I have a 2010 SE 2.5L with 386,000 miles! Changed the head gasket at 250,000 and now replacing cylinder ring. If you take car of it with basic maintenance it will take care of you. People still think it’s brand new today!
@@filipetavares3413 regularly drain and fill the transmission fluid 4 & 1/4 quarts motorcraft only and avoid hitting pot holes for the electric stearing….you will be good to go for a longtime!!!!
Holy crap that's a lot 😅 I have over 100,000 MILES I don't know if the top of my head exactly I have a 2010 Ford fusion set I'm due for a tune-up and need rear shocks other then IAM looking good everything else checks out going to go sometime this week I love my car I already fixed the transmission leak got new front struts new rotors all around fixed a caliper since I have the car 4 years already
I have 248,000 miles on my 2012 Fusion 4 cylinder and it runs great! I've replaced the shocks, control arms and tie rods and it drives like a new car. I wanted to get a newer hybrid Fusion for gas mileage but I just can't bring myself to sell it. I love it!
COMPLETELY AGREE 👍 👏...I HAVE A 2011 FUSION 2.5 WITH.....6 SPEED MANUAL...ITS A BEAUTIFUL RIDE..AND THE RADIO....WOW...CANT ASK FOR ANYTHING MORE..THANKS FORD FOR BUILDING SUCH A BEAUTY
Great video! I have one exactly like this one....and frankly, it's been the best car I've ever had. I take good care of it and it seems like it'll run forever. Well done.
Excellent video. I like the exterior styling of the older Fusions better than that of my catfish front ’14, but in turn I like the updated interiors the newer generation has. The older Fusion interior was still very basic like the ’02 Taurus I had. My ’14 with the 2.5 has 100K now, and short of a recall has never been in for anything outside of routine wear/maintenance items.
Just saw your video because I’m considering purchasing a 2007 Fusion. My sister-in-law worked for a bank and drove her Fusion all over Massachusetts. Thanks for the info and the Car Wizard concurs with your evaluation.
I bought my 2008 SEL 3.0L a couple years back. Still runs brand new with 96,000. Bought it with 77,000 miles on it. Hope it keeps running strong for many years to come. I can say I'm impressed with the Fusions.
My friend has one with over 200k I had do all the motor mounts recently. Im planning to re do the inside for her pretty soon. I love the way this car drives for it's age
Gave you a like and subscribe. Had oil come up in one of the ignition coils, so I'll be replacing everything. This video will definitely save a shade tree guy like me some time on my daughter's car. Thanks for the no BS video brother. I'll be looking forward to more. 👍
My 07 has 188k on it. Fusions are amazing! Just changed my valve cover gasket. Not to mention it sat for two years without moving fired right up! My wife has a 2017, it's a POS already
Best video ever man. Spoke to me reminded me of the good old days when they actually could make cars worked on these alot at the dealer when they were new. And that's also the reason why I have an 05 Mazda 6 sport 5-speed v6 in the driveway
I just bought a 2012 with 150k miles from a dealer who took in on trade. He was about to send to auction but I offered to buy on the spot. Needs bearings and also a Valve cover gasket. I hope it’s as good as the 2010 you’re working on in this video. Very informative!
I have a 2006 3.0 SEL and i love it. I live in Europe and they've never sold them out here, so it's a unique vehicle. Mine's got 160k miles, but runs like a champ! Yes it leaks some oil, so i need to change the valve gasket. I like the Gen 1 Fusion more than the gen 2
I 100% agree we’ve had 4 of these fusion fantastic until the eco boost. I had an ‘08 sel 4cyl slow but decent for 1st car, traded at 150k for ‘12 hybrid in ‘14 with 17k miles had it for 4 years totaled by a deer at 64k loved it and miss it to this day. My mom had a ‘11 sel v6 it ran good it also met its demise by a deer also, she got a ‘13 Lincoln MKZ 3.7 had it for 165k totaled by hail. All of them were great no issue but the 3.7’s pain of a waterpump, that was it on repairs for them. No longer a Ford person, as they don’t have car anymore.
