Episode 33 - 2 Reasons Why You Should Always Carry Your Gun
In this episode, Romine talks about why he always carries and how it can keep you safe. We live in a modern society with a bunch of stuff that makes us feel safe, yet hear about those who fell victim to criminal attacks every night on the news. Safety is a feeling. It's not real. Once you accept that first responders are just regular people doing a job and can't be with you 24/7, you'll start to understand why you always need to carry your weapon.
Thank you for watching!

I am a cop in another large Tennessee city, that is one of if not the most violent in America, I’ll let you guess. All that to say, I see a lot of bad shit happen. Of the hundreds of shootings and homicides that I’ve seen, I can tell you that the majority of people that are innocent victims, did not plan on getting hurt or dying that day or night. It was just another day of the week for them. I use this when I’m being lazy and I forget my CCW in the house. It grounds me. Could having a weapon have saved all of them? No. It damn well could’ve saved a lot of them though, and I’d rather die fighting than getting executed just because. Also, like the cop told him, you have to lookout for yourself. Even on our best days, we have to fight with traffic, other calls that we have to drop to get to you, etc etc. It may take me 30 seconds to get to you, or it may take 15 minutes depending on where I am. ALOT can happen in mere seconds. Protect yourself and your families!

Truth! You know what, as soo as we hired police, which we need, we abrogated our own self security to law enforcement. Something happens we call the police for help. I am a former LEO. I can tell you, police rarely can help prevent a crime in progress, and were never really intended to because that job cannot sustain the man power to provide every citizen 24 hour personal security. Police are a deterrent to crime as a whole, whose job is to investigate a matter to bring to justice an offender who then is charged based on the evidence and tried in court. That's a lot of time and energy when you a private citizen is in a life or death situation of which the outcome is decided in seconds. No one but you can make that difference in terms of responsibility.

I have been a trainer for a number of years and I always carry. I live on a farm and I seldom go out of the house without being armed. Your information is very good. I do advise and you covered this, is don’t grab your gun and go looking for trouble. Trouble will find you. I train people that if you think you have someone in your home, grab you gun and family and retreat to the safest room in the home and call 911. Never go out and look for the intruder. Let they come to you if they are looking harm you. If the kick in the door where you are at and you defend yourself and loved ones you will be in a much better position to claim self defense.

Didn't believe in carrying a gun other than home defense until this point was brought up. If I get robbed or hurt, by the time the cops get here, all they can do is just write down what happened, cause these events happen so quick. My car makes me a target, and I got folks that live in not so nice areas that I like to visit often, had 6 dudes in a van approach me at a gas station after they circled around 2 times, but I bet the print in my shirt made them think twice. If not, when they were next to me at a traffic light exiting the gas station, they could definitely see my Glock resting on my lap.

Just yesterday I stopped to fuel my truck at 7:30 am. As I was putting the fuel cap back on this fairly large male came around the back of my truck like I did something to him. He had a jacket on with his hands in his pockets. He stepped right up to me just inches from my face and said "how bout you give me that money." I took a step back, and told him I had no cash. He stepped towards me once again and said "you got a card, right? Go get me some?. I put my hand on the door handle and opened it and jumped in, reached in my center console and got my PPK out, switched safety off and turned back at the guy with it. He just ran away which was fine by me. Sure I was pissed he put me in that position, but the threat was over as soon as he turned to run. I called to sherriffs office, let them know how aggressive the guy was and what happened. All this happened in a pretty decent area of town, the guy looked to be in his 30's and white. Lesson I learned, next time I think its just another fillup, I'll be putting my gun in my conceal holster. It was unexpected and happened very quickly, it could have gotten worse and I'm thankful it didn't. But we all have to be prepared for anything, at anytime.

Verbalize Verbalize Verbalize in a Clear and Concise manner. There are 4 types of witnesses; eye witness, seeing witness, hearing witness, and belief it or not a smell witness. If you verbalize your intent or intentions there just may be a witness to corroborate your account of the incident. So always verbalize, when you can, with the mindset that someone is watching hearing seeing or smelling. Great video! 👍🏽💪🏽
@alstontrainings
@alstontrainings 3 месяца назад
That's fantastic advice. Thanks for watching!
@cmcwilliams120
@cmcwilliams120 3 месяца назад
As a former criminal investigator I can’t stress verbalization enough. When investigators do a neighborhood canvass, knocking on doors, looking for people who may have been in area, they will often find someone who heard something or saw something that didn’t make sense to them but corroborate what the subject of a deadly force incident did or didn’t do. For example, someone heard someone yelling “drop it, drop it or I’ll shoot” or “put the gun down” “get back” “walk away” “drop the weapon” to name a few. Also, loud verbalization draws attention and is a distraction to the perp. It often disorients and confuses them giving you that split second to escape and evade or draw and handle business!

I have never been involved in a car accident. EVERYONE in my car wears a seatbelt. Always. I do hope that at the end of my life, I look back and see that I paid car insurance, wore my seatbelt and carried a gun - and all I got out of it was peace of mind. But I'd rather have those and not need them than..... well, you know the rest.

I travel all over atl, Detroit,chicago (which is now legal to carry) you must stay ready & always dry fire practice when your at home. Get comfortable with your firearm, the bad guys stay lurking. People are always going to watch you, & be nosey. You must make sure you keep the highest capacity mag, & always watch over your shoulder wherever you go

And, is a good reason to have a medical kit with you or at least in your car. It's a good idea to always be carrying a firearm and a first aid kit. Same here - and I don't think it's being paranoid... Carrying needs to be normalized, imo - not demonized by the naysayers. People use to carry daggers or swords back in medieval times, and it was never questioned. Carrying a weapon is perfectly normal, in my view.

We have loaded firearms staged around the house, just because...I've thought about the bathrooms, the most practical firearm we own for such an environment might be our little NAA, it is stainless steel and won't rust...not much, but it would be something...

Good video & great advice , yeah it’s easy to think I’m just running down the block for some milk or whatever and think nothings going to happen but most attacks happen close to home . I’ve developed the mindset over several decades of lawful concealed carry that no matter what I’m doing or where I’m at . If it’s lawful I’ve got something on me I can defend my life with . Just a couple nights ago a kidnapping took place about a mile from my house . I live in a nice suburban NW city , but things are crazy . Nice city you have , Nashville , my daughter graduated from Belmont and I’ve visited several times . Earned a sub , have a good day brother & stay safe

I've always put off the cc class bcuz it takes 90 days to process. I have plenty guns and carry in my car sometimes. My gun store said there's no use in a gun if u need it and don't have it. After watching this I'm really thinking on it frfr. I guess it took someone that's been thru something like this to make me see more clearly. Thanks boss man. 💯

This is a great video and message. A quote that has stuck with me is when seconds count, police are minutes away and the best fight is the one you’re not in. I once had someone criticize me and ask why I carry and am what I am I afraid of to which my reply was I’m not necessarily scared of something, I just choose to carry and be ready.

Great video and I completely agree. You don't get to pick and choose when bad things happen you can only react. I've had many friends and family tell me that I'm paranoid for carrying and they don't carry themselves. Well I'd say I'm even less of a paranoid individual knowing I can defend myself and family if need be.

I’m glad that you didn’t find that guy because yes, the threat was over. Also a very valid point. One of the things that my trainer in my concealed carry course taught me and also my time in the army was that the bad guys get to determine the time and the place, you just get to determine the reaction.
