Great Video, I am currently looking at 2010 Acura TL Sedan 4D at 142k miles. The car had one owner asking price is $8,999.00. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.
I have a 2011 and had have lots of Acura's and a few Honda's and i love this thing! its so refined and Acura at its peak! with becoming technology advanced now finally, and the els sound system is beautiful, im a hifi audio enthusiast and I'm blown away by how it sounds and its in my ACURA factory.
@@femia.9298 yes the 3.7 is a gas guzzler. almost as bad as an MDX. my father always gripes about that. He commutes 50 miles for work everyday in his TL and he now has a Prius to drive every other day to make up for the mpg
I recently purchased one about 2 weeks ago. A 2012. It has a little over 71,000. I did feel the shudder you were talking about with the transmission. Took it to the dealer. Got them to do a flush and software update. She drives great now. I won’t lie I was concerned about the transmission but like you said it’s just how they drive. It feels like it’s very sporty type of transmission. After watching your video and you discussion the transmission I feel a lot better about it. Thanks for the video. Keep them coming....especially about the 2012 TL you have.
Hey I am also experiencing the same issue however I have the base model...Were there certain gears that the shuddering happened at? Mine happens between the 1st and 2nd gears then after that it is fine
@@samuelagyei8115yeah same here when I’m accelerating slowly, 3rd and 4th kind of bounce under 3k rpm. When I accelerate aggressive past 3k in those gears it shifts like a dream. When I drive at low rpms too under 10 miles an hour my throttle gives a “grindy” noise almost vibration like under 1.5k rpms. Car has had no issues so far, 160k miles, I’m the second owner and bought it in 2020 with 110k miles.
I recently purchased a 2012 advance and i have to say, the more i drive it, the more impressed i am with it. After 30 plus years in the car business i know a nice car when i drive it and this is a nice car. It does everything well. Thanks for the vid Sir.
My first car was the 06 TL Tech, next car was the 12 TL Tech loved both. Now on a 19 RDX ASpec. Just can't beat Acura styling, performance, reliability and value for money.
ThaDopeShow his was also $8k with 191k miles. Oil consumption yes there is we knew about it going into it so we bought an extended warranty and are about to get them involved regarding getting it fixed.
ThaDopeShow even with almost 200k miles? We were also worried about the prop shaft. The extended warranty was only worth it to us as my close friend had an accord 2009 that burned oil too and they paid for new rings and all new internal parts even timing chain
I have 2013 tl sh-awd, with only 32454 miles. Bought it with 7500 hundred miles. I've done rear diff, front and transmission drain and refill. The good thing is I'm not friends with a Honda mechanic. He's awesome. Love my Tl and the way it handles around curves, it's awesome.
Thank you for the review of the 4G TL! I currently have a 2006 3G TL with 175K as my daily, I'll probably look at the 4G when I'm ready for my next ride!
I had this exact car. I was t boned in it and it was totaled. I went and bought a Lexus 2018 nx300. I missed my Acura TL so much . Recently I traded the Lexus for a 2012 Acura TL awd in white. I’m so astatic. I finally have my car back.
@@danielramotowski5187 and they're also worse on gas mileage it seems. But i also live in a very snowy region in the winter and ppl generally recommend the sh-awd due to better driving experience it seems, but i still can't decide between the two lol
I own a 11 6MT AWD and I love it. However, when I test drove the fwd I really liked how smooth the ride was. As opposed to the sportier awd model which felt like riding in those old wooden roller coasters. Pretty harsh
I have just bought a 2010 TL SH-AWD ASPEC & TECH with 6SP MT in MINT condition and yep it is sporty and luxurious, but without being harsh...not one bit...maybe the roads where you live are full of potholes and unequal surfaces....just saying...
The world's most reliable and sophisticated ride!! I have the black on black TL 2011!! I've got 197,000 Miles and I still race 2020 cars and smoke most in S mode!! Except a lamb I attempted race. I max out at 140, but he didn't leave me very far past 120mph😁
I have a 08 Accord v6 coupe/auto with 312k still runs and drives great. I'm looking for a 2012 thru 2014 one of these because I need more room. They are still around 13k at the dealerships with low miles.
@@Tai.S actually if it's the 3.7 then yes it absolutely needs premium. Owners manual specifically states premium required and lesser fuel can cause engine damage. Now I suppose if you are cheap and can use regular without pinging then you might be okay but then why get a car who's manufacturer specifically states premium required. Do you know more then the people who engineered this car?
When my car fully dies out on me. Im purchasing another in white w the technology package. Truthfully a highly underrated reliable piece of art this car is. Im telling you you cant go wrong w this car
I have the same year and is a teck pkg also, Im just coming up on 196,000......Love the car, couldnt ask for a better running car........CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR ACHIEVEMENT :)
@@jesusb9562 i wish! its been so hard to find a job these days. and knowone buys my merch so i dont have money to buy a car. i have my license just not enough fkr a car. 🥺😢
Nate, hands down one of the best rundowns on a TL Tech package. Love the way you're taking care of the vehicle. Recently purchased a 2009 TL Tech, with 175k. I'm in love with this car! I know most owners of Acura have maintenance done with the dealership, is there any advice you would give to someone who typically works on their own car? Pros and cons versus the dealership working on it? What should I be thinking about as far as things needing to be changed at the 200k mark? It was a 1 owner maintained by Acura service department.
