@@leepatrick9432 Oh. It means that she ran with the correct balance of aggression and tactics. She ran in accordance with her visualization of winning. She ran without doubt in her ability nor the outcome.
@@motionsickness9610 With such a dumb comment as that, you're no one to be talking about who's smarter. Sanya Richards didn't even run in the Worlds in 2013. So all the times Sanya kicked Ohourugu's ass, who was the smarter one?
I miss Christine. What an exciting athlete to watch. Her style of running meant there was always something exciting happening on the home straight. What a legend
@@ohhiitsjustme3445 It’s true. Sanya has talked about it numerous times. It’s actually amazing that she was even able to make it to the final while recovering
@@mlol6000 no he's right she's a Christian. She talks about how hard this decision was for her in her book. She struggled a lot with it even after the Olympics.
Lol! How is it an upset if the world champion won? Anyway, kudos to Christine. Gotta love her technique. Let everyone wear themselves out, then comes from behind to edge them out.
Because especially around this time, Sanya was basically undefeated in all of the 400m races she ran throughout the season. She was consistently under 50 seconds , and I’m pretty sure she still has the records for most sub 50 times. She ran the 48.70 American record around this time too. There were several races where she beat these same women by meters. So she really was the favorite going into the race. But Christine was always a beast !
@@jaredmatthews8585 I know. And I hear you. But if you have the commonwealth and world champion facing off with an under 50 seconds favourite, you don’t call it an upset. Sub 50 or 49 doesn’t matter unless it’s executed on the D-day when it actually matters. I love SRR too, but the outcome was predictable. Either Christine or Sanya could have won, and it wouldn’t have been an upset either way.
@@seunwrites279 Idk why you are making this so difficult…what do you mean it doesn’t matter? If someone is running fast times leading up to a major event then they will be the favorite…just like shelly ann is the favorite right now despite elaine having the fastest time of anyone alive.
@@ajollypanda4175 I would agree except, it’s not an upset. An upset would be if anyone else except Christine or SRR had won. Running the best times in the world doesn’t guarantee a win. An actual win at a deciding event does. Case in point, Sha’Carri.
@@jaredmatthews8585 Sanya later revealed that she had an abortion two weeks before the 2008 Beijing Games so that explains her dominance earlier in the season then to soft choke at the big stage.
I still cannot get over this upset....tactically, Sanya did everything wrong !! WHY ?? Such a huge mistake to start as she did...worst was between 150 and 300 , way too fast...
This race was an exact replica of the 2005 world championship final in Helsinki Sanya Richards-Ross didn't learn the lessons from that race, she went out far too quickly, ran out of gas in the last 50m and got overhauled by Tonique Williams-Darling who completed the Olympic/World title double. Here she did the same tactics went out too quickly over the first 300m she blasted past and paid for it in the home straight. Ohorougu was more evenly paced in comparison she entered the home straight in around about 4th behind Richards-Ross and 2 of the 3 Russians in this race Gashina and Ferova but due to running an even paced race she had more gas in the tank in the last 100m and overhauled the lot to replicate Williams-Darling's Olympic/World title double. To make things worse for Richards-Ross she didn't get the silver due to Shericka Williams who also ran an evenly paced race albeit she was further behind going into the home straight she was about 6th behind all 3 Russians blitzed the last 100m and took the silver.
Her style of running was to close in the the final 150m. This meant that unless someone was leading her the pace of the lead tended to dictate the times that Christine would clock. It was only against the best that she would run sub 50's.
@@MB-nh9bx Yes they do - I'm British and I know exactly what you mean because the BBC always feature the british runner ending up in 7th place, but not exclusively and not at the exclusion of the winner, who will get the primary focus at the end of the race. The US coverage is way too insular.
Just 3 missed tests thats all. It was well documented. She was 100% a clean athlete. The whereabouts testing system was in its infancy in 2005 so it was extremely flawed. Thankfully they've made alot of updates to the system so athletes can communicate easier with the testers.
@@phoenixforce6595 lol lots of excuses here. "in its infancy" please she didn't miss her drug tests by accident. Everyone knows she was juiced to the gills and ducking the tests on purpose.
So the world champion won the race and a 2 time silver medalist came second.. why is only Ross getting the coverage? This reminds me of the time bolt lost to Gatlin they only doing coverage on bolt..
She had the fastest time going into the meet so she was considered the favorite to win. In track and field, they tend to hype up the favorites. But as you saw here, anything can happen ❤️
@@mongoslade277she didnt have cramps she ran out too fast and couldn't maintain her form u can see her shoulders swinging hands she is obviously tired.. cramps is not it
Nickie u no a so u eva a run eno fr me ago all age champs till now lol ..sherika williams name nickie .same so she run fr we a run til now al wen we go champs an she a run against annesiha maclockin fr homlwood same way she run by the way a steths we go
She just went off way too fast, nerves caused her to blow it not cramp. Her excuse was a rather sad attempt to rationalize her loss. Christine was always a very strong and smart athelete.
They keep repeating that she has been world number 1 for three years, but doesn't have a global title to her name. WTF? 2006 was no global final, 2007 was the only time she didn't win prior to this race. So it's not like she had three chances and blew them all. At least not at the time of preparing for this race!
The Brit was given a big time gift..We all know Ross went out too fast and everyone else closed in on her at the end..But that’s the way it goes and as crazy as it sounds the Brit actually won. Sometimes even average runners are blessed with the gold when others make mistakes
на Олимпийских Играх в Афинах 2004 года, было тоже самое, не одного представителя из сборной USA не оказалось на пьедестале почёта после завершения забега на дистанции 400 метров у Женщин.
She wasn't hiding from them, she was simply late getting there... But whatever, she wasn't the "unknown" entity the commentary seems to suggest This is classic Christine... She was the WORLD CHAMPION at the time, beating Richard's in exactly the same way,... Upset of the game's! Really??? Let that be a lesson to every commentator, NEVER get so carried away with the sound of your own voice, or you'll have to back track when you're WRONG... This race WAS about Christine Ohurugu's BRILLIANCE, not Richardson's failure 🇬🇧🥇👍
\@@archiesmum8601 "she was simply late" lol oh was she stuck in traffic? please everyone knows she was juiced i mean just look at the body it's more obvious on her than the East Germans