I have the same 1.5 gen fusion. I have a 104k "Platinum" white 2010 2.5 Fusion with the 6 speed manual. I absolutely love my Fusion. I don't plan on selling it, that's probably why you don't see these cars for sale often.
I came to Texas from Europe in February of 2021. I've bought the Fusion, just like this one, with 174k miles. Now it's on 188k. The best car I ever had! Update, March of 2024. I still have it, now with 206k miles. Only 1 problem, gremlin with AC, fixed by adding a resistor
@@FordBossMe What other model Ford would you recommend? My 2012 Ford Fusion SE is getting older and I'm worried about the day it fails me. I have a 2012 Ford Focus as well, but it's a rust bucket and I only keep it as a second backup vehicle. I want to sell the Focus and get a newer vehicle. As a mechanic what do you recommend? Sucks Ford isn't selling many cars now...
Wow i always wondered about the Fudions cuz i did like the ealy taurus!! The Fusion body looked way better so its good to know that they are great reliable cars! Thx
They are wonderful vehicles I mean I can't even explain how reliable they are and they even had some of the four cylinders with stick shifts in them they were really Peppy
Just bought 2 weeks ago a 2006 with the 3.0 L V6, loving it so far. Great highway car, and I live 30 miles from MacDonald's and about 70 miles from Walmart, so... We are so lucky that Sovereign First Nations sell gas without the state of Minnesota tax, the tax on us evil, tool-using bipeds. You know what: sovereign First Nations had a lot of stuff right. Tough to do air travel from Ontonagon, MI, to Cahokia if you're carrying a silver nugget that will wind up in Mexico... but it was done.
I have a Ford Fusion 2011 SE and it is a super comfortable car, it is very spacious. It has 109k miles and I do all the maintenance that the car needs! I hope that the car reaches the 500k miles mark since I don't want to sell it.
I had a 2011 with 2.5L and powe steering stopped working at 252k so I sold it. Was gonna fix it but I wanted to upgrade to a bigger engine so I sold it and now I have a 2012 fusion with 3.0L and love it.
My dad has owned three of these cars. One with a 2.3 liter in 2007, 3.0 in a 2011, and a 2.5 liter in a 2014. The only reason why he got rid of them is because he got in an accident except for the 2014 which he still has. The 2.5 was so good that Ford continued them until 2020. Also the rear drive 3.5/3.7 engines are very reliable engines. While my dad owned a 3.0 in a 2011 Mercury Milan he never had any problems with oil leaks. 2.5 engines also came in Ford Escapes as well.
I got 2012 3.0v6 54000. Did the front struts and shocks. brakes rotors carbon fiber pads iridium Ngk plugs new rubber . Do 70 ish9(; every day in jacksonville FL.
Excellent vid. Regarding RTV required on the area where the cylinder head meets the front cover, common for other guys to just get lazy and rely on the gasket to seal it, but do that, and oil comes right on out. On Nissan QR25 2.5L 4cyl and VQ35DE 3.5L V6 motors, the geometry of the cylinder head around that same area has like a 90-degree drop, and in that corner, on both sides of the head, Nissan also calls for RTV, despite the gasket. Thanks!!
@@FordBossMe bro I got a question I just bought a 2010 2.5 and when I took the oil cap off I had blowby now I’m thinking my piston rings are bad it drives great gets up and goes no problem I checked the oil and it looks to be over filled you think that’s why ?
I love my 2011 Ford Fusion Sport. I have 299K miles on it and it is still running like a champ. I am definitely concerned about the water pump going out on it and dumping coolant into the oil pan. Sadly in order to change the pump you have to drop the whole powertrain and engine assembly.
Really have you had any issues along the way ?? Just got one with 150k and looked up the expectancy and it said 150k. Mine seems to warm up fairly fast.
