2010 - 2015 Toyota Prius - How to Fix Touch Tracer TRIP, DISP, & TEMP Buttons w/ Aftermarket Stereo 

READ ME FIRST!!! I’m extending nothing but gratitude to the video creator. If all you’re doing is replacing your steering buttons because the graphics or buttons are worn out . Dont do any of this.. Don’t disassemble your steering wheel or spend $50 or more. Just pry the rubber buttons out. With anything …preferably a p plastic tool but frankly, you can pull them out with your fingers start from the right and on the left are two thin rubber locking tabs with perforations. If your gentle enough you can remove them without tearing the tabs but it’s not important you’re gonna throw them out anyway.. Simply re-insert the new tabs with your fingertips. It’s so easy. You don’t have to take anything apart. You don’t have to disconnect your battery. You don’t have to worry about your airbags exploding. You don’t even have to remove the silver brackets. Easiest job in the world. You can purchase a pair of new touch pads for only $10 even on Alibaba. But you may be able to find them on eBay or something decent from a junkyard. . From a junkyard just pulled them out being careful not to rip those tabs since you’re going to keep those. But you’ll be happiest if you buy the new ones for 10 bucks.

Another option is to disassemble the OEM radio so all you have is the control panel and the back ports. There are small Philips head screws on the OEM radio that you can loosen and you can remove the front plastic plate, the CD player, and the outer metal case. All your left with is the circuit board and the back ports which is must less bulky than the full radio and it fits in behind the new radio. Plug the two free plugs that he shows in the video into the control panel ports. Then zip tie the panel in the cavity behind the new radio. I did this on a 2012 Prius v and the trip and display buttons on the steering wheel work.

What if I don’t have the JBL radio or attachments. Do I still ground the pink wire and get my tracer back? Cuz I did have the tracer buttons working when I bought it from my friend. But now they don’t track my fingers. Nor do the trip and display buttons work properly. Would this solution still help me?
