I have a 07 with 265,000 miles. I've used full synthetic and change the transmission fluid. I've had zero issues. I'll probably get another one. The only thing I upgraded was the radio. I added a dvd player with aux for rear passengers, blue tooth, and backup camera. This car is great on gas. The ride is comfortable for me. I'm 6'5, 260lbs.

I loved the hideaway covers in the center controls. That was classy. Have you had problems with the headliner? Those that I tested from that generation had rear headliner detachment.
i had an '04 avalon XL with the split bench seat and column shifter, reminded me of riding in an old buick, it was like a japanese buick in its absorbently smooth ride, quietness and general feeling of serenity. i miss it.

This is Lexus quality. If your car has shaking through the steering wheel it's because you bought it used and there's a problem with it. Mine doesn't do that. It's smooth as silk. No vibration whatsoever.
2006. A nightmare. 4 alternators and 5 fuckin batteries in two and a half years constant electrical issues. Parasitic drains and shorts noone can seem to fix can't get rid of car. Still owe two years on it. Noone can fix it. Had two nervous breakdowns over this car noone can help me. Broke trying to fix 2006 Toyota Avalon. Worst car ever. I'm decay and overwhelmed wtf
@@ronniedrake8196 As you can attest, the battery and alternator is not the cause of a parasitic drain. Get a mechanic that’s not just a parts changer. It needs a real diagnosis.
My parents got rid of it after the third wheel alignment. Anytime you hit a big bump in these cars the steering wheel goes off center and it's around $300 for a four-wheel alignment in my area. My parents went back to PT Cruisers and I drive an old Mercedes now. Toyota does market these cars as a luxury car, so I'm not sure why everybody who's a fanboy is trying to say it isn't. The fact is it's a mediocre car with a great engine and transmission and that is true for most Toyota products.
08/229/2023 : I just purchased a well maintained 2006 Avalon Limited w/ 107K on it for prosperity sake. I bought it to have in the future. I really don't like the body style of the newer ones. I don't have a single complaint ! Everyone is different though, you have some valid complainnts. I agree on the power ports being inconvenient.
I thought I was the ONLY person that ABSOLUTELY hated the lumber in the middle of my back!!! I took my lambskin covers from my truck and put it over the beautiful leather seat with padding effectively changing the lumber, now it is an absolute sleepy dream to drive
I had a 2007 Avalon, and the only thing I hated about it was that it had a transverse V6 engine. Which meant changing the spark plugs is a big PAIN IN THE ASS. Other than that, I fell in love with the reliable 2GR FE engine. Never had any problems with that oil line.
Chase Miller Glad to hear you enjoyed yours. I honestly think I could have enjoyed this one had the seats been different, the seats seriously killed my back, it wasn’t even a choice it was so bad. I did love the engine, the power delivery with the VVT was amazing. I’ve had cars that handled better, cars that accelerated faster, but for a car that would leap on command at any speed this car was unbeatable!
Matt's Garage I had a little bit of the same problem with the seat, but I guess my back is just more tolerant. But yeah that engine was quick, I would race against people with Golfs and the look on their face is priceless.
I recently traded in my car for an 07 Avalon XL with 100,000 miles on it. 1 owner and well taken care of. I love this car!!!!!! Coming from 5 previous benz's and a die hard benz lover........the Avalon is my new thing!!!

I have a 2009 Avalon XLS and I have been very happy with the ride and feel this is a quality build and finish no road feel through the steering wheel it’s been smooth as glass and I love its reliability and dependability it’s every bit Lexus that Toyota builds !!!
I don't think that would help, the seat was just completely the their wrong shape for me, they don't support my back past halfway up, so it just levers against the bottom of my back. We actually parted ways with this car a few months after I made this review... The rear suspension would not hold an alignment on our rough roads, after 3 expensive 4 wheel alignments we gave up on it. We were also having some random electrical glitch with the headlights. I drive a E-class Mercedes now and my parents have an Audi A6.