For some reason Ford is reluctant to show the VVT solenoid seal or a number for it on the parts diagram for 2013 and later 2.5 Fusions. It is BR3Z-6C535-B or aftermarket B33509 from Mahle. The seal has to be changed from underneath the valve cover, so good idea to change it when doing the valve cover gaskets as it gets pretty stale. It makes a hell of an oily mess if it blows-don't ask how I know!
Nice vid, I agree, some guys make it too difficult and do weird things. It's all in the experience of the mechanic no? One thing I do like is when the video includes step by step instruction showing the actions necessary to do a good job with the little hints and tips along the way. Wish you had done that. Love my wife's fusion, leaking oil into the spark plug wells now BAD. SO, I get to do mechanic again...cheers!
Buddy I get what you're saying but you also have to understand I have my time as well some videos I can do that some videos I can't and you sometimes got to understand and appreciate you get what you get because you could get nothing at all and the rest of us do have lives and we're giving you a part of that through these videos so we appreciative because sometimes we don't have enough time for our own families and yet we're giving you time through the videos
I have plenty of videos on here doing valve cover gaskets on different cars that the directions apply even to this one do a little bit of research and you'll find them in library
My 98 escort was bulletproof I swear. Old lady T-boned it and totaled the car. I still drove it for two months with the passenger side stoved in and windows busted out lol good times
Changed coil on it and looks good running like a champ . 15 Fusion SE 108 K miles they say they can go for 300 K miles at least some Fusion owners have said this . And 2.5 L engine is the way to go hope this is true
My girlfriend has a 2008 2.3 and the interior looks nearly factory new finish. Engine and trans going strong. The car is just awesome mechanically. A little rust on the front of the hood so I tossed a low profile bug guard on it. Swapped out the horrible headlights that light barely shined through. Looks decent
i have a 2012 v6. man, that rh headlamp bulb is a total pita to change. i move the coolant bottle no problem, but all the abs makes it REAL hard, even with small hands. i know you're "supposed" to remove the front bumper cover, but that's an ever bigger pita, just to replace a bulb!
Got a 2.5 duratec in my Mazda 6 2012.... 6 speed manual.... great dad car little bit of a dog because of 3600lbs chassis but I love it. Tiny bit of a diesel sound on cold but perfect after warm the rest of the day.
Pretty decent cars actually. My biggest issue with them is having to lower the rear subframe for a shock replacement, in the rust belt it gets to the point where you just can't touch the subframe bolts without breaking them which can be a nightmare to fix on these cars. The good news is that the oem shocks always last between 100-150k miles so you'll likely only have to change them once throughout the life of the vehicle assuming you use oem parts
I don't do that I pull the bottom bolt out of the wishbone I drop it down over the top of the CV axle I pull the lower control arm down and I'm done in 45 minutes
I second on the dash pull as I do the passenger airbag recalls on these a lot. Super easy once you've done a few and can then zip right through it. Wish the Town Car dash was as easy as this one
Interesting quick question for you, so we first had our 2009 Ford fusion passenger side airbag replaced, of course because of the takata airbag that was in there, and soon after that we noticed a small crack at the bottom of our windshield, I went on the forums and apparently there were several owners that had small cracked windshields above the passenger dash after the airbag recall, I’m betting that it’s the Ford dealership and service department that caused this to happen and then it just spread😥 have you seen this happening I never even accused them of it but I’m pretty sure that’s what happened
@@nicholasbabeaux2052 no because on the '06 - '09 Fusions you only have to remove the airbag itself. Just 2 screws holds it in just above the glovebox and the airbag comes out. It's under the cut-out panel that's attached to the airbag. No dash pull needed. You only need to pull the dash on the '10 - '12 Fusions and MKZs
Only problem i had with mine was the left front axle seal kept leaking but i just followed the TSB they put out for it and it hasnt leaked again since. When they first came out when i was working at ford in 2010, our transmission guy was drowning in fusion and escape transmission rebuilds, but they recalled them and fixed the software i guess. Love my 2011 other than the fact that it's starting rust :(
Ughhhhh I totaled an 06…… didn’t come equipped with ABS. 56,000 miles paid 5,000 for it from a Ford dealer. I only made it to 76000miles. You are making me consider another one.
