2012 Honda Odyssey Popping, Knocking or Creaking in the Front While Turning at Low Speeds 

Mine was the sway bar link. After taking the tire off I could turn the wheel while touching the sway bar link and feel it pop. After changing with a Moog k750304 from Advance auto it’s fixed.

Awesome video thank you very much! Own a 2012 odyssey with the same symptoms. It's already out of warranty but hopefully this would help with the squeaking noise from front suspension. I'll give it a try.

I had creaking, starting about a year ago, when turning at low speed and accelerating from a stop in a 2010 Odyssey (model year prior to that addressed by TSB 11-038). Greasing the top of the front struts resolved it. I'm surprised that the strut bump stops are in contact with the top of the strut body. Maybe that happens as the springs age and sag a bit? I used Honda Shin Etsu silicone grease, as described in TSB 11-038. Any silicone grease is likely just as good, but this was a good excuse to get myself a tube of Honda's famed Shin Etsu silicone grease. p.s. I didn't check the strut nuts, there was no need, but I have had one loosen on another car and it produced a distict clunk noise that was nothing like the creaking noise caused by bump stops contacting the strut damper body.

Did this didn't work. Finally brought it in to Honda. The customer service guy knew exactly what it was and said that he sees a couple vans a month with the problem. The splines on the shaft of the steering column need to be greased. His opinion was that when it was assembled they put too little grease and it dries out. They fixed the issue and no more popping, creaking or pinging. They charged me $189 and took 3 hours. I'll call that a win. :)

You may need to tighten the front center nut on struts also there’s been issues with them coming un-torqued & it causes a popping sound also my 2011 Odyssey EX was lose on the drivers side.

I knew someone that had one of these for 3 Days with less than a thousand miles on it and it started doing that. the dealer did a warranty replacement on the column and the new one started doing it after 6 months.

It’s also the steering knuckle by the gas pedals too you also need to grease that too here n there it’s annoying as the front struts are

I have the same issue is this a permanent fix or how can fix this for good. Dealer has said this a normal thing but I high doubt it. I will use grease hopefully this will take care of the issue. I have a 2012 Honda Odyssey.

You should’ve shown putting on the grease. Also what kind of grease did you use?

I live in an apartment building and my 2013 Odyssey, whenever going up in floors on the parking lot and I turn the wheel to the left, I hear a clunking noise coming from what seems to be the right front suspension. I thought it was the CV joint, but after seeing this, I'm not too sure now. This seems to be an easy fix since Honda wants to charge me $135 just to diagnose the noise. However, if I do bring the TSB to them, they should do it for free no?

What! The wheel pivots left and right on two points, the lower ball joint and the strut bearing at the top of the spring. Its either one or the other part making noise while turning the wheel. Normally the strut bearing is bad if popping noise while turning. Look up bad strut bearing video to see spring binding and popping because of bad bearing.

01 odyssey. At highway speed the van veers right when foot taken off accelerator. The steering wheel a actually ticks slightly left when this happens. Then the van corrects itself when accelerator is pressed again. And goes back to straight. There is tiny tie-rod play both sides. Tires have even wear. Van cluncks front left when accelerating after coming to a complete stop. Front and upper right motor mounts were just replaced. My nephew replaced both struts and springs about a month ago. Passrnger side vertical control arm bushing has some cracking. Van has 191,000 miles. All rubber suspension bushings were replaced at 135,000. Plus motor and tranny mounts.

Did this, didn't work. Replaced both struts, didn't work. At a loss now. Sounds like a creaky pirate ship when I'm turning at low speeds, and gets worse if I hit the gas slightly. I think it's the CV axles. We'll see....

Tried this, didn’t work for me. If your Ody sounds like an old pirate ship with creaking at low speed turns it’s the drive axels and wasn’t too bad to fix.

issue is within the steering column typical foreign junk get rid of it before the trans explodes.