OK I finished the video only commenting because I’ve had an 05 Limited Avalon since brand new in early 05 and nothing was as nice and just has this bag them for under 50 grand it was better than all the Lexuses except for the, it had speed control Cruz remote start keyless everything voice activated everything I thought in 2005 it was one of the best luxury cars on the road although the ride and steering could be considered a little more sporty than true luxury cars and this car is faster but probably with a little less power than Lincolns and caddies, that’s my opinion the car was 35 grand fully loaded plus tax and license of course. I’m glad I still have it right around 250 K miles
Road feedback is due to tires not the car, oh and the sunroof rattle can be fixed by tightening the torx screws on the side of the sunroof, this is a common problem in all toyota and lexus models, had the sunroof actually cave in my lexus
Faisal Khan Nope, sorry, we had 2 sets of rims and tires for it and it was the same, those same brand and model of tire run smooth and quiet on my PT Cruiser. The sunroof had a cross bar piece that was linkage of some sort, just a rod sorta deal that loosely ran thru holes in steel and that’s where it rattled. There was nothing that could be done from what I seen and since I don’t use sunroofs I just stuffed a rag in it to hold it from rattling. We got rid of this car shortly after this review, awesome engine but the rest of the car was disappointing.
dirp birp A lot of people really seem to like them, I have back issues so a lot of seats don’t work good for me. That said my mom also found it uncomfortable once the novelty of a new car wore off, she sold it a few months after this video (she’s only 5’, 3”).
So far my 2,07 is running great still no problems since I told you I bought it it have a lot of power on the highway I feel is like a brand new car I am the second owner and she’s beautiful everyone Loves it❤️ I have the color mint green like the color of money I’m in Love with it mines is a XLS don’t have Bluetooth and I’m afraid to put any aftermarket on it because everything is electrical and it might damage something that later might damage something else the car I feel is as is don’t put nothing that doesn’t belong to me I can deal with it longest it takes me where I need to go without any problems and the seats doesn’t bother my back at all Love driving it the car looks and feels brand new no scratches no rust beautiful inside and out and it feels like an 8cyliner if you want to buy and cheap and powerful car this is the one you won’t be disappointed the power it have 💪😬 have a happy holidays everyone 🎅🏽🎉and stay save out there
When a those 12v covers are spring loaded it’s because they wanna make sure they stay closed in case u drop coins down there and that way they won’t short out
I just purchased a 2005 Toyota Avalon Limited with 82,500 miles. I have it for a week and a half and I love it. Just watching your review, I honestly feel like you're just nitpicking about everything. The car is very comfortable it's fast it's luxurious and it handles the road really well. The trunk is massive and you can store a lot in the trunk. And for a 2005 I honestly think that the body style still fits in with today's style of cars. You are honestly just making up things that you don't like. I can tell you are a very picky person
I have a 2007 Toyota Avalon Limited. It has the 3.5 Liter V6. It has the FUEL EFFICIENCY of a 4 Cylinder if driven conservatively, which I do most of the time, and it has the POWER of a V8 when I put the PEDAL to the METAL. It has been a great vehicle so far. It rides just as good, if not better than a BMW, Cadillac, Lincoln and Mercedes-Benz.
Just picked up an ‘09 limited from the original owner with 109k. The only mod done by the original owner was slightly stiffer struts all around. Still glides but does seems to behave well when cornering without any float. Even though it’s an ‘09 I will keep an eye on that oil line that you mentioned.
I have 99 avalon xls. I love it, some work has to be done on it. But the car is fast for 200 hp and 216 lb of torque. The 1mz-fe engine sounds like a muscle car when idle or moving in 1st or 2nd gear or flooring it.
Matt's Garage i bought my for 1800 and the dealer did say the engine was rebuilt and some parts were replaced with lexus parts. It might last for 400000 miles, maybe forever with proper maintenance on it
I hope that is the mileage and not the price LOL! Yes if it only has 90,000 miles on it it should be good for a long time still. Of course like any used car you don’t want to just take the seller’s word for it, you want to look the car over very carefully, there can still be hidden problems regardless of the mileage or car.
@@CarswithNash I read online that there can be a recall on an oil tube so I think I’ll have that checked out. I think I should take it to a Mydas shop or something. My first car hopefully so I’m excited. Bought a Blue Driver obd2 scanner to help out with making sure it runs great
@@Doberbull The oil hose that ruptures I pointed out in my video... There is no way to inspect it you just replace it with the upgraded part. That one looks nice enough in the pictures, the price seems high to me but I’m not familiar with US pricing, that is actually exactly what I sold the one in the video for but that was a couple years ago now.
@@CarswithNash I’m going to have a mechanic look at the tube and see if it’s the new one or not, because I looked up the VIN number and it said there were no recalls on that specific car. So I don’t know if it actually needs the new hose or whether it already has it or what
I drive a 2003 Buick Lesabre and thats a true luxury car. Its got the top of the line celebration package with vinyl roof, chrome wheels, upgraded suspension, premium sound, split bench, and very comfy. I love it
Lucas Hahn Yes I've driven a few of those Buicks & found them to be very comfy cars, the Avalon is certainly not to that level of luxury imo. Those are solid cars as well. I'm not sure how the newer Buick luxury cars are, they seem nice but I have no experience with them. Thanks for watching.
