Truly amazing...you are an inspiration. Heading to the gym right now with your effort locked in my mind. I'm 74, and between the SkiErg and the rower I hope I can add 20+ years to my life. Thanks again for giving me hope.
This was AMAZING! WOW! I just started training for THIS using rubber cables and weighted pull-ups, until I can purchase a SkiErg . MAN, I haven't seen too many guys with your muscle mass have CRAZY-HIGH cardio on your level! I'm in absolute AWE of your effort!😮 RESPECT!💪🏻😬 Btw, are you related to Eddie "the Beast" Hall (world's strongest man)? You kind of favor him.
I did 5 x 100 sub 18 seconds and that was tough. That distance is murderous. It’s hard to explain to someone who hasn’t ski erg..there’s no legs to help you out!!
Your average watts was really close to 500 watts. Which also means that you could run 1 mile in 6min 11seconds given that you run as good as you ski. Which also puts you under 3h30min in marathon given that you make your body handle the rough beating for that long. Truly amazing!
@@jameshall6309 super duper amazing! Your a beast! If you could keep your heart and loose 47kg of weight ( which is really hard to do ). You could take all world records in running and still have a weight of 75kg making you 10-20kg heavier than those runners. That is how extremely strong your heart is..
is there a reason your plan was aiming for a positive split time, rather than negative splits? When I was a rower I would aim for my slowest 500m split to be my second and 3rd, being faster in the first and forth.
@@jameshall6309 not in real world cross ski contest, tour de france or any running or rowing ( especially true for running as watt/kg scale nearly linear with speed but not so true for cycling as they can use their wits and draft and so on ). But yes in indoor skierg races and contests alike which I'm a huge fan of!
Amazing effort. Different body types are suited to the different machines and different types of cardio. He's great on the SkiErg, but running won't be his forte. Likely a taller, longer-limbed rower would be faster on the rower too. And for swimming? Think 'rock' in water. He's the man for the SkiErg though. Great effort.
Thanks for this delightful yet painfully obvious observation Derek. I played rugby for a living and had to run alot. I'm actually age group national standard swimmer I have U know. Still swim 3k a week. Everyone will have a endurance activity they are better suited too. Not to say they can't be good at others.
@@jameshall6309 Nice one, James. It would be great to see you in a competition on the SkiErg. With the crowd and the atmosphere, you'd likely be able to go even faster.
cardio ability is cardio ability. He could probably run a few sub 7 minute miles without any problem, maybe even closer to 6 minutes or so. Probably after 2-3 weeks of running, the husky/muscular look would become a bit leaner.
