guy had the exact same one from this video outside my dorm room 6-7 years ago... loved seeing it every day. Got myself an 07 now and I couldnt be happier. The 09-12 models are impossible to find. edit: found a 2011 and sold my 07 love RLs 🙏
I like this guy reviews , But he spends most of the video in every video just how to use the gps systems .. like if its not a good one the car could´nt do anything else.
I've always liked the RL. The interior is so plush. I love Honda but I think it looked better before the style refresh, does kind of look like an Accord. Also, the SatNav graphics are dated in both Honda and Acura cars and seriously need to be upgraded. Other than that, a solid,well-built, and underrated car.
I just recently bought a 2009 Acura RL it only had 75,000 miles on it which I think that is great for 2009. It is in great condition both inside and out. I love it. It has a lot more features than I expected which I think it's great. I bought it from a very small operated dealer. He kept the vehicles he was selling in a medium size garage. I originally went there to look at a different vehicle a SUV, but after seeing the Acura RL and the great condition it was in and low mileage. My husband and I test drove it and I knew I found my car. The best part was the selling price I knew I was going to buy this car. Like I mentioned earlier I love it!!! 😊.
I have this exact car, same color and Advance package. It’s a great car in all regards, but the transmission is absolutely horrendous. Rough shifting and jerking/bucking abound in this car. Beware, anyone looking for a bargain.
@PhreshNBeat I'm aware of that, I meant in the US. The name Acura exists only in the US as well. RL sales in the US are so tiny, the car is nearly irrelevant. The only upside I can see in buying this car is that you're unlikely to see anyone else owning this car in your neighborhood.
I'll stick with my 05RL with 19" legacy liquid granite wheels. I 😍 my baby. 2017 and she only has 79k. how many can say that? not one single issue, regardless of the recall. I did have to install my own Bluetooth module for music.. removal of trunk liner -left side... either case, as I said, super happy! D3 baby!
Don't think; do it! you won't regret it... gas mileage? don't know, don't care... 50 to fill up using premium plus, 93 octane... backseat leg room... well, for those who like to complain, they can walk or take the bus... Like anything, you have to examine in person... pics and videos won't satisfy your need to know... Good luck with your decision and I hope you get one...
They r really dropping the techno ball. My 7 yr old Prius has a much better interface. and my brother just got a 2010 Madza 3 and it syncks up his iphone w no cables or button pushed, and its all Bose. What the hell is Acura up to w their antique tech systems (the SUV Acura is just as laughable).
Honda needs to realize it cannot compete in this class without a proper RWD V8 car. Sorry folks but that is the price of entry. I'm sure the RL is a fine car but against an E-Class? 5-series? Genesis? Infiniti M? Lexus G? Yea thanks but no thanks.
@itsmegp46 its not designed to have lots and lots of power. its designed to be luxurious and reliable. if it had 333 hp it would be much less reliable. and trust me, honda can make it have that much power. but it would be smart because honda is known to be reliable, not to be a muscle car.
Silvi Boy V8 isn't necessary. It will cause it tho be more expensive & costly to maintain or repair. Honda/Acura doosn't make V8 engines& the whole industry has shifted to smaller displacement engines for fuel efficiency as well
I have respect for the RL but I don't blame people for not buying it. It has an aging platform, aging tech and electronics. What it DOES have going for it is its amazing powertrain and SHAWD. Let's see what the 2014 RLX has in store.
I'm a fan of Acura. I've bought two but until they get serious about making an upscale car I wont be buying another one. The design on the new RL is too benign. They need to sex it up quite a bit. I say bring back the Legend. Look at the 2nd generation Legend's. They stood out from regular Honda's. These RL's dont. A flagship car shouldnt look like a glorified Accord. This is a nice mom car but most men would never drive this.
2011 RL for $48,000, forget that, it's not worth it. Dislike the exterior design, the 2005-2008 RL looks better in my opinion, after that it became fugly, like it was trying to hard to look rich and cool, the 2009-2011 RL looks ridiculous, they all look like the TL and TSX for that year too, which is boring to look at. I would still buy an RL but it has be be between 2005-2008. Acura failed.
Here's my complaint. This car doesn't look any better than a Hyundai Equus and why do they still use a wheel to access the nav screen? There is a vast improvement in touch screen technology, yet they still use a knob to adjust things on the screen. We are not in the 70's or 80's. He also complains about glare on the screen, yet there are anti-glare screen protectors that can be used to prevent this. I would not waste my money on this car.
I don't understand Honda/Acura way of thinking. They had the name Legend, a great car with great brand recognition. They discontinue Legend, then lay a turd called RL. Now the car languishes in a showroom traffic dungeon for some 16-17 years now. The new RL promises to be another ho-hum car. Why do they even bother, and at BMW 5 series prices?!?
