Excellent work! I wouldn't mind more old 2 stroke vids like this. Also, I found your explanations to be very informative so thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge on these things!

Thank you for your feedback and support. I have a few 2 stroke builds on here. I mostly do whatever I can get my hands on and that typically is neglected 4 strokes.

Great content. I’m a Suzuki guy so can’t wait to see more Suzuki’s coming up. It’s also nice how you go in depth detail on explaining how parts fail,what causes the failures and actually breaking it down by doing drawings and demonstrations on how they work for a better understanding. Also nice that you cover everything in your content as to how to cut cylinder heads for the valves and do cranks.A lot of guys that do dirt bike rebuilds don’t do as much as the extra in depth stuff you do by covering everything. Looking forward to seeing more future content.

Love this video. Lots of good info here. You taught me something with that clutch spacer..I never knew it had that notch in it. I've always had to pull the counter gear off bc I'd put it back in the wrong order... And I have rebuilt prob 7-8 2t's

I have that same exact bike with even the same seat oddly enough. I bought it in pieces and built it over the winter. It came with that exact carburetor the terrible KEIHIN PWM and I ran into the exact same problem with it not idling. I also did the same thing with messing with the jets and it didn’t do anything so now I’m going to have to spend some money and buy a pwk. I’m glad to see that someone else had that problem and it’s not just I don’t know what I’m doing. Good luck and great video!

Thank you for your feedback and support. Like I said in the video, the forums are littered with people having problems with their RMs using this carburetor so it’s definitely not just you and I. I am going to first grab a 36mm PWK off of Amazon ($36) and see how it works. I know it seems like it would be a “you get what you pay for” deal, but I’ve had pretty good luck using the Chinese air strikers in the past on two stroke bikes.
@dylansmith5219

I just tried that and I bought a 36mm off amazon from JFG Racing and they sent me one that looked completely wrong and it was t even a 36 it was a 34. So I was just thinking of buying a used one instead of a Chinese.

@dylansmith5219 maybe they just sent the wrong unit. I ordered one. We’ll see if I run into the same situation.

😂 you do realize even changing fuel ratio mixtures effects jetting as well. Id rather have rich jetting and foul a spark plug every so often then running lean that is the death of a two stroke...
@restoroosterohv
@restoroosterohv Месяц назад
You are correct. The ultimate goal is to find the ideal Stoichiometry for your particular machine. In the grand scheme of things, you would absolutely be better off on the slightly richer side to avoid engine damage. Thank you for your comment.

Awesome explanations, I’m still just not a fan a 2 strokes. Yes 4 strokes can be complicated and more expensive to rebuild but I feel like 2 strokes are over complicated and a ticking time bomb. Have two old CRs I pulled out of barns but never have done anything with them. Would like to but at the same time I don’t want to screw with all the fine tuning
@restoroosterohv
@restoroosterohv 2 месяца назад
Growing up for me, 4 strokes were considered trail bikes. Not until 1998 when Yamaha produced the first 4 stroke race bike as we know them today. We always had 2 stroke race bikes. I still get nostalgic for them time and time again but always go back to my 450r. They both have their pros and cons for sure.

Can't believe you didn't wash the grit out of that cylinder jug after homing it.Bad move dude...

I absolutely did wash the cylinder (it’s not my first engine build) but you are right, I certainly should have filmed that part. Thanks dude. BTW, it is called “honing”
