For anybody wondering, this video does not include SPOILERS for Outer Range Season 2, but it does for Season 1. So I would recommend watching this before or after watching Season 2, as a lot of the mysteries and secret mentioned do apply to both seasons. Also, please keep in mind this video was made before we know what happens in the second season.
I watched the series in 2 days and fell in love with the dream of the Wild West all over again. I live in Austria and I find the landscapes of Wyoming so beautiful. Red Dead Redemption 2 is also a perfect example of how beautiful the USA can be
Josh Brolin was SO perfect for that role, so perfect. He's the reason I checked it out as well, like something about him makes me feel calm and focused while watching things he's in.
It definitely feels like we're jumping around timelines. This show has been a pleasant surprise! The cast is great. The writing is solid so far. I think the singing is jarring in the most perfect way. The show has the right amount of weirdness without going full Twin Peaks. I'm glad you did this video or I probably wouldn't have discovered the show for a long time.
Thank you, that's good to hear! As crazy as the timeline swapping theory is, it would be hands down one of the ballsiest creative decisions in TV for a long time!
The singing is okay and the weirdo dream sequences gives a psychedelic time travel feel and they nicely scripted the story for multiple season as you can see the story coming together after season 2. Best part is season 2 has more sci-fi time travel elements.
My wife and I quite enjoyed the first season and waited a very long time for season 2. Season 2 did not disappoint. This show is like a live action puzzle. Its very easy to get left behind. There MUST be a 3rd season. I wanna know what the hell ol Tillerson is gonna do down in that hole.
But it did. Both of them jumping caused perry to return at the right time to cause him to be able to live at home and not go to jail for murder. While also helping him grow up. Royal gained a friend that ended up in the hole and got it to Change to whew it was kill his dad or he wrought kill her and him. The dad said maybe my wife will die in pregnancy and I can be done with the both of em. Plus he met his wife which Is def jumping. She saw him walk in with a gun shoot wound after being gone for hours and asked him which Brother shot you. She jumped from the future. When she told royal to run she ran first so she heard the shot but got taken to where she needed to be and royal got taken where he needed to be. She had a middle jump before she got to him in the past. Plus who is falling star and flowers. Literally could be any Shoshone female young old or dead. Or alive and already established
Ep:4 “There are no Fritos in that hole, Karl. So munch up while you can big boy, cause I got plans for you!” Throws bag of Fritos at Karl. Josh Brolin is great.
Josh Brolin's "prayer" in the second episode of Season 1 is all you need to know about what an amazing actor he is. I learned from another video I saw about the making of "Outer Range" that the voice he uses for Royal Abbott (and Llewelyn Moss in "No Country for Old Men") is not his natural speaking voice. Acting! Genius!
❤ My husband and I loved Outer Range season 1 and feared the 2nd season would never appear. 😁 Happily, Amazon delivered on the new season. I really appreciate your behind-the-scenes info, especially that there IS a premeditated destination in store. Just last night, we were pondering that exact issue. Now I feel I can relax a bit and just enjoy wherever Outer Range goes in season 2.
listen, the first season was pretty cool and the mystery of the whole and everything else was compelling. When you start getting into this time, travel stuff and alternate timelines and all these things, it starts to lose me. Because when that’s the case, it seems like none of the characters actions have any weight to them anymore
As I was watching the show I was so sure I had seen Rhett in something else, I just knew I had, but when I went to look at imdb I hadn't seen anything else he was in, but then all of a sudden I figured out why I thought he looked so familiar, it was just that some facial expressions and looks reminded me so much of a young Andrew McCarthy.
I love the show!❤ I just hope it doesn’t get dropped halfway through. I’m so over shows that you get into deep and then are just dropped. Night Sky. Such a great story. West World, great story. Please finish the story so the people who are vested can have closure and decide, that was super cool or maybe that went too far in certain direction. I see the Executive Producers are cool guys and gals and want this story to work so get at it. We really like it. @JustWesterns Great information!
I love the show for the sheer mystery and questions it brings up on Quantum Physics, time travel being a river that flows simultaneously (Einstein), partially reincarnation, destiny or determination, etc. looking forward to season 3! No use guessing what the end storyline is because the writers really don’t know! Season 2 is different from season one, so I expect season three to throw in more suspense!