Didn’t work out well for our rough roads, very weak rear suspension so it kept going out of alignment, 4 wheel alignments are pretty expensive because they have to recalibrate the steering angle sensor and everything, so after the third wheel alignment my mom sold it and went back to a PT Cruiser. The best thing about Toyotas is the resale value, we were able to pretty much break even on the car after a year of driving.
@@CarswithNash aware of the cost of 4 wheel alignments, only 80 bucks at our local Smith Davis. Cheaper than the cost of a new tire! I'd like to add, no sedan is made for potholes and rough roads and will ruin any alignment
@@rustystaley7150 PT Cruisers and Dodge Neons seem to hold up to are pot holes in our area no problem, same with my Lincoln Town Car and current Mercedes. With the back of that Toyota jacked up I could literally grab the wheel and move it back and forth about an inch and a half and literally flex the suspension mounting points just by hand, the rear K frame is made of like 16 gauge metal which is borderline sheet metal it’s so thin. Just to give you an example, my mom was driving through some road construction in this car once and she hit one of those areas where the pavement was cut off and drops about 2 inches suddenly, as soon as the car hit that drop the steering wheel went a couple inches off centre and started pulling on her! Another time we tried to take a family road trip in the car with 5 average people on board and a bit of luggage, the tires were literally rubbing on the wheel wells going around corners. When you get those wheel alignment done they need to recalibrate the steering angle sensor, for $80 I would have my doubts that they are actually doing that, to properly align one of these cars you have to put all sorts of shims in and stuff, it’s pretty time consuming.
There is, I had it set at the minimum amount, I tried every combination of settings the seat had plus a variety of pillows and blankets... Nothing made it tolerable for me.🤷♂️

Hi, there. I saw you said your parents replaced the vvti oil return line through Toyota campaign. However, the replacement parts still has rubber and prone to rupture after 90k miles. The best way is to replace it with full metal part from 2009 model Avalon model. You can go to toyotanation to search for it
Yes a few people have commented this now, that was a really bad dealer that we bought this car from obviously (they had tried to cover up some other issues too but I forced them to fix them). My parents sold this car a few months after this video.
Looking for a FWD car to eventually dolly tow behind a RV. Currently it would do second vehicle duty as well as occasional road trips at 80-85 mph between Iowa and Florida. We are a couple, approaching old age, bought a house in FL and still working. Not too concerned with feedback but it must be a comfortable highway ride and eventually towable. What are your thoughts?
Just bought a 2007 avalon drives smooth only thing i noticed is on slow acceleration i get a diesel type noise seems to go away a bit when warming up I'm a first time toyota driver I'm reading it's a normal sound these engines have hmm . Idles quiet drives great though.
ANTHONY FIGUEROA I don’t recall experiencing a noise like that, they make a bit of a “tick” at idle, but otherwise I found it very smooth and quiet. Make absolute sure the oil line I pointed out in the video has been updated, I’ve seen these cars for sale for $500 because of bad engines from the line failing. Being that the noise is going away as it warms up, it could be a faulty sensor or something. I assume you’ve changed the oil when you bought it, if it had dirty, broken down oil it might do that as well.

I’m not all the way through yet just at the part where you don’t like all the little doors that open and close on the radio and cupholders and I love all that stuff and the seats are perfect for me and I am 6 foot five 330 pounds, maybe just come before a bigger dude but I agree on the plug-ins are in shitty spots. @@caioribeiro8582 sorry for the late reply. My 2000 was rock solid at 345000 miles when I sold it and had all original parts! I mean all I ever did was brakes. My 2009 at 230000 miles so far has had spark plugs replaced, struts, ignition coils go bad, motor mounts go bad radiator, intermediate steering shaft, etc. Also its alot more of a hassle to change oil and transmission fluid. The 2000-2004 is the best Avalon period in my opinion. I would love to have my 2000 back .. oh and the 2009 has no front leg room. At 6'0 tall its not enough. My 2000 seat would slide back so far you couldn't reach the pedals if you wanted. That's how much more adjustability you had. The 2000 was just so much better built and with more quality that the 05-12 doesn't deserve to be called an Avalon
@@BruceTheSillyGoose Thanks for sharing your experience. I found it really cool they offered it and wish they kept it on some of the later models. Leg room looks so nice, my knees always hits center counsels on cars with counsels. The steering column shifter is nice and ergonomic too.
Monier Sheard Memory seats were optional, I think it was only standard on the Limited (this was an XLS), I just felt it should’ve been a standard feature on a car like this. As for the rattle, what can I say, mine had a rattling sunroof, creaking dash and rattling cup holder, very annoying, be glad yours isn’t.

