Wow , this brings back a lot of memories ! I worked in an automotive upholstery shop for 20 years and It's alot easier if you remove the seat first and put it on a work bench . Make sure you disconnect the battery if it's a foreign car or you will have an airbag light stuck on your dash .
I've done it on the bench and I don't agree, for me personally it's better to just do it in the car because now you have the weight of the vehicle holding the seat for you still pulling the seat out is not necessary in this situation it just is a case-by-case basis it doesn't be considered set in stone that it's better on the bench
Great video! Going to try to tackle this soon. We have a 17 and was having a hell of a time trying to find the module. Everyone kept telling me under the seats. Only thing is that ours is heated seats only no cooling. So from what I've read only the seats with cooling also will have the modules under seat. Now I know where to find mine it thanks to you! My questions is does the module control both seats? If so is it posisble for only half of it to work properly? Passenger seat works and driver side does not. I haven't attmepted to ohm out the pads yet but will before I think about changing module. All your input is greatly appreciated. Thank you! I also found they sell the cushion with heater already on it.
Great video! I am having issues with my wife's 2017 Explorer XLT. Neither seat heater works. I ohmed out the ass pads, which were super high, got those swapped out. The backs were good at 2.4 ohms rach. I swapped out the Climate control module as well. When I jump over the module from the input to the output, both seats heat well, just not when it goes through the module. Any suggestions? Does the new module need to be programed to the car? I have tried to find the wiring diagrams you were using, with no luck. Is the a way to get those? Thanks
No normally I have it in the video when people just miss it because it's like a 15 to 20 second nd segment and they just miss it in the video I don't have the part number on me if it's not in the video and you watch it all the way through very carefully then you're going to have to look it up on Google
Rich, I don’t know if you still check these old threads ? My question is after the heating elements in the seat are replaced does the computer need to be reset
I worked in an automotive upholstery shop for 20 years . If its not torn or worn out , we would take a steamer to the foam which actually expands the foam back to it's original shape . Otherwise if you need new foam , the internet is you're friend .
Does this job have both the heated and cooled seat? Am trying to determine if my 2017 F250 Super Duty with heated AND cooled seats has the same heat strips in the seat and back pad or if the two TED fan units provide air flow heat and NOT use the heat strips that are glued to the seat pads as seen in this video. Great job on the video.
