90's nostalgia in a SLP Pontiac Trans-Am with ram air and 300+ horsepower. The car marked a return to the muscle car age with high efficiency V8 power.
Logan I had #421 white with light blue stickers, bought new left over in 1996 for 28.5 K. And sold it in 2010 with only 5,740 miles on it for 17.K and bought a new 2001 Ram Air red - tan 6speedpaid 31.5 K kept until 2009 with only 7,600 miles sold for 22.K. So Sorry I sold my babies, but needed the money at the time,.
I brought a Black Firehawk brand new in '95 all the options and 6 speed t-tops all I did was hook up a power programmer to it this thing was unleashed 12.98 1/4 times at 109...I was KILLING a lot of cars out here in Detroit street racing scene back then...sold it later for a Zo6 Vette good times back then
I actually own a 1995 Trans AM Comp T/A #38/168 which is another limited run SLP car. I bought it used in 1997 with 11k miles on it, and it sits in my garage still today, babied and rarely driven with only 70k miles on it. It is easily one of the fastest cars I have ever driven, and is still an absolute head turner with its silver paint and grey stripe down the middle. I will be buried with the keys to that fucking car, lol.
compta38 Hey man, come join our Facebook group, ''Pontiac Firebird WS6, Comp T/A & Firehawk Owners''. Its basically a club just for the SLP and ASC/SOM cars. They would probably love to see your bird over there if you still have it. Cheers
private low number car ,but my car #421 with only 5,740 miles on it from new and it was delivered with 456 miles on it from factory, I guess they test my car for a while. Kept until 2010 sold with only 5,740 on it for$17.K so sorry I sold it
They got some things confused. I have the Pontiac brochure from thee dealer in 1995. It says: 300hp @ 5000 330tq @ 2000 Or optional: 315hp @ 5500 342tq @ 4000 The acceleration numbers for the 315hp are: 4.9 to 60mph Quarter mile was: 13.5 @ 103.5 Other than the 1997 LT4 SS this is the fastest LT1 3rd gen fbody. In 1997 motorweek test on that SS LT4 that went 4.9 to 60 smoking tires all the way there and 13.2@108.8. That would be quite a car to have. Either would for that matter. I still like the firehawk better and a guy could always do roller rockers like the LT4 and a couple of bolt-ons to the hawk and be right there with that SS and looking much sweeter.
How in the world does this old footage from the mid 90's have the late 2002 speed line ws6 wheels? GM had them laying around for 7 years maybe. Quite odd
@dlr113w oh i know power isnt everything. im glad i had some good sticky tires on my t/a so it wouldnt spin in a straight line. they were cooper cobras and i also had an auto. but turn the wheel and it would fish-tail like crazy
Sticker on my car 1995 Fire Hawk was 39,900.bought left over in 1996 for $28.5K Kept until 2010 with only 5,740 miles all original no chip or bolt on's #421 so sorry I sold my baby girl back then for 17.K No money for my baby girl
@camaroman101 1995 mustang 5.0L 235hp 95 base formula/trans am/Z28 was 285 and the peak torque was reached at half the rpms and was also more than the stang.
sorry man didnt mean to be a dick or anything i took one for a drive at a dealership it was a 93 it said on the sticker 400 bhp ram air injected. damn thing was fast
+steve v No I believe only formulas... I got a 95 Hawk 6 speed in black and its based on the formula... hell of a fast car for the 90's and i've blown away multiple mustangs lol
then i guess the guy modded it before he traded it in. the dealer had all the paper work stating 400 bhp 400 small block in it with ram air. i was going to buy the thing because he had paper work showing it. this was in 97 when i was looking at it. i got a 4x4 truck instead.
At 1:25 torque peak RPMs is wrong... more like 3800 RPMs, not "2000 RPMs"... those low rise LT1/LT4 intake manifolds were weak at low RPMs compared to earlier L98 TPI intakes... stronger at higher RPMs...
i dont know for sure i didnt even look at the engine to be honest he could have been playing me. but i do know one thing i gave him one hell of a ride. scared the shit out of the guy. damn thing could break loose the tires with out thinkin about it. it was an auto to not a manual. real wheel drive. hey sorry about bien an idiot in other comments by the way. turned the corners well slide around every corner and hit 3 360's on dry pavement. blew into the gas station and slid in between 2 cars.
@timmypstyle Man power isn't everything. I've seen on many occasions where the crappy model stang would win.. And it was because the damn camaro wouldn't stop spinnin. haha.
I have a 1995 Firebird formula 6speed..I want 2002 ws6 ....I have LT1...have gm lt4 hot cam hit....going to build lt 4 .355...1995 Firebird formula motor..
I Know Its Important To Keep A Firehawk Original But If I Was Keeping It For Myself I Would Have To Ditch The 93-97 Firebird Front End & Rear Bumper To The 98-02 I Like The 98-02 Look Better
I bought my 1995 FireHawk New in May 1996 , White/Dark Grey/light blue graphics.315H.P FireHawk. #421 T-Top. auto. Sold it in 2010(14years ago) w/o 5,700. Miles. $16,000. Talk to guy I sold it to, and he said I could buy it back for what he paid for it. $16,000. Still has under 6,000. Miles , all factory stock. Hopefully everything works out. Pray 🙏 for me to get my car back..
I saw one of these come through the GM dealership I worked at. Way overpriced , cannot see out the rear of the car except for seeing the light bar of the LEO patrol car. Wasn't impressed. Would have been better off buying the corvette of the time. There was so much more potential to be had with this drivetrain. Too bad they detuned it so badly.
I don’t think these will be that collectible considering they were primarily an appearance package... if they had atleast a different heads/cam than the base car it would be different.... that’s why the LT4 cars are going to be collectible
@@GOBRADON502 Did you really? Did you really "laugh your ass off?" And actually he's completely wrong because this 24 year old Firehawk is actually still a full second quicker through the quarter mile than a 2017 (or 2018) WRX. Only a newer STI can keep up with it and even then this old Firehawk still corners slightly harder and brakes slightly better than even an STI. That's saying a lot for an over 25 year old design.