I might buy a 2005 toyota avalon xls for my first car. Its a nice dark blue colour. My uncle also owns an Avalon, i dont know which year but its similar to the 2005 one Ill be looking at. I always youtube videos of cars before going to see them lol. The problems with the cars I looked at was they had so much visual damage, hidden in the pictures of the ads posted. The cars weren't even worth test driving because they were so damaged and priced so high. Im hoping the Avalon is different. The cars were just mistreated and obviously hit a few things lol

Its really helpful having someone that can point out major issues you might not notice because I've never owned a car I have no idea really what to look for but I'm learning from RU-vid and the more I look at cars lol
I'd be really interested to know what you'd think of a newer Avalon and a Lexus ES 350 if you ever get a chance to drive those. Btw did you have a mechanic check out the car before you bought it? It sounds like there's something wrong with yours when you mention the creaks and steering wheel feedback. I would not have bought it with all those issues like the wheel bearings tbh. Best of luck with your back, I have a very long history of back problems as well.
I test drove a '16 360 and a '15 XLS. The rides were about the same. Neither were as quiet and serene as an '05 Avalon Limited that I drove and I was surprised by the level of road noise from the Lexus. I heard that was an issue with 350s. The 350 had a larger rear seat and trunk. But, the interior of the Avalon was much better, included GPS, and was easier to control. The 350 has the knob which takes a learning curve patience. I preferred the Avalon, but kept my Camry.
I've had more than 5 in this car already, and I've never suffered any kind of drag. It's really a smooth ride and comfort for long trips! Especially given it's an ES

Watson Lee They compare closely with a ‘00-‘07 Ford Taurus, they aren’t really in the luxury category imo, just a nice family sedan. The engine is very nice, powerful & smooth as well as the trans shifts nice etc. The handling is lacking so as quick as it can get up to speed it’s far from sporty either. The interior is appealing looking but for me it’s not at all comfortable & the materials are low grade & don’t hold up (leather is just veneer, lots of creaks & rattles etc). If you are looking for a car to pamper you & make you feel special this isn’t it imo. Having said all that some people love them & have claimed they prefer them over BMW’s etc, for me I don’t get that at all, they lack that level of refinement.
So does it take bumps like nobody’s business on the highway or does it have a lot of steering wheel noise and what was the word you used report but I know what you mean I haven’t really noticed that on mine I have only really had one lifetime of the vehicle problem and that’s the transmission between first and second gear. I think because it’s the first year of that the car with that style in that power train
John Reff It did ride very nice on the highway, I had looked into doing something with the seats, but with the air bags all connected into that it would’ve been too hard. I did enjoy the power it had so I could’ve forgiven most the faults if the seats worked for me.
i dont think that line was updated in this car, they might of replaced the line with a new, faulty one, see the rubber part of that line, that is where it would fail, i replaced this same oil line in my 07 avalon, was the rubjber one originally, i ordered the same line but it was an all metal line,l so no chance of it rupturing like the old one
I’m not that surprised to find that out, we paid over $500 to have that changed by the Toyota dealer we bought it from, but they were real crooks and tried to sell us the car with all sorts of issues. When I initially inspected it I literally found $2500 worth of safety issues wrong with it, they told me they put fresh filters in it and the cabin air filter and air filter were both completely clogged! When I initially inquired about the car I asked about the oil line and was assured that it wasn’t an issue on that car and then I later found out it had already ruptured when the car was much newer and been replaced with the same faulty part! Then they fired my salesman in the middle of the deal so I had no one to talk to and no one else at the dealer would talk to me. It was like the car deal from hell lol! So yeah I’m not too surprised to hear they also ripped me off on that line, it looks like a little better quality and thicker rubber than the previous hose but I also wondered why it wasn’t just a metal line.
@@CarswithNash yeah, that blows, yeah I took out the line with rubber, and got the all metal line from a toyota dealer themselves, so not like it's an aftermarket part, just a part for a newer year car, like 2008 and up like you said
@@jovanniemendoza7292 I don't remember, I did all the work myself, so wherever you can find the all metal line online, like 60 dollars maybe, just be careful when trying to get to the other end of it, the timing cover on mine snapped where the power steering pump mounts on the bottom, jb weld fixed that tho, 20k miles Strong
@@jovanniemendoza7292 make sure you get the correct crush washers too, and uf possible get the ones that are connected to eachother in pairs, because each end of the line gets 2 washers, snd having them connected makes it way easier
No I’m literally comparing it to a Dodge Neon… (that’s the car I had before it and went back to after it) I’ve also owned several Lincoln‘s and Mercedes but they are in a completely different realm.
