I think that was the special teams coach (Bobby April?) because you can hear him say it to Cowher before he hands him the photo. Sounds like the same voice, only much louder obviously.

I always thought he was one of the best officials there was. His hands were tied and there was nothing he could do. I’m glad Cowher apologized to him.

He was a great ref…until you needed more than two hands to count.

Cower is barking up the wrong tree-the official under the goal post tossed the hanky. I was a referee for high school, youth, NAIA Collegiate and Arena-the umpire and I count the offense, my deep officials count the defense, it’s that simple. Your grandfather was a GREAT referee and should’ve had at least one Super Bowl on his resume. Very few seasons was he not assigned a postseason assignment. So sorry you lost him 20 years ago-71 is 10-15 years too young. Hopefully you have many fond memories of him.

Your gpa was a legit ref. It was definitely his generation of officiating. After him soon came Ed Hochuli who shared similarities. And now, we have Ed's son, Shawn.

No way Erik... Sometimes you have to do that to make a point. Now, if Cowher punched the ref or struck him in a violent manner causing injury, then he should have been sued & ejected. By simply putting something in the ref's pocket does not elevate to the level of needing to eject him.

Contact with an official in anger has resulted in ejection in every other instance that I've ever seen. No reason it should've been different here.