Bought car Monday and first time it let me down not starting was same day. Well found out it was totally loose positive cable on battery. Geez 🙄. Anyway still experiencing some starting problems. I think it’s the ignition switch lock cylinder. I get to start when I wiggle it around in the switch. I ordered parts the kit thru Ford dealer $85 guy gonna install it for $25. Hope it works that’s really the problem. 2015 Fusion SE 2.5 L.
@@FordBossMe even the 18-20 5.0’s with the oil consumption concerns and the baby diesel noise they make and the sleeveless cylinder walls? Have an 18 myself. Would appreciate to hear your opinion on the 3rd Gen 5.0’s. Thanks man
Hi and thankyou for all of your hard work/detail oriented videos. I wanted to know from your experience are 2015-16 Ford Fusions any good? If so which one would you recommend? I really like how they look and I want somethings bigger than my 07 Sentra that's going to last me a long time. Thanks
I have a 2012 sel fusion 2.5l with 88k miles love it except the front end is noisy. I cant tell if its cv joints or ball joints/lower control arm. had the steering rack replaced in 2016, but other than that, its been bulletproof...door handles both broke thats it.
Just picked up a very clean 07 3.0 SEL auto with 202 k mi. Got it cheap cause the PO's mechanic said it needed a new power drivers seat at $1200, rear brakes and it uses a quart per thousand miles. Fixed the seat with a $20 switch. Other than regular wear/service items the PO replaced the control arms, starter, coils, motor mounts, blower motor, AC condenser & front door locks. On its 3rd set of brakes. First timing chain at 190 k cost $2400. Gets about 24 mpg combined. But I get NO respect on the road - I think I will rebadge it as a BMW.
Would be awesome to do a fix on the rocker panels on these 2010-2012 Ford Fusions. It rusts out and mine are still in good shape but I really want to prevent it before it gets there. I've seen many have this problem.
Makes me appreciate my 2012 more lol, I always hated the fusions made after 2013 because of how small and shitty the interior was not to mention how impossible ford makes it to do simple maintenance or repairs on the car. My biggest problem with the older one is the headlights you probably can’t even tell the difference between off and on😭😭😭I can barely ever see shit at night, the foglights are amazing, until they stop working… but the new ones have pretty decent headlights but no foglights-that’s gotta be the only thing I like on the new ones.
I just bought a 2012 in mint cond, just rolled over 74,000 , I have the carfax, one owner , kept up on all services it looks like , The manual say tranny fluid change at 150,000 which seems like a long time, but should I do it now? Fluid is a little dirty , not to bad , any thoughts???
The best ones are the 2006-2009 V6 models with the Aisin TF81SC transmission. The absolute best ones are the 2007-2009 AWD models. The 2010-2012s 3.0L cars changed to the horrendous 6F35 transmission. The 3.5L sport models still utilized the Aisin, but that engine requires far more maintenance to prevent catastrophic failure.
Does anyone know if that crank case tube on the valve cover is an open straight nozzle or if it’s pressure controlled on the back driver side because if it isn’t pressure controlled mine must be blocked up somehow because I tried sucking through the hose and im getting nothing at that back crank hose nipple? Anyone knows would be great or I have to tear the valve cover off to find out because I can’t see the bottom side of the cover in this video.
Hey Boss, bought my son a 2012 Fusion SE. Great car so far. Only issue is (and it's minor) the Bluetooth doesn't automatically stay connected to his phone. It's the Sync 1 I believe. Everytime he starts the car he has to push the phone button and say "connect Bluetooth". Sometimes he has to do it it a few times. Reading forums, I've read that the software needs to be updated. Called the dealership and they want like $175 to do an update. Do you have any thoughts or suggestions ?
