Cats walked into this game thinking they had already won it. They were the best team that year by a mile, i believe they went 21-1 during the h&a season. Goes to show, your h&a record means nothing if you're not ready on game day
It is called a tactic that in 2008 was allowed. It meant that you gave away a point to relieve the defense from the pressure, instead of possibly giving away a goal.
You know what would have counteracted the rushed behinds.... Geelong playing better. They were outplayed, but more than that, outcoached on the day. Hawthorn were composed, rushing behinds if there was no kick down the ground. Two of the 3rd quarter highlights show Geelong panicking at half back and giving up goals. Perhaps if Geelong had thought a little more, they would have rushed some behinds too.
MrRealityCheck88, Who won the 2013 Grand Final and did they use rushed behinds to win it? We were the better team that day, the rushed behinds give Geelong score for nothing... That is far from cheating the win. UP THE HAWKERS
I agree. I couldn't believe the audacity of the Hawks tactics that day. I honestly believe they didn't think they could match it with Geelong (maybe they could, we will never know) but it was a dirty tactic and a complete insult to the opposition. It could have been a great fast paced GF with plenty of goals however this GF will be remembered because of these low tactics that the AFL recognised as a major problem and had to change the rules.
GO THE HAWKERS CATS WE HATE YOU YOU THINK YOU WON THE GAME BUT WHEN YOU HEARD OUR SONG YOU FELT LIKE CRAP WE WERE THE BETTER TEAM THAT DAY WE THE MIGHTY FIGHTING HAWKS
You can’t stop something that’s meant to be, cats had it all over the hawks in all the lesser games leading up to the grand final but on the day that mattered the hawks were unstoppable it was always going to be their day sorry cats ..bunch of handbagers.
fuck this is hard for me to watch, well done to the better side on the day.i'm a mad geelong supporter, born and bred, but i like hawthorn aswell, very professional and well drilled side
Geelong didn't play with enough arrogance or put up enough fight.Thompson should've told them this GF is going to be tough & tight unlike the year before.
Hawks ruined what could have been a great GF like 1989, it was primed to be another classic what a shame the day was tainted and the AFL had to step in. I agree with boogiefever, the underarm delivery in cricket was 'within the rules' however it was bad sportsman like and that rule was changed too.
Oh. Yes we do and especially when we play Geelong as the umpires invariably give them an enormous amount of frees and many of them in front of gaol. It's like we have to beat a team with four extra players 😡
Nope, a combination of Geelong not being hungry enough and Clarkson's genius strategy to counter their gameplan more than sealed the deal for Hawthorn. From a Geelong supporter
@@Magpie_Mark92 They were well within their rights to do it at the time. Dog act sure, but it still wasn't a rule breaking act. Maybe things could've gone differently if Ottens passed it to Lonergan instead of taking that shot and Mooney didn't miss at half time.
2012 no rushed behind rule unless deemed under pressure. Did the Hawks win the 2012 GF? No. When tested team vs team they failed. Cheating to win flags is over boys.
Just like they won when Trevor Chappell bowled underarm. He got away with it, but it was still a dog act. BAD SPORTSMANSHIP. So the Hawks follow the rules, but are shit sportsmen. Can we agree on that?