I agree !!! I fucking HATE musicals but it fits his compassionate loyal personality so much to keep singing, also the fact he's a good singer makes sense he sings alot I liked it alot, and I'm the last person who would
Meandered is a good description of the pacing in season 1 lol. Enjoyed season 2 more. Curious to see where it goes & if the time travel element is simply used as a metaphor in a bigger symbolic story or actually gets an explanation or both.
Cecilia = blind or hidden; Perry = traveler; Rhett = to speak/advisor; Amy = beloved; Autumn =fall or season of harvest; Billy (William) = resolute protector; Wayne = wagon maker; Luke = light-giving; Trevor = large village or homestead.
We love that show. We don't care of others like it or not. Different folks like different shows. I'm sure there are shows put there I'd not like that are acclaimed.
When Royal emerges from the hole as a little boy in 1968 (?), does he attempt to go back to his childhood home? Expecting to see his mother and sister, but instead finding the Abbot family (including Cecelia)? This would obviously point to Royal and CeCe being related(?)… OR did he emerge from the hole and not attempt to return to his family, but instead wander up to Abbot’s ranch? OR is it possible that Royal reemerged in some completely different location, suggesting that there are multiple holes? You’d be shocked at the amount of time spent pondering this…😅
Seeing as time loops, I guess there are just different timelines, because when he shot his father that version of him is the boy who crawled out of the whole there, but the boy that went through the whole with the sheriff was another timeline. I don't hink he ever attempted going back because he was so scared after he killed his dad.
Love this show. Makes you think…..of all the “phenomena “, or unidentified objects seen. Obviously, we might never know, but it does make you think. Definitely time for a good dose of 🍄😂
Sorry to see the Billy character die. My fav current show. But, given how long it took to get season 2, they should wrap it up in season 3 and give it everything.
Umm the recurring 9 reminds me of when number 8 was used "heavily" (there's that word again) in Back to the Future like the Delorean going 88mph, the clock tower stopped at 10:04 pm (22:04pm 4+4 =8), Doc Brown's 1640 (4:40pm 4+4=8) Riverside Drive address, October 26 (even thought yes its the tenth month octo means 8 and 2+6 you can figure that out).
Why is it that Royal so far is the only one who has traveled forward in time when he jumped/was pushed in the hole? When he jumped at age 8 he went forward over around 80 years, and when he was pushed he went forward enough in time to see the cult and oil rigs on the hole site. No one else so far has traveled this way, they’ve all travelled backwards. Even Perry still traveled behind his present self after his second jump when he ended up at the same night he killed Trevor Tillerson. Falling Star even travel back as well from 1972 to the 1800’s. Royal being the only one to travel forward instead of backward is significant somehow. Not sure though how Amy’s travels fit into all this yet since we don’t know technically when she travelled to yet. Maybe she also travelled forward too. Her and her grandpa though would be the only ones.
I really enjoyed this show, epically the acting! I am a little worried it is getting a little too entangled. Hopefully a season 3 can clear up some of the story lines.
I need season 3 now!! 😅 just finished season 2, man they really ramped things up. There is so much potential for storylines in season 3. I’m sad to be all caught up lol
I enjoyed it. A bit hard to understand but equally for the characters being sent through time. I like the music track in both seasons. Why it took two years to come out with two and a short seven episodes is beyond me. I hope they continue the series because a lot of Prime programming is garbage and unwatchable. The old classics are great ie The Wild Wild West, Grim, I Spy, etc.
Kind of a weird comment but I was wondering if you could maybe help me find a western I've been looking for for many years. Best I can remember it was about this guy who comes back to his hometown after years away and reconnects with an old lover but learns that the villain has taken over the town or something like that. She ends up getting stabbed and buried and at the end of the movie the hero is morally wounded and dies next to her grave. Best I can remember it would have been a 2000s or early 2010s film
If you put on the the closed captioning while watching it the lyrics in the lame singing scenes as well as other portions of the soundtrack are clearly linked to what's going on during the scene. It's actually pretty cheesy and doesn't justify the weird break in tone.