I just bought this car 2,07 but now u getting me worried about that oil leak problem how much did it cost to get that fix the inside to me is beautiful and love the seats too but just concerned about that oil leaks I pray 🙏 it doesn’t cost much thank you for sharing… also I think u right about those buttons for the air conditioner is kind of slow to started up 🥴 but other then that she’s beautiful 🥰
Glad you are enjoying it. If I recall it was around $500 at the Toyota dealer to have it done. It might be a bit cheaper in your area, I am in Canada and the labour rates are really high for that sort of thing here. But yes definitely get it done, I have seen a couple of these cars on marketplace for only $500 because of a failed engine due to that issue.
I heard something the other day that says here in the states we pay a ton for our used cars and in Canada they’re not worth squat!? I just wonder if that’s true but you got nine grand for it great miles like I said mine has 250,000 miles, not sure what that is in kilometers around what 450? I went to American schools, California none the less
John Reff Used cars may seem cheap here looking at them online, but our climate is very hard on cars so they don’t tend to last as well and most used cars here need work and have rust. This Avalon was rust free, a very clean car, but it still had a list of issues when we bought it (bad wheel bearings, stuck brake calipers, bad alignment and of course the rattles I pointed out in my review), that’s just the reality of our climate and the rough roads we drive on. We just bought an ‘03 PT Cruiser that came from California and I’ve never seen such a clean old car, like brand new and all the suspension and bearings appear original, here we gotta change that stuff by the miles it has (111,000miles) because the rough roads, grit, salt and moisture ruin it all in record time. 250,000miles is 400,000kms, miles x 1.6 =‘s kms.
Matt's Garage That does make sense so up there somebody sees a car that clean and it’s still going to be worth the money and worth it and mine had a little list of things to fix brakes rotor issues little stuff but be careful with the transmission on that PT cruiser did you get a four-cylinder or six
I know the Limited came with it standard, maybe it was just an option on the XLS. From everything I hear those older models like you are getting are a far nicer car.
@@CarswithNash It seems that way. These cars have a more aesthetically pleasing interior styling, but the previous generation had secondary sun visors, so you tell me... Maybe Toyota was beginning to feel like they were giving away too many premium features on their non-Lexus flagship and decided to cut out a few creature comforts here and there to make them less competitive with Lexus.
The things that were an issue for you i believe I could tolerate. I think I'll buy, maybe a 2008 base model.What do you think? By the way, the Avalon I'm looking at has 164,000 miles on it, and they're asking around $6,000. Is that a fair price to pay for so many miles?
NOW WHAT?! That sounds a little pricy to me, I sold this car for $8,250 shortly after I made this video, it was the XLS which is the trim below a limited and it had 73,000 miles at the time and pretty much mint for it’s age. One thing I never mentioned in the review and part of why my mom ended up selling, the rear suspension is not very sturdy, we drove the car very little but we have pretty rough roads around here and it kept going out of alignment from bumps, the steering wheel would go off center and it would start pulling etc, ended up being rather costly as it has a steering angle sensor that needs to be recalibrated each time it aligned. It was also poor in the snow and the power windows all froze up in the winter and refused to ever go down, the fact it had a weak heater didn’t help that. I guess test drive one and see what you think, I was fairly kind in the review because I know most owners seem to really like them and our climate here is pretty extreme for cars, in a warm climate they’d be far better I think. Seriously consider an ‘04-‘11 Lincoln Town Car, 3x the car for half the price, little harder on gas but worth it.

John Reff It was around 112,000 kms which is around 70,000miles, I paid $9,000 for it and we sold it for around the same a year later (we had put on new tires and a few things). Thanks for the sub, that’s very appreciated! Yes the XLS was the step below the limited, that’s why it didn’t have memory seats etc.

I found the ride quality good, the seats were my main issue, if they fit you they may be fine, I hear other reviewers say they are comfy but for me they hit me in all the wrong spots & really trigger my pain.
@@CarswithNash i also test-drove the bucket seat version of the '00 avalon XLS and its seats were straight without that painful curve you pointed out about the '05. the seat comfort in fact [of the '00-'04] was the first thing i noticed. never got a chance to even see the '05'-'12 generation in the flesh, not a one around my neck of the woods. out here in the sticks are mainly SUVs. scouring the online ads for this later generation of avalons but all are a half-days drive up north from me, nevertheless i must bite the bullet and block out a day to drive up there and test drive one just to get it out of my system.
Elijah Griffith Envoy’s tend to do that... Well these cars have a pretty solid engine, be sure you’ve got the upgraded VVT oil feed line and you should be trouble free.
