I practically grew up in the back seat of my dad's 1995 ZJ Grand Cherokee. It was the Orvis edition model. Complete with the 5.2 liter Magnum V8 engine and the tan and green leather interior. My dad taught me how to drive in that old jeep, we camped in it on the weekends and I even helped my dad fix it up before he passed in 2018. A drunk driver however rear ended it, totaling it. It broke both me and my dad's heart. That old ZJ was like an old friend to the both of us. To this day, the ZJ will forever have a special place in my heart due to all the wonderful memories in it with me and my dad.

Here's how each system works: Quadra-Trac: Traction computer controlled to apply traction to the wheels that need it, from side to side and from corner to corner. Best 4x4 performance as well as superior on road traction in bad weather. Can be glitchy and repairs are costly. Moderate duty rating from factory Command-Trac: No computer, all simple mechanical control. Part time manually selected. Traction is applied thru open differentials, but with Brake Lock Differential, which switches traction to the non spining wheel on the axle. Works on both axles. Effect is like walking with one foot moving ahead, then the other. Very reliable system with few issues. Moderate duty rating from factory. Selec-Trac: Part time manually selected. No computer, all mechanical. Ordinary open differentials yeilding power to one side only - Right side in back, Left side in front. If the power side starts spinning, there is no transfer of traction to any other wheel. Very reliable system with limited moderate off road applications, but very good in general bad weather, snow, etc. Light duty rating from factory. All systems are up-gradeable.
why do people want the 5.2?? . the 4.0 was made in a BRAND NEW factory in canada.... with the lowest defect rate in the world (yes, better than honda and toyota) easier to work on gets better MPG cheaper parts mechanical cooling fan VS electric . like ya.... the 190hp 4.0 isnt fast..... and the v8 sounds better but even the 5.2 isnt fast.... hell, even the very few 5.9 ZJs are pretty slow.... . . and the BUUUUZZZZZZZ at 2000 and the RASPY tone at ~4500 of the L6 kinda grows on a person . no one looks up from their phone when they hear another V8 but people damn sure look up when they think a 2 ton bee is trying to sting them!!!
ABS = Absolutely Butt-Fed (when) Stopping (on ice) . im too tired to make it actually fit.... but id rather "dig in" and possibly slide sideways a bit.... then release the brakes to get straight again and re-apply . ive actually pulled the fuse in winter in my 99 buick century..... and it DOES stop quicker on ice and snow . however.... in the summer or rain..... ABS is a really nice thing to have