All the yellow and talk of seeing a sign leans into Robert Chambers work The King In Yellow, where everyone would look for the yellow sign and It would drive them mad.
@@JustWesterns in fact, I just re watched the first half of the season and caught at one point Royal flat out asks Autumn what the color yellow means to her. She replies with power, after a long pause.
I think that people are too used to action sci-fi and wanting things to be delivered right away and don't want suspenseful build up. And when they don't get that immediate dopamine hit of having all the answers right away they get frustrated and call it crappy. It's no fault of their own that's the attention span of this world now we expect all the information to be at our fingertips 24/7 with smartphones in the internet and all that. People just have a hard time accepting that some things take a slow burn.
Hoprfully their just writing the best script ever. Someone gone pick up up for a third season. Days of our lives has at least 140 seasons. But the best sci-fi I've seen in a while with unlimited Possibilities is canceled. Hollywood is so stupid.
here's another thing we didn't know. we didn't know that outer range would follow the same path as westworld and go completely south, with season 2 making less and less sense with each episode, and leaving very little hope for the future of this show. whenever tv deals with time travel, you have to be very very careful with your writing or everything quickly turns to shit. it can't be, 'anything goes'.
Westworld season 1 was epic but honestly season 2 was pretty good too and nicely concludes the story. Season 3 was terrible but 4 was better but ended poorly. It deserved to be cancelled as the story petered out.
wish this seeasonn had 10 episodes , 7 is just enough , its over already , now wait starts for 3rd seeason , hope its next yeear , hate wwhen show takes 2 yeears between seasons
Can we all agree that the dialogue is a 2/10? I was hoping after finding out there would be a season two that the writing would improve a bit but after a few grunts here and a couple of huffs there the dialogue was lackluster again. Hopefully they can improve the writing room by moving on from Neanderthals
So I'm tryna find out if autumn as a personality is a God or maybe the Controller of the hole. Something was goong on when she saw herself as amy does that mean everyone will see young amy. And she seems to bring that cigarette she gives her older self in the nursing home out of no where like she ate some goo and time traveled to get one cigarette
S1's mistake was the show thinking the mystery is so interesting that it's enough to keep viewers hooked. Yes the mystery is interesting, but no audience wants to sit there for 8 episodes having no understanding what's going on or why. That's not good story telling. The cliffhanger ending was super annoying.
Season 1 had to build up the universe and characters and the mystery of the hole. The story actually takes off right away and by episode 2 Autumn pushes Royal into the hole so you see Royal in the future where Autumn runs a time travel cult and mining companies are setup on the land extracting the mineral. So we got a glimpse in season 1 episode 2 already meaning they mapped out the story in advance.
I knew something was wrong in the second season. The tone was all different so now that makes sense with the new guy taking over... The episode where the sheriff went and lived in the Native American village for 4 years was the best thing about the second season. The worst part was Autumn turning into a psychotic macho bully... Typical of takeovers that go to the shock value right away to try and get ratings. However, she can't act or way out of a paper bag and so she was a bad choice for the protagonist.... Also, the pace was totally different and so I was bored most of the time in a more violent season 2
but she is bipolar and kind of went off her regular medication, and with bipolar 1 you can get delusions of grandeur and you can start seeing things that aren't there and a bunch of things like that. Some people will believe they are Jesus, like it can get that bad, so to me her becoming all psychotic wasn't very weird.
So, if one wears "cowboy" garb and resides anywhere that's rural and there's horses they have a drawl?! I've never heard a real Montanan speak with a southern drawl.....tropes.
I gave up on the series in the middle of S2 E1. I find adult Amy so utteriy annoying and frustrating that it drains the enjoyment for me. I was disappointed that she survived in the S1 finale. Trying to pick up S2 was a no go since she's very prominent.
Another season ain’t gonna happen or would’ve happened already. Everything has a price and this one has been met so all over or would have been done by now. So stop reading and let it rest
I'm Glad this show has its fans and audience, but I tried 8 times to get into this show and found it to be the same way you said it. Maybe they're from a different Spiderverse where it wasn't boring as shit 😂
@@doktordave420 I'm on e3 of s2. Kinda confusing at times. I'm sure it will come together. Some episodes are better than others, but that happens w any series u watch.