It just have the cigarette lighter that you can plug-in a usb and a aux but no Bluetooth you can change a Bluetooth Radio system on it and backup camera
@@JS-fm3xg Pretty much the same car, Toyotas with low miles bring big money that’s all I know I’m not that up on the current pricing and it depends where you live also. This one was a $9000 car at the time of the video but that’s in Alberta Canada where the demand is pretty low for Toyotas.

@@JS-fm3xg Like I say I’m probably just not familiar enough to advise you on that, my mom long ago sold this car and to be honest none of us were very fond of it. There are so few of these cars in my area that if I did a search right now I’d probably be lucky to find a single one for sale… still I have seen a few come up for sale cheap with bad engines due to the oil line I mentioned in the video so make sure you check into that and be sure it has the upgraded one on there. Also be warned they don’t hold up to rough roads well, this one required two or three wheel alignments in the short time we had it, one hard bump and the steering wheel would be off center.
You must not get out much... Sorry but those seats are just brutal and everybody else who ever sat in that car agreed with me. My mom sold the car shortly after this review was filmed and went back to driving her PT Cruiser full time because she said it was much more comfortable.
@JohnC-rz7cy She recently changed up to an Audi A6, she commented how much nicer it was to drive than this Toyota. That is the problem with Toyota, they might be reliable and everything, (athough I don't know, this one had it's share of problems), they are just horrible to drive and that's right, across the board, I have never driven a Toyota that was really enjoyable to drive, they just aren't, it's not something they even try for.
and this Avalon would be considered near luxury sedan... now my 2011 Audi A8 L is consisdered luxury..and the price reflects that at $105k new, compared to this Avalon which was $30K new.
Julio Roberts Well it is a car review, the whole point is to give MY opinion on the car. I paid a premium price for this car based on it being a “luxury car” when it is in fact one of the most uncomfortable cars I’ve driven (seats are horrible!). I don’t feel I’m being “too picky” when I can’t stand sitting in the car more the 15mins, I bought it for comfort & was forced to resell it as I found it undriveable. My mom owned the car for nearly a year & came to a similar conclusion & also sold it (she drives a PT Cruiser now & is much happier). I just felt I should give an honest & realistic review of the car for those who are actually looking for comfort on the road. FYI I currently own 3 Lincoln’s & a Mercedes, I know what to expect out of a luxury car.
Matt's Garage I respect your opinion. But, sometimes living in luxury means nothing when it comes to quality. In my opinion the Toyota will outlast that Mercedes and Lincoln any day. I bet you have to really empty the piggy bank when it’s time to repair that Mercedes and or Lincoln.
Julio Roberts First “living in luxury” is not an option for me, I suffer from chronic pain & driving is very painful for me, a good luxury car makes a big difference & that’s why I buy them, it’s not to make a impression. Beyond that we had several issues with this Toyota during our short ownership & found that the parts for it were pricy and it was not so easy to work on, that was another reason we moved on from it so quickly. My Lincoln’s have not been trouble free either but they are cheap to buy parts for & relatively simple to self maintain. My Benz is new to me but it is an extremely well built car, comparing it to an Avalon would be silly, it is very clearly made from superior materials & having ordered some parts for it already I have found it to be very cheap to maintain as well. Of course those cars are older then the Avalon & all cars have gone down hill over time, still I’d say Toyota did a bad job with this car, it’s just not enjoyable to live with.
@@CarswithNash If it's uncomfortable after 15 minutes would't you have noticed that in the test drive? If you're so picky about the seats why wouldn't you take it for an extended drive?
Alexander Milentis I’m not “picky”, not sure where you get that from. I’m also not rich, from every other review I found on this car the seats were suppose to be super comfy... So when this car went on clearance for a very low price at a dealer 2hrs from me I decided to gamble and put a deposit on it as I wasn’t able to get there in person for several days... Yes this was a big mistake, but honestly I was looking at Kia Fortes at the time, this came up for the same price and I figured it had to be nicer since it was a “luxury car”, however it wasn’t, I would bet I’d been much happier with the Kia. One nice thing is since I bought it cheap I was able to sell it quickly for a break even price.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I had to comment though that what you are saying about the climate control is just plain stupid. Dude, I live in canada also, set it to 22 and let it do its thing. There is no reason at all to set auto climate to max heat.
