I do most, if not all repairs, with tools that I carry around in my overloaded 1997 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. I perform "On-Site" braking and suspension repairs, amongst other diagnostics and services. My tools consist mostly of Craftsman, a few Stanley, Snap-On, Husky, Pittsburgh, and S&K tools. Scan tools include hand held Actrons, DVOMs, and test lights. I also currently use a Zurich ZR Pro, for advanced and bidirectional diagnostics as well as a Snap-On Verus Pro, for more detailed diagnostics. I'm always expanding my collection, based on need and convenience.

When all those bolts broke loose with ease, you just had to know something would go wrong, as in having to shorten the mounting bolts. That was a great idea placing nuts behind the bolt heads and turning the bolts to force out the hub! I always learn a new trick watching your videos Charlie!

You’re older than me and I can see that you can stand to be on the ground doing that type of work. I can’t survive down there for more than 10 minutes. it just shows how screwed up my body really is. Good video brother.

A few years ago I started a new rule: "If the temperature is lower than my age...It ain't happening!" But when needed I use blankets, moving pads, cardboard, rubber mats, etc. One hour of laying on the bare ground equals three days of Ibuprofen.

I'm 54 and the constant up and down is getting to me. I call it "the calisthenics". I sit on a milk crate as I can't stay in a constant bending position for long periods. The knees don't like it. It never fails that I need another tool and have to get up and return to the tool box. I'm going to build a tool caddy of some kind that rolls and I can hang wrenches and sockets along with pliers and screwdrivers. That way everything is within reach.

I tried to do front brakes and I have 30 years experience and it took me all day long to get it done trying to get up and down! Need a new body lol

I had the same result doing rear brakes, calipers and rotors on a Mazda 6. I started the job at 9 AM. It was up, down, back and forth trying to get the brakes bled. It was near dark when I returned from the test drive to the store to get two 24oz. PBRs. The girl was waiting in the driveway when I returned. After I got paid and she left, those PBRs "evaporated" while I cleaned and put away the tools. Then I went inside, sat down in my recliner, and "died" like the Law and Order guy who is doing the TV commercials for Tommy Copper. 🤣🤣

So what do you do about the bolts being way too long if the customer got their own parts? Does the customer pay for the extra labor? If you got the parts, then I guess you would pay for the extra labor correct?

For a variety of reasons, including parts warranty, I leave purchasing the parts up to the owner. In the event they get a part I cannot work with, they have to try again, and I will have to schedule a return trip. I charge only a flat rate for these simpler jobs.

It really was though. I'm used to struggling with that initial force, on every fastener... "Will it break, or break loose?" (or occasionally seize half way off)
