When sportscasting was more about the actual sport and not all about the entertainment factor. I miss those days. Without a doubt Hubie Brown is one of the most brilliant Basketball minds ever. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable about the game, his vocal articulation, cadence and chrisma is also top tier. Best of the best. RIP Rick Majerus.
Wouldnt be able to play a lick of defense though. He was lousy back then. Hed look awfully funny running around switching on the perimeter in todays game
Kandi man didn't care about being great, he just wanted to make money.. he played his best basketball when it was contract year .. Kareem was hired to mentor Kandi man as a rookie n Kandi man told Kareem don't nobody do those old azz moves anymore..
@@alijamehadzic843 yes he didn't live up to the hype a player nobody ever heard of going number 1 over a bunch of better players I'm sure expectations were high for him .
It's pretty insane that Carter was drafted in 1998 and was still active in the NBA in 2020. He was an NBA player during Bill Clinton's presidency and Donald Trump's.
Imagine if Robert Traylor could've kept his weight under-control or down to 240... Would've been a Elton Brand type.. I remember Udonis Haslem had weight problems but he slimmed down to 220 from 280 and had a good career.
Wow. Its amazing seeing these playedback. Hindsight. Imagine Iverson paired up with Pierce or Dirk?!?....Multiple chips likely.....This is an underrated draft. Best players in the draft went 9, n 10.....
They would've just ended up having to trade Pierce or Dirk the same way they did with Stackhouse...AI was a chucker and those guys would've negatively benefitted from it. The reality is, the 2001 team was as good as it was going to get for an Iverson team. He had a second scorer in Melo and could barely win a playoff GAME, let alone a series.
Iverson couldn’t share the ball and didn’t put in the time or work necessary to be a champion. Dirk and Pierce both won chips after Iverson was already washed.
@@WorldwideWyatt Yeah Iverson certainly had his flaws as fantastic a player as he was. Even dating back to his Georgetown days he was only able to play one way. Very ball dominant and all out. Part of the reason he wore out, all those minutes at 100%. I always wonder though if he had one more really talented offensive player in philly, what those teams mighta been capable of. At least he couldve been allowed more rest instead of playing over 40 mpg. 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️ Your right though, "The Answer" for all his greatness, his teams never won the big one dating back to his college days aswell.
@@itsmeitstrue you can also argue the other direction with a supporting cast, that as much as he chucked and with his shooting percentage without someone like Mutombo to rebound some of those misses Iverson doesn't even make a playoff run at all.
imagine if sixers took Kevin Garnett in '95 then got Iverson in '96.. Garnett-Iverson would've been fun. though, i don't know if sixers still gets 1st overall if they had Garnett.
@@melvinbogard8864 Truth is one of the most underrated SFs to ever play...Dirk was better for longer, they both played for a very long time, but I think Pierce was the better player the first 8 yrs of their careers, just my opinion being a celtics fan lol
@@seanmoore2239 Lol 😂 He didn’t need the Nba on the Knuckleheads podcast with Shaq he said that the Candy Man was a prince 👑 and didn’t need the money he gave basketball a shot because he’s 7ft tall didn’t play until college
It was horribly racist. Very little diversity. White shows like Seinfeld and Friends were all we could watch. And only one person in Congress wasn't a white man.
By 1998, people in European countries were trying to get out and achieve something better through professional sports as minorities of American ghettos had been some twenty years prior (1:40:30).
@ 1:47:20 you’ll see WHY the NBA would and always can be a success in Vancouver. There were more people at this draft then people in Vegas at the T-Mobile watching Wembenyama play. Ridiculous to think Vegas would have a better NBA fanbase then Vancouver. This event was sold out. I’d like to see another historically bad franchise host the draft and see it sell out within the week.
