
@@PhilBurr100 I agree the Knicks not having a real SF costed them not only the ECF series but was also probably the reason they had to play a deciding 7th game against the Bulls with no MJ.
@@highmeadows2030 How the Knicks took them to 7 with Mike we beat the Knicks in 6 the rockets went to 2 game 7 this playoffs stop acting like they was a juggernaut
Antione Walker the 92 team wasn’t as talented as the 94 team would have been with mike and 93 Knicks only went 6 games with bulls then u add kukoc kerr Longley and wennington.. they crush the Knicks and the rockets barely beat the Knicks if 94 bulls have jordan its a wrap.. 95 rockets however might be 95 bulls if Jordan stays
@@TheSands83 If Pippen , Grant, Cartwright , Perdue, S Williams and Paxson were all injured in 92 and as they were in 94 and take away King ,Levingston and Hodges off the roster and if Cartwright, Perdue and Paxson were the same players in 92 as they were in 94 and based the way Kerr played in the 94 playoffs even adding him ,Kukoc , Longley and Wennington to that same team they would have won more games a stood a better chance at winning the championship. Also, I think Rockets would have beaten the bulls with Jordan only if they did not have a Power Forward.
Ask Steve Kerr. He was there. Warriors vs. Anybody is not a rivalry. There were REAL rivalries in these days, and they were naaaaaaaasty. This was the only time the Knicks have had home-court advantage over the Bulls in the Playoffs. Ever. And it's the only time they've beaten the Bulls in the Playoffs. Ever. And they've been in the league together since 1966. This includes a Playoff meeting in 1981, before Jordan.
Knicks had home court advantage the year before in '93. They won the first two games that year too, then the Bulls won the next four to eliminate them in an all-time great series.
Reggie Lewis and Drazen Petrovic both died in the offseason, thus making Boston and New Jersey less competitive. Larry Johnson was injured, thus rendering Charlotte irrelevant. Cleveland suffered a shit load of injuries and was rendered irrelevant as a result. So that's 4 teams that would have given the Bulls a harder time but for those deaths and injuries.
@@redpillfreedom6692 At the same time Atlanta, Indiana, Miami, Orlando all improved that season. Also, even after the death of Drazen Petrovic(RIP), the Nets because of Kenny Anderson playing the whole as oppose to missing 1/3 of the previous won two more games.
@@87mchale.71 The Bulls were riddled with alot more injuries in 94 than 93. Also, four or five of the playoff team in the east improved from the following season.
@@bw1190 Nope. 94 Bulls were an improvement. 93 Bulls had no bench. It's common for teams to do well after a star player leaves. That's what I was getting at. People act like only the 94 Bulls did well without their star player The Celtic lost Reggie Lewis, Nets lost Drazen, and Price, Nance, and Daughtery suffered career ending injuries. All three teams could've come out of the East in 94 even with MJ as a Bull. Without MJ each of those teams are beating the bulls in a 7 game series. Remember 94 Bulls played the Cavs in the 1st round without Nance, Daughtery and Hot Rod Williams. Price was injured in the series
@@MeMe-td1ye Also, if Paxson was a bit healthier/or if Kerr played the way he did in the regular season Bulls not only beat the Knicks but the Rockets as well.
Nope... the East contenders had gotten better in 94 and the first 3peat team was done. Older and fatigued. They likely advance past Knicks but the Rockets would have beaten them in a 7 game series. Houston always gave Chicago a run for their money. NY was my fav team but always cracked under the pressure and imploded.
@Robert Phillips The Knicks blew the Finals that is my fav team as well we were up 3-2 and you never let up you finish the deal. But as I stated the Rockets to that point played the Bulls very very tough and I said it would be a 7 game series, I dont know who would have won.
yup..Ewing tells Pippen now chew on my nuts...hahahah...Pippen at that point, I could see him looking around and saying somethings wrong we about to get eliminated..Im pissed off, ooh wait im the leader of the team now...MJ is off doing his thing...Hmm I guess the media in Chicago need answers how we lost this series...hmmm...I want MJ back..hahahah
@@trailernumber9th710 Knicks needed the full 7 to finally beat the Bulls without MJ, no way Chicago doesn't get that 1 extra win they needed if he was there for that series.
hahaha...I know this you wouldnt tell them to their face...calling the Knicks chicks...Mason, Oakley and Ewing them cats would put the fear of God in anyone..hahahaha...Especially Mason and Oakley talk about a tag team gang there, both muscular and put a hurt on you...You can ask MJ how physical those two guys are...haahha
That "phantom call" is such as myth. Pippin clearly hit Davis on the follow thru. Anyone who's ever played ball knows that even if u hit on the follow thru its still a foul. NOT TO MENTION the bulls were already in the penalty. Dumb play by pippin but Davis still had to hit two clutch free throws which he did. Truth is, is kukoc doesn't bail the bulls out in game 3 (while pippin whined on the bench) the knicks would've won in 5 games. And the only reason why game 5 was as close as it was if u remember Derek harper got suspended for a stupid fight with jojo white. Not to mention the bulls still could've won game 7 which they lost by double digits.... KNICKS WON RIGHTFULLY.
