Today I had my neighbor ask me to look at his 2010 Ford F250 6.4l Diesel 4x4. He said the 4x4 randomly does not work. Let's see if we can find the issue.

Skills man! Love it. You essentially verified the signal for engage and disengage were reaching the component (which had the relay built in I am thinking) and the component was only operating on the engage portion of the signal. I’m watching and actually trying to think through your process as you narrow down the issues. And I’ve done the same thing on my test light (had lead on wrong end pos or neg etc.) so that made me chuckle. ALSO YOU MADE IT TO 1.5K SUBS MAN! Awesome job bro. You’re gonna blow up in 2020 if you keep up the good work.

Solenoids are a very similar design to relays. Only difference is one closes a contact and the other moves a valve. Sometimes test lights do not work on these circuits because they have very low resistance and are essentially a dead short until they warm up.

What scan tool program are you using? i really like how you can turn things on and off and seems like you have more options

I have an 08. I bought it with the vacuum disabled and unplugged, has manual locking hubs. But my switch inside the cab seems to not engage the transfer case. At first the little switch didn't light up when I turned the lights on n all, reverse alarm switch is also inoperable.... helpppp?

You are going to have to hook the lines back up and check to see if it works. You will also have to scan the vehicle for codes. If it detects a problem it may not ever turn the circuit back on until the problem is corrected or the codes are cleared.

What scanner would be able to read codes? And I've seen multiple trucks (on here or in the forums) that didn't have any of it attached or hooked up (vacuum lines n pump).. I guess I just need steps on how to diagnose what's wrong with either: switch in cab, the tcase shift motor or fuses?🤔🥴 all I need n want is for the tcase to engage