22 is freezing for me dude, I aim for 25 at least and when I have a chill as much as I can get. Shortly after doing this review I discovered the cabin air filter was completely clogged, the dealer I bought it from told me they had fully serviced it for me but they lied, so that heater did perform a lot better after changing that. I now drive an ‘06 ML350 and it has dials for the temp, but the fan speed is buttons, they just react much faster, I can raise and lower my fan speed in seconds and get back to driving. I watched a lot of reviews before buying the Avalon and most of them just raved about what a great car it was, none of them had any criticism. That’s why I made this review and was completely honest with what I liked and didn’t like about the car so somebody could decide for themselves if the things I mentioned we’re going to be a problem for them or not.
I appreciate your effort in producing and posting this video but respectfully suggest being much more concise and / or editing more aggressively as well as MUCH LESS REPETITION. This could have EASILY accomplished the same goals in less than 5 minutes (instead of nearly 18).

I have a 2005 Toyota Avalon limited. It literally has everything that you said you didn't like about your mom's xls. Maybe try looking at that? And possibly try test driving it at the dealership before you buy it? You might have found those issues before buying it.
Brittany Lewis I’m not sure what you’re talking about “has everything you said you didn’t like about your mom’s”, sorry but I’m truly unclear on what you mean by that, I don’t think I complained about the car lacking features, it just wasn’t nice or comfortable to drive was my main issue with it. I’m pretty sure I never overlooked any of the equipped features, I actually read most of the owner’s manual + they showed me all it’s features at the dealer I bought it from. You are right, it’s always best to buy a car in person, the dealer we bought it from was a ways away so we were unable to make it there for nearly a full week, they had just put the car on sale for a greatly reduced price & we felt it was too good of deal to miss, they refused to hold it without a $2,000, non refundable deposit. My mom sold the car a few months after this video, she recovered the money we had into it, that is the one thing I love about Toyota, the resale value! I’m happy you enjoy yours & many owners seem to, it just wasn’t the car for me & my mom also came to the same conclusion about it.
I test drove two, a Touring and a Limited. I was about to purchase both separately. However, I was offered a 2015 Camry SE with 36k miles on it, so I took it instead. The Touring had 115k and the Limited had 96k respectively. The Touring had the sports suspension. The Limited was way more floaty. They had lumbar adjustments for the driver's seat, so I don't know why he had such a problem. The 14.1cu trunk was the problem I had with the car. This was the only year the model had a 280hp engine. 2006-2018 had 268. I loved the covers and that was another enticement for me. Both had an issue with the rear part of the headliner coming loose. Otherwise, I loved the car. Dude must confused this with a Lexus. It's a full-size sedan which competes against Chargers, 300s, and Tauruses, not Caddies, Lincolns, BMWs and Lexuses.

The 2005 Avalon doesn't actually make 280 hp, there was just a change in the way horsepower was measured during that year bringing the figure down to 268 for future models up until 2018.
Lexus is Toyota's luxury sedan anywho you hate the whole damn car, go to an XLS or higher model for memory seats you have the base model. I put two shopping carts worth of groceries in my TA trunk and atleast 3 adult human bodies 😂😂 you crazy if I had to chose a car over a luxury one Toyota Avalon will be mine
Paige _Judah Toyota classes the Avalon as their flagship sedan, it’s regularly referred to as a luxury car, Lexus is made by Toyota but to the public is a separate brand, thus this is Toyota’s luxury car. Also as I said at the beginning of the video and you can see on the trunk lid during the video, this car is a XLS... I also said that I “loved” the engine and transmission, aside from that you are right, I hate the rest, my Dodge Neon is way nicer to drive imo. Anyways thankfully we are all different and I’m glad you love your Avalon, if you had stuck to the end of the video you would’ve seen that I still recommended the car and I made clear that the issues I had were mostly a matter of preference and opinion and that the car is generally well liked and reliable...

Yeah you are too picky very expensivery extremely picky and if you bought the car use. Then you should have had a mechanic check it out as far as the suspension. Is concerned and anything else but? Having the. Issue? OK about how the fair motor starts up. Just being real Patty I mean what do you expect from any cars HVAC system? You still have to let the car warm up before you can defrost the front window. Wow
Honestly I’m having trouble making much sense of your comment, but apparently you’re indicating that I’m being too picky. I have owned over 80 cars of all kinds in my life, only 1 was brand new, most have been $1000 or less to buy. The Avalon was one of the most expensive cars I’ve owned. Honestly I think the car is an overrated pile of garbage, I was kind to it in this review because I know how Toyota fan boys are. My parents sold the car shortly after this video and went back to their PT Cruiser.
@JohnC-rz7cy I currently use a PT Cruiser to clear all the snow on my large acreage, It handles having a 400 lbs snowblade hanging off the front no problem and will push 2 feet of snow, I would love to see any Toyota car do the same.
