This is a 2005 Toyota Corolla CE. I will be replacing the Wheel Cylinder and Drum&shoes on this vehicle. I will be using the Gearwrench Brake Resetting Gauge 3377. I also used the Matco Tools 23 Piece Brake Service Tool Set BTS23 and EWK 4 piece fluid line clamper brake hose pincher tool kit.

Thank you very much for this video. You make it look so easy . I normally have a problem with the high tension return springs. Great video. 👍🏻

The springs are no joke for me anymore. I'll do a live unedited drum brake video in the future.

You should use a shoe lace to pull a spring on your left hand and use your plier to guide it in with your right hand.

My 2005 Corolla has been making a low 'brrrrrr' or low soft grind 'brrr' sound from the rear when I brake. The front pads were changed recently and the rear pads a few years back. Someone told me the rear wheel cylinders are wearing out. Not sure if hearing this sound means I need new rear wheel cylinders.

When setting/removing springs I found using a hook tool robust enough to pull the spring if you have the hand strength.

Excellent video, but question? What happens if you accidentally hit the cylinder while it's pitched off and some brake fluid leaks out on both sides of the rear brakes? Are the cylinders now damaged? Also when this happened, the shoe's opened and I am not able to squeeze them together to close the cylinder. Should I bleed the line to alleviate the pressure in the line?

I just pitched my cylinder and it leaked a little bit. I thought nothing of it and once I hit that break. The thing leaked, and I lost all pressure in the breaks.

@@therambler0001 What did you end up doing? Replace the wheel cylinder? I’m in the same situation

You Mentioned to Bleed Rear Brake first on Far Right Side then Left then Right Front then Left. Which side of Car Front or Back looking to Start Right Side?

I have never had to take of the springs to do the cylinder, with a big screw driver you just pryopen one of the sides and you can remove and install new one like that

Don't use a cutter plier on springs and things you intend to reuse.
