I remember this. Hawthorn came up with a tactic so effective and against the spirit of the game that the AFL had to change the rules the very next year.
@@lunatix6470 Deliberate rush behinds. Walk it over the line, run it over the line, handpass it over and I think I even remember a kick behind. They did this anytime they were under pressure in the defensive 50 so they could have uncontested possession from the kick in. The rule was changed round 1 next year.

@@jj45455 very bad sportsmanship. The worst in the AFL. Though they have improved a lot in the last 5 years and stopped doing things like pinching behind play, and rushing behinds. Dodgy stuff like that. Whatever it takes to win even if unethical. They seem to have stopped all that disgusting crap recently which is good to see. Clarkson was probably a big part of their bad behaviour. He king hit a player on the field when he played, for example.