Yes I tried every possible position, the seats are just horrible. Honestly I was easy on this car in this review because I know they have such a following but still one has to be realistic.
I don't understand why you want a dead steering feel? You want to know whats happening on the road. Also the avalon is just a nice camry. It's the same chassis shell out the cash for an actual luxury sedan and I'm sure you'll find what you like... maybe.
Isaiah Carlos Glenn Firstly, I never said I like “dead steering”, the Avalon doesn’t give feedback, it just gives a constant annoying drone on anything but a glassy smooth surface. I’m aware that the Avalon is a dressed up Camry, I’ve never driven a modern Camry and I’m certainly not inspired to by that detail. You must have missed the part in the review where I mention my Lincoln Town Car, in fact I owned several luxury cars prior to owning this car and I’ve owned several since including a Mercedes S-Class which I currently own. I’m not a terribly fussy car owner, I’ve been more then pleased with the majority of the 75ish cars I’ve owned in my life. However the Avalon was a disappointment, it’s a car that I’ve heard compared to BMW 7 series, Mercedes S-Class & other high ranking luxury cars, when I bought this car I had high expectations & I wanted to love it, but realistically it’s just not that good, I could list several cheaper sedans that offer superior driving characteristics.
BruceTheSillyGoose Just off the top of my head: Buick Century, Ford Taurus, Hyundai Sonata, Chrysler 300, Lincoln Town Car, Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis & also you could buy a lot of other used luxury cars cheaper, like an E350 Benz, Audi A4, BMW 3 series. I’m not saying any of the above would be better cars from a reliability stand point, but they are more comfortable & cheaper to buy, I’d consider any of them over another Avalon.
@@CarswithNash i drove a 2nd and third generation ["jelly bean" and stretched jelly bean body] taurus/sable- average quietness, superficially smooth ride over well-maintained urban streets, very firm otherwise but never harsh, handled well. i drove both the original generation [80-something up to '96] century- the first generation had the best ride over all, the 2nd generation swallowed bumps but acted like a boat, turn the steering wheel and eventually the tires might bite and you'd go in a desired direction but there were many times i'd go in the opposite direction [!]. 3rd generation century was worst of all worlds, both bumpy and boatlike. average quietness. seats less than comfy with no back support. never rode in a sonata but did drive a '00 santa fe which was based on a sonata, was very impressed with the level and smooth ride over all surfaces. cramped interior turned me off though. never could get past the brick-like style and the "sitting in a barrel" feel of the post-jellybean chrysler products, that was an immediate deal breaker. lincoln town car rode about like the continental i useta own, smooth isolated ride over average roads, got a bit lumpy/boaty on some rough stuff [broken segmented country/urban pavement]. much quieter than the continental [stretched out taurus], though, and solid body integrity over the bumps [unlike the continental which was a rattletrap]. the jellybean crown vic/G.M. were magic carpet ride over the highway, firm/borderline bumpy/harsh over the lumpy cratered stuff. i was most impressed with the utterly unflappable ride of an E300 MB diesel, the best ride of any car i've gotten to drive, hands down. it was truly like a rolling bank vault and the closest i've found to the magic carpet ideal. slow, though. an S-class rode no better if as well. for some reason MB tuned the diesel cars' suspension on the softer side compared to the gas models. my dad's 190D rode similarly.
BruceTheSillyGoose I had a ‘99 Taurus wagon for a few years, wasn’t a very good car but I found it pretty comfy & nice to drive. Yes Mercedes knows how to do luxury, I currently own an ‘89 300CE & a ‘91 420SEL, they are for sure two of the most comfy cars I’ve driven & yet they also handle well, my 300CE feels downright sporty at the same time as being super comfy, I love driving them.
Excellent vehicles, I own a 2006 Limited Avalon, it’s on my channel. My best time, stock, 0-60 is 4.8-4.9 seconds. Plan on modding it over time with a plethora of 2gr-fe engine upgrades, they are all interchangeable parts because many older Toyota vehicles use the 2gr-fe engine parts and upgrades, including the Lotus vehicle company too. Monkeywrenchracing.com is a great place to find those parts. If anyone plans on supercharging their Toyota 2gr-fe engine a great Supercharger for it would be the HKS Supercharger because it produces low boost of around 5.5-6 psi because the 2gr-fe engines are a high compression vehicle, you can lower the compression obviously, 10:8:1, but it’s gonna be rather expensive to bore the engine and machine the piston chambers and get a shorter stroke. The engines can handle about 12:8:1 or 13:1:1 compression as a daily driver. Wouldn’t take much to get it down into the low 3’s 0-60. I run 89-93 octane and it makes a significant difference of about 15-20 hp and torque.
