Rafting in the Himalayan stretch of the Ganga has been a popular adventure activity for decades, but no one in the world had ever tried to swim down its entire length till 2015, when Wing Commander Paramvir Singh undertook a 43 day daunting expedition and swum down its entire length from its source at Devprayag in Uttarakhand, to the mouth of the river at the Bay of Bengal, covering a total distance of 2,800 kilometres.
Wing Commander Paramvir Singh is an internationally acclaimed Open Water Swimmer and ultra endurance athlete, a highly decorated Officer of the Indian Air Force and a Tenzing Norgay National Adventure awardee. His other notable expeditions include swimming 1031 kms from Mumbai to Mangalore for which he holds the current World Record for the Longest Open Water Swim. He has also swum the English Channel 3 times and undertaken Asia's only medley relay sea swim. As an ultra endurance athlete he has completed a 635 kms ultra distance triathlon which can be visualised as Iron Man X5.
This webinar is a fascinating glimpse into his epic Ganga odyssey and a review on the health of the river.