Opps that's wrong luc Longley did not play the most in game 7. But the point is the knicks beat the bulls down low like right under the basket and bill cartwright and Horace grant, and scottie pippin have to get 40 plus minutes cuz everybody else is completely dominated like they in prison if ya know what I mean!
The only problem with that Knicks team was the point guard. I remember games when they won 80 something, the defense was great but the offense would have been better if they had a inside game with Ewing not so many jumpers.
@@ShawnThomas78 Do you think the Bulls would have stood less of chance of beaten the Knicks if they had kept Jackson and never acquired Harper even if they still gotten Smith.
Brian White no, Xavier McDaniel was the difference and MJ was actually a bit worried about McDaniel being with the Knicks after the grueling 92 East Semis 7 game series. Smith was a mistake and we should have never acquired him.
I remember that season and being super impressed that even after losing Jordan to retirement, they still won 55 games and barely lost to the Knicks in 7. I know Olajuwon was a beast... but I just can't see anyone beating this team if it had Jordan in his prime.
To be fair this Knicks team didn't have a real SF Charles Smith and Anthony Mason who were in that spot had difficulty defending perimeter players. I think the Rockets had the team to beat the Bulls they were the West version of the Knicks with more shooting threats and Horry was good at defending perimeter ball handlers so he could've gave Pippen problems with his height.
I know that people talk about the Davis call but the bulls clearly were missing a swingman or a shooting guard who could shoot the ball create his own shot and play defense if they had that they go to the finals easily without Jordan in 1994
@jaboo82681 I don't know if you know this or not but the bulls had the chance to get Jeff hornacek from the sixers before the jazz acquired him and all the bulls had to do was give up their first round pick in 1994 and Krause refused to give up the pick and the pick ended up being dickey simpkins a bust. Hornacek would have helped the bulls alot that was a big mistake by Krause.
@jaboo82681 I found out last year that the bulls had the chance to get Jeff hornacek from the sixers before the jazz acquired him all the sixers wanted was the bulls first round pick in 1994 bulls GM Jerry Krause refused the deal because he didn't want to give up the draft pick that ended up being dickey simpkins a bust if Krause makes the deal the bulls beat Knicks and pacers and make the finals in 1994 without Jordan
@@stanpoint2092 Other than a Lottery Pick, which player in the draft (including a frst round pick) would have been good enough not to trade for Jeff Hornacek. Also, even if that was possible, did the Bulls have the money to trade for him and if they trade was made the Bulls win the title.
@@bw1190 dude I read that the bulls could have acquired Jeff horaneck from the sixers before the jazz. It's about matchups, Pippen was a ball handler which was a bad matchup for C. Smith Horry on the other hand was a good perimeter defender. The SF matchup in the Knicks-Rockets series didn't make much of a difference because neither C. Smith or Horry handled the ball much.
D. Myers did play the following season , but when Jordan came back they already had Harper and the season after Jordan coming back they did not need or have enough room on the roster for him.
@@bw1190 thank you for that. yea me and my dad were talking about this exact thing a couple of weeks back and he told me the same thing. that he was there the season after, but by the time 95-96 came around, there just wasn't room, even for a talent like Myers.
You can't score only 2pts in a Gane 7 on the road and expect to win. Same shit he pulled in '00 vs The Lakers in a Game 7 on the road when they blew that 15pt lead in the 4th he scored 0pts in the 4th Quarter. Very Good player but when it was winning time he was very overrated.
Wis Dom they were role players. But they still lost in the 2nd round so the op’s comment doesn’t make sense. Wade took the Heat to a game 7 in the 2nd round of 2016 without Lebron. But they still lost.
The Knicks did not end the bulls dynasty it was the same as 92&93 7 games series the only thing was they got over the bulls hump just once with out Jordan
@@RGMX92 The Bulls added six players after Jordan retired that combined for over 40ppg. Half of the East was injured in 94.
