You can buy seat lowering brackets which are a great addition! I’m 6ft 2 and they are essential for me . Cheers Simon

I could but I don't drive it that often my wife does. Its her car and if she sat any lower then she'd look like a mole peeping out a mole hill and wouldn't be able to see over the steering wheel. So for now the best fix I've come up with is never to get in it again. :-D

The Mazda literature stuff was probably an example of "Engrish". When I was teaching English in Japan and Korea, I came across some genuinely hilarious examples. At the swimming pool; "Please fall carefully into the water". At a monastery next to a ceremonial bell; "For ringing of the bell. NO".

Is the roof really just plastic? I guess thats not much of a help in a accident then?

Plastic skin, metal mechanism. Whether its safer in an accdient depends on the accident both this and the soft top have roll over protection with roll bars, strong windscreen pillars. It is arguably more secure, has better weather proofing and is more durable and lower maintenance than the fabric soft-top roof. There is possibly a minor impact to handling given the additional weight. If safety is a major concern its likely any convertible/cabriolet would not be suitable though.

I'm really not sure why you say you feel perched up on the seat in a MX-5 mk3, it is the opposite in reality. There's really no need to be any lower seating-wise, but the suspension can do with a lower stance. I am a NC owner, 2010 Sport Tech model, it is just great. Had a Honda S2000 before the MX-5 and I definitely prefer the Mazda, it's just a better all-round car.