Looking at a ‘17 & ‘18 fusion 2.5l, used car market’s crazy.. ‘17 S model w/ 55k miles asking $16k, ‘18 SE loaded w/ 33k miles asking $16.9k (also says price is firm..). Think I can get the ‘17 model down to $14k & maybe the ‘18 model to $16k. Thoughts? Wife’s ‘15 Fusion w/ the ecoboost got totaled & we got $13.5k to play w/ from insurance company. Metro Detroit, so prices are elevated here.
I just replaced mine...worst design ever...that bolt by the upper control arm...theres no reason they couldnt have made that one easier to get at...just needed to move it like a 1/2 inch.
I have a 2012 fusion sport 121k miles. It’s been a reliable car as ive been on many road trips. Started throwing a lean code. Replaced fuel injectors. Next was a misfire on cylinder 5. Replaced the coil pack. Still through a code. Switch cylinder 5 with cylinder 2 and the code followed. Replaced ALL coil packs and misfire on cylinder 2 still pops up. Replaced cam shaft sensors. No improvement. Any idea what to look at next to resolve this issue? Runs fine while driving, over 1k rpm. It starts hard, and has a rough idle, and acts likes its going to die (but never has) when coming to a stop. Had a compression test done..has gas, spark, & pressure. 🤷🏻♀️ I’m stumped as well as the ford dealership.
Great video. Im looking at a 2016 fusion with the 2.5, this is the closest video I've been able to find that speaks to the reliability of the 2.5. Would you say the 2.5 in a 2016 fusion is similar?
Hello. Nice video. I have a 2012 fusion sport V6 3.5. It is running great but I'm worried with it's internal waterpump issue and it might affect the engine. As a prevention, may I know the signs of a broken internal waterpump for someone who doesn't know a lot about car
So if I want a good fusion , you’re saying it’s the 2010 fusion ! I have now a 2016 and they told me today I have a seeping timing cover leak. How expensive would that be to do ? Thank you
I just bought a 2012 Ford Fusion SEL V6 with 172k miles, but it’s in great condition inside and out. The only thing I’ve found wrong with it is a weird rumbling noise when I’m accelerating on take off, then it will go away after I get going. Is this something I should be worried about?
mine is falling apart all rusty 2.5 2010 think I need new brakes and somewthing wrong with teh steering and when I try to go on the highway to accelerate to 65 I cant get much above 50 . it bucks like a animal
Did you ever get one? I am in the hybrid market right now and found 1 fusion hybrid with 150k miles for $4.5k with 1 issue: overheating after 30-40min of driving (as long as its not head gasket, I think I can manage it)
These model Fusions tend to rust at the rear rocker just forward of the rear wheels. Is there any way to prevent this? Where is the moisture coming in from?
@@tatan6473 I dunno wym bro. Use wax or rustoleum? Like use wax to seal the doors better? My rust is at the bottom middle panel right before rear wheel well. Don't think it's a door seal, think water is getting collected inside the panel from under car and has no way to drain.
@@myPOmadAF also you should check your fender sometimes the clips holding them break off and then you leave a small hole where water can get into easily
Hello I bought a 2010 fusion with the 2.5L 198k miles about to months ago the car is super clean inside and out ...the car had a check engine light on for missfire and the car shook like crazy so I put new spark plugs new coil packs new oil change and new air filter new tires with alignment...no more codes but motor keep shaking only thing I can think of is to change the pcv valve but I can't find were is located...help please thank you 😊
Look in my library on your Ford Fusion and you'll see one where I actually had to change the PCM powertrain control module please check the library and message me on that so I know that you found it
@@noecardenas422 i second his suggestion. Its a design flaw of old pcm firmware once ignition coil goes bad, itll fry the pcm. I took mine off the firewall, opened it up. Fried. I sent mine on ebay to get it fixed. Never had a problem since(after replacing ignition coils. I recommend motorcraft or denso if youre on a budget)
