this still brings a tear to my eye. I waited my entire life this moment and when it finally happened, I was overwhelmed w/emotion. the 2012 team will never be forgotten. amazing run.
I waited so many years for this to happen! I was born in Inglewood @ Cent Hospital. I was living in Fresno at the time and had all my neighbors and even some of Fresno police rocking out when they finally won! A few patrols stopped by just to say congrats! I was very happy it happened then my dad died a little while later!
Much deserved win from a Devils fan, what a great story this team had, and the characters in that room. This is what a great team is, and they caught fire at the right time!
Man let me tell you, it was so exciting for us fans! By the time we got to the Devils, I just had hoped it would be a swift series to grab our first cup! Thanks for the sportsmanship!
If you think about it, both the Kings and Hawks could have threepeated, they just happened to get in the way of each other for two years in a row. Doesn’t matter which eastern team made it to the dance. No one was stopping those two teams at the time, they were just built different. And I’m saying that begrudgingly as a Tampa fan who still remembers how soul crushing 2015 was lol. As good as that series was we really never stood a chance, it was the era of Hawks and Kings.
These championship videos never break new ground and always follow the same boring formula, but this one is probably the best one I have seen produced. For a Red Wings fan that had adopted a certain west coast franchise to be his 2nd favorite team, that was one fun year of hockey.
It really sucks that this team doesn’t get the recognition it deserves across the world of sports cause it’ll either never happen again or not for a long long time
I agree homie. I have never been much of a kings fan tbh but I will admit the 2 runs they went on were fun to see especially the first in 2012. I mean in 2012 they were the 8th seed in the regular season who BARELY made the playoffs and the Vancouver Canucks had back to back president's trophies and nearly won the cup entirely the year prior against Boston. No one not even myself thought the kings would get even close to a cup given that they were the second wild card who just barely made it in and I thought the Canucks would go deep again or even the second seeded Blues but man was I proven wrong for someone who was only 9 years old in the spring of 2012 lol. This run really showed me that ANYTHING can happen come when it comes to playoffs. Standings for regular season only give you home ice advantage other than that the standings in the regular season doesn't mean much at all. This mini dynasty from 2011-2016 was certainly a fun one to see since not many dynasties happen often.
As a Canucks Fan that series the Kings definitely showed that the Canucks time and Sedins was at an end. We got man handle in that series man were they a good team
I love this team. The trades and call ups worked perfectly and this team transformed itself into a machine. And the machine rolled through the playoffs. First time champions forever!!!
I absolutely love the la kings... To me,the 93 cup run,was like a victory. May have been the last time a Canadian team han sniffing it for a very long time
Game 1 felt good in 1993. Gave me confidence as I listened on AFN Radio in Germany. Thought we had a chance. Even with the L it was good to hear my Kings in the finals for the first time. #GKG
All those hits all those now (1k+) games played i believe the greatest captain of them ALL & I mean ALL NHL, i was there at his draft i knew he was going 1 b the foundation of these 2 cups we all felt something special even at 18 years old myself my brothers I believe every Kings fan knew this guy was something unique, DB, a genetic hockey marvel. I have this crazy idea since most all r still playing , we would need a gutsy out side the box owner, leader, manager but lets bring them back for 1 more fact is i truly believe they all had some unfinished business i really believe that, they should have had 3! What a run (both times!) 41 years my 1st game i was 8 i still sometimes cant believe it all. The way they won both, 1st ever last seed, 1st in decades 2 come from 3 down, 1st ever 3 times game 7 on the ROAD, THANK U GUYS SO MUCH!
In the St. Louis series, seeing how much the Kings were checking in the Neutral Zone was just incredible. In all the years I have been watching Kings Hockey, never have I've seen the Kings this aggressive in the Neutral Zone!
As a Bruins fan, watching you guys crush the arrogant Canucks and their psycho fanbase puts a smile on my face for sure! Congrats to that team. I'm glad that the next cup winners directly after my Bruins were also a group of players that overcame the odds after a very long cup drought. Sucks to see you get knocked out this year by the Edmonton Connor McDavid's.
@@reece5730 Who in recent memory had a better run than this though? The only two teams I can think of are the 07 Ducks or, going way back now, the 95 Devils. However, that Ducks team was stacked as fuck, everyone expected them to win the cup that year. This Kings team wasn’t as stacked and had no home ice advantage as an 8th seed and still steamrolled everyone.
@@reece5730 I’m not giving you shit or anything. It’s just that off the top of my head I can’t think of a more impressive run tbh. This Kings team really floored me at the time.
I can still close my eyes and see Trevor Lewis picking Hamhuis' pockets and getting the puck over to Stollie streamin' down the left side and scoring that game winning goal over the Canucks. They had been the President's Trophy Winners and our guys were also-rans? It was an impossible dream wghich could've gone either way for the Kings. But they won. I kind of felt sorry for the Canucks...right up until the Kings celebration behind the gaol and that fat-as(*& white Canucks fan giving them the finger. From their on out, my sympathy was gone forever. But I cried at the end and did it again when the won the Cup. It was truly an answer to my prayers-I didn't think I'd live long enough to see it happen!
Gregory Michaels I feel like it’s the hardest championship to win in all the sports. There’s always so much parody. It’s amazing the Kings won 2 in 3 years
As a fan of the #DetroitRedWIngs, I was rooting, pulling for the #LosAngelesKings to win #TheStanleyCup! I was angry when the #NewJerseyDevils had upset the #NewYorkRangers in the #NHLEasternConferenceFInals 😠😤😡 Moreover, I am still NOT over 1995! 😠😤😡
Good player. But I never liked him. Maybe Because I'm Canadian and he wasn't as good as Carter and Richards. But he is just a weirdo to me..maybe it's his face lol. But still he plays like a Canadian. Very hard player. And I have upmost respect for his game
Too bad Mike Richards developed a drug addiction... would of had a third if he stayed clean. Lost the center depth when he got kicked off the team. Forced carter to play center when he is a pure shooter.
That was the owner at the time's fault. He was desperate for money to cover businesses outside the team. Even then Edmonton wouldn't have stayed together forever
It was not the stick that lost the series in 93 it was Kelly hrudey look at that overtime attempt save look what he attempted to do was it 2 pad stack save, absolute worst thing any goalie could ever do that is the reason Gretzky and the Kings never won the cop that year it was Kelly hrudey and that showboating trying to be better hey look at me I put myself before the team one-hundred-percent it was not Marty
