2005 Land Rover LR3 gets new Front Brakes And Rotors. This extremely well maintained Land Rover is in need of some brake attention. In this video I show you how I do a brake replacement, as well as some of the seemingly impossible obstacles that can pop up in the process. Hopefully this video is helpful to someone, (I know part 2 isn't...)
Anyone can do a pad slap, but it takes time to be thorough and make sure ever single part does it's job as intended. All it takes is one stuck part, to potentially start a chain reaction of wheel related failures. (burnt components and toasted wheel bearings...)
The chickens in the background got pretty noisy at times....

I do most, if not all repairs, with tools that I carry around in my overloaded 1997 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. I perform "On-Site" braking and suspension repairs, amongst other diagnostics and services. My tools consist mostly of Craftsman, a few Stanley, Snap-On, Husky, Pittsburgh, and S&K tools. Scan tools include hand held Actrons, DVOMs, and test lights. I also currently use a Zurich ZR Pro, for advanced and bidirectional diagnostics as well as a Snap-On Verus Pro, for more detailed diagnostics. I'm always expanding my collection, based on need and convenience.

Nice job, just the name Land rover you think $$$ but you again showed with some basic hand tools and can save some money. Well done. The barking dog was a bonus.

The type of vehicle doesn't matter as much as what is being done on it.... I'd REALLY like to see this channel grow to where I can support a video studio (aka garage), that way I can record things like the BMW starter I just replaced, or the 2017 Elantra I just replaced the timing set on....

That rotor retaining screw sure was a tight one. Usually the hand impact drivers are enough to break them loose. Great tip using to chisel to get it to move. I just put a pin coat of anti seize on them. No need for Loc Tite as the wheel will hold them in place and keep them from backing out.

With the screws that hold the rotor on.... when I use blue loctite, it is mostly to inhibit rust, as if I used anti-seize. You are correct, that there's no way it's coming out with the wheel on.

I certainly do love my Craftsman tools! Just wish they were "more convenient" like they used to be, and Harbor Freight has become....

Make sure the rotor is centered within the installed bracket. If not SHIM it correctly. (This one had factory shims) And I broke the breaker bar on this , on Sunday night replacing the wheel bearing.... Second lug nut off, and and the ice cold breaker bar snapped. Harbor Freight replaced it.