@starladear002 trust me with the things hondas made in the past, it could make a much much more powerful car. but the reason honda stops making all of these fast cars it makes, is becasue it doesnt make them much money.
Rebadging is seriously hurting Acura, even Lexus has a separate platform for some of their models. Acura seriously needs to refine that interior, find a new and better design language, bloat the shit out of it to make it LS and S-Class competitive, and give it a v8.
As an owner of an aging 2007 Acura RL and a 2005 TL. i have a great solution to make the next generation Acura RL the big talk. first and foremost they need a V8 i'm thinking about around 330-380hp, a V6 for those to are loyal to Acura's ULEV standars. and a big boy type S model with like 460hp. another thing they should do is have the RL compete with the Lexus LS, and Mercedes S class rather than a Buick Lacrosse, and Lexus ES.
@PhreshNBeat All you have to do is go to the dollar store and buy some micro fiber towels. Finger prints come off easily. No excuses. Touch screens are still the best way to operate all the features of the car. I will not buy a car if it doesn't have a touch screen.
The RL has a 3.7 liter engine making 300 horsepower using premium fuel. The Hyundai Genesis has a 3.8 liter engine making 333 horsepower using regular. Shame on you Acura.
@itsmegp46 nah dude go check out the new york autoshow in April of this year, which will debut the all new RL. And it will be out in end of 2012. Already i'm feeling Acura good presence with the all new NSX, RDX and ILX the styling might be pick off of them and onto the RL which might be good :)
But what i dont understand about Acura why would they crown the RL as their flagship when it has almost everything that the other models have, mainly the TL. the flagship model is supposed to stand out, set it self apart and differentiate from the other models not blend in so much to the fact buyers forget that it exists and opt for the TL which most people do, that why i upgraded to the E class Mercedes
@PhreshNBeat That's another thing. I just had my own TL serviced last week. I asked about the new RL. The service rep doesn't think a new RL will be out for another 2 ro 3 years. Go figure.
@PhreshNBeat I live too far from NYC now to make that trip. Can you make a vid or takes some pics for me? I could give you my private email if thats cool.
i agree i said this to my cuz about an hour ago.. the rl cannot come out almost the same specs as the tl/accord then why even buy one.. the rl should be pushing near 400hp.. hyundai genesis is up there why not acura.. drop a v8 in that and call it a day!!! i just watched the mercedes s video and all i could think of was the rlx, and why acura is not trying to compete in power!
Yeah, its a major improvement but its still not up in the "flagship" category technically compared to Lexus's LS or Mercedes's S class.its more in line with the new Lexus GS and BMW 6 series sedan when it come out or even the Jaguar XF
No. The Acura Legend, although it "looks" like an Accord, is related to the Honda Legend. The Honda Legend is also the base for the succeeding Acura RL and RLX Sport Hybrid (the front-wheel drive model is unique to the Acura brand) While it sells well overseas as the Honda Legend, the United States has a more fierce competition in the luxury market. The Legend was a great car for its time as there was very little competition (Acura came before Lexus and Infiniti), but the Acura RL does not stand out in a crowd anymore as most flagship sedans are very nice and, as Brian Cooley would say, shout "I make more money than you." The new RLX is certainly an improvement. If they kept the "Legend" name, there certainly would be no difference in sales.
speedtime with most people who were definite fans of the Legend name plate myself being one they did lose a lot of loyal fans when they discontinued the Legend name. However Honda's real down fall was allowing the TL and Honda accords to surpass the flagship RL with attention from the company in the way of technology and continually updating the styling of those two, while the RL was definitely attention starved. Why would any car manufacturer do what Honda continued to do to the RL? They should have from the start updated the RL with technology and up the power to at least 325hp 290ft lbs and a 6-7 speed tranny all this to offset the sh-awd(which makes this a heavy auto) and the marginal fuel rating. I loved my pearl white 1990 Acura Legend coupe! no other car came close.... It lasted beautifully for 215,000 miles. For all those who have driven and owned the acura legend you just simply understand what I am not able to fully convey with words. From the moment each and every time you sat in the driver's seat and started the car how it felt, how it drove... Come on Honda get your act together! while your cars are good they are not soul stirring when you see them let alone when you drive them not like when they were Legends.
I'd rather buy a 2002-2006 Infiniti Q45 over this acura anyday. The Q45 looks much better, is larger, has a smoother ride, more luxury features and has a very powerful Nissan 4.5L V8 that get better gas mileage than this Honda 3.7 V6.
Hey there's an expensive Acura TL with a 9-Speed quick shift transmission, which cost over $230,000. It also has protective materials, which prevent the car from being broken into.