I am the proud owner of a 4th gen 6mt and I can tell you these cars are pretty easy to maintain, you don't need to take them to a dealership or a mechanic for most things. In fact DON'T take your TL to a mechanic. see my channel for a video where the tech abused because it, he didn't know how to drive stick shift. 200k is timing belt, water pump, tensioners, spark plugs. That's the biggest/pricey maintenance this car has. do it Every 10 yrs or 105k. After that is pretty much just oil changes and maybe AT fluid
@@supersabrosinho can u tell visually when those services need done? I'm buying one 215k on it has all the services records but nothing on the major things u listed.
I have this car black on black and I love my car. Great problem free car mine is 2013 with 113k miles I recently changed all my brake calipers front and rear. But other then that no issues.
Funny coincidence: You filmed it on Feb 4th which is my birthday (which is tomorrow). And I'm watching this video because I am preparing for a possible purchase of one of these :) Looking for the top of the line: 2014 sh-awd with advanced package. Would be awesome to get one with manual transmission but it's really hard to find such example.
Im looking at a 2012 acura tl awd with 168k on it, looks well taken care of timing belt was just done & 4 new tires with alignment . They are asking 6k wondering if you think its worth it & if there is anything i should be looking for?
I purchase the 2012 Acura TL for my son, who gone to college last year. It had only 42,000 miles on it, which was low mileage. A few month in, i replaced the front end suspension, replace arm control bar. Just last week, the car alternator died without warning, left my son stranded. The car now has 55,600 miles. I'm a bit disappointed since I've read so many good review for the reliability of this car, even over the current TLX model. Will see what can go wrong next. Hope it will give us 200K miles.
This is a good example of why it really is better to buy a higher mileage one. Cars like to be driven. I’m at almost 220k on mine and it has not had a single issue
Low miles and you already replaced front end suspension and control arm? Damn. You shouldn't be replacing those when it that low or the previous owner hasn't drive it that much.
@@kg888 I was extremely surprise with all the repairs since my previous 2003 MDX had no issues and got me 195,000+ miles. Anyway, after control arm, front end suspension, alternator. I had a recall for Torque Converter. Took to the dealer, they said that they will perform the service but in order to do so, they will need to replace several other components in order to get to the torque converter, it will costs about $2,300. At that point, I gave up on the car and got a great deal for a trade-in. They gave me my purchase price for trade-in which was $17,200. If anyone remember back in 2020 - car trade in value was about $2,000 - $3,000 higher. I traded in for a certified used 2019 V6 TLX SH-AWD.
You mentioned you replaced the “intermediate shaft bearing”, thank you for sharing the symptoms. Did you use an OEM or aftermarket part? I see mine has a bit of grease on my CV area but all is working well at the moment.
Found a 2010 RL SH-AWD in excellent condition but 295k highway miles for 5k. That’s a lot of miles but do you think it would be a good purchase? Things I could look for?
oh yea i wouldnt have got the car if i couldnt. the car just acts as if its bluetooth headphones that technology was pretty well developed when the 2009 TL came out
I am switching from 2015 Subaru wrx to something else and i’m looking into buying a 2012 Acura TL technology package for 14k but they are offering me 11k it only has 73k miles on it. Is that a great deal? Is the part that you replaced happen to all Acura’s? Btw great video!
It’s just a wear item. But it’s pretty uncommon for them to fail. I have an MDX and my father has an identical TL without the issue. Are they offering to sell you the 12 TL for $11k or is that the offer for your WRX?
I just bought a 2013 TL with 84.000 miles but not a technology package. Looks just like the one you showed on the video. Same color and interior and the only difference is the navigation system and the automatic start . Do u think with 84k I should do a transmission oil change?
Joseph Koroma absolutely! I would change it 3 times if it has not been done in the last 40k miles. After you do that simply drain and fill 3 quarts every 15k miles or every other oil change if you intervals are 7500 or your going off maintenance minder
Thinking to buy the 2011 Acura TL sh awd with technology package for $10,500 and has 101k miles on it. Do you thinks its a good deal? or shall I negotiate?
How many miles did you buy it with and how much did you pay? There’s a 2014 with 130k on it for 11700k on it .. used car market is insane seems pricey but yours gives me confidence,, I think it’s price is high but that’s the market
Just bought a 2010 SH-AWD with the 6-speed manual 110k miles for $12k. Hard to find one with a stick, but well worth it. People like to charge the maximum for them even with high mileage, but keep looking.
I have a 2012 sh-AWD just Under 80k miles. When should I change the timing belt? It’s been 10 years but low miles? Can I wait till 90k? Car runs great.
I drive a 2013 with only 61k miles.. The manual says do it at 100k miles.. nothing about years.. gonna do it next spring regardless of mileage just to be safe.
Is great car ..i had one issue with it..that i can't connect Bluetooth to my cellphone when i bought it it was working fine then it stopped to connect..i did everything nothing
Interesting. Never heard of that problem. I’ve heard of older Acura’s having that didn’t have BT Audio have issues but I’ve always wondered that about our TLs
Дядя Федя it’s just a noisy motor. The 3.5 and 3.7 in my mdx sound the same. Even after the valve adjustment. There was only one intake valve that was loose. After everything was back in spec it was still noisy but had a little more power(slightly though not much). The 3.2 is a lot quieter from what I remember my 02 TL sounding like
