Great video, this video got me to do my hd conversion I would also like to add that all you need is the hood the grill and top plastic cap for the bumper as the bumper is the same on the 1500 and 2500hd (same part number in LMC parts book) the plastic is taller and the bumper must set that 1-3/4" lower. I was on a budget and couldnt find a donor had to get the grill and bumper new and saved me some money not buying the bumper so I thought I would pass that on =)

Just an FYI for everyone wanting to do this. If you don't want to do any fab work to the bumper, you can buy a 1.5 inch body lift and if you don't put the bumper relocation bracket on it you can fit the HD grill and HD bumper pad.

HD bumper swap: I think you did a great job. More importantly you set the path for us other guys to take the leap. I may consider this for my Silverado. Thank you for filming this conversion!!

I know you already changed the hood on that unit, but in my opinion, an HD hood would killer! To me, this style front end looks good only if done up just right and I love both your trucks front ends. Nice work.

What a long-drawn-out PITA process. Unfortunately that's part of the process for having a unique looking truck or one that you didn't get factory otherwise everybody would have one. Obviously Idealy you would want a HD with the front torn apart right next to you so you can see how everything was done and be able to go back and forth. I love your tenacity and your ingenuity. Thank you so much for taking the time to film this detailed process. It definitely has me inspired to put this further on down on my to-do list for my 02 Silvey but on my to do list nonetheless. 👍

I really don't know much about all terrain tires. but the wifey has been asking me for all terrain tires for her SUV, and the ko2 are at the top of my list. I know the tire guy gave a deal on at3 for like $650 and ko2 like $980.

I did mine the easy way. Sanded/filed the grill down until it fit.

I am not 100% sure, but I think that the 1500 series GMC bumper fits better and has the drop in the center that is needed for the HD grill. Gonna try it on my Burban this fall. If it does I'll post a video on you tube. If any one that reads this knows anything about it please reply and let me know.

I have a 2000 GMC 3500HD and it's very different from the standard 3500. My truck sits higher because the frame is massive. It has a filler panel below the grill and above the front bumper. It also has a Dana 80 rear-end, 19.5" 10-lug wheels, and a 4L80E trans with trans cooler. It was originally sold as a cab & chassis. They don't make those HDs anymore.

Seems like allot! Great job. I came to see what parts I can interchange with non hd because a deer was hit in my HD and probably harder to find used parts for it than 2500 or 1500

Can just cut the original brackets off and just drill a hole through the frame to stick a bolt through it a just make the correct sized spacer that goes in between the frame and mount on the bumper

looks neat I got an obs diesel bumper that i need to put on mine they look so much better with the diesel bumpers

Hey there, I’m interested in doing this to my 1500hd and I was wondering couldn’t I just do the 2500hd top pad and not have to lower the bumper? Could anyone help me with this?

It was thinking, if you would've tried the 05 Silverado bumper (seeing that it accommodates the bottom of the grille) instead of attempting the modification of the actual mounts, if that would be a better and easier option.

What size bolts and nuts did you use on your mounts for the bumper?

Why didn't you just mend the hd top sheet metal to the original hood.? Just asking?

turned out great i like i was gonna ask u didnt like the newer silverado front end the 05 and 06 hd look but then again u would have too get both fenders to fit but ur truck turned out good

Sooo how exactly do you get the 1” 1/2? Like do you measure from top to bottom or bottom to top Or you just try to get it in between so you can leave a fling on the bottom?

Nice. I’m trying to get the bottom valance from a 2500 onto my 1500 bumper because I like the look of the extra opening or “air dam” I guess you could call it but I can’t find them anywhere online and I can’t find one in the junkyard either lol. So I’m kinda screwed.

Why did u have to lower the bumper? Is that bc it is aftermarket? Will an 01 need bracket dropping? I thought just bumper cap and grill
