I'll never forget being at work and hearing Nick Nickson on the radio saying "After 45 years, the Kings can wear their crown!" I yelled so loud and ran around the place like an 8 year old. What a moment.
Those last five minutes were magical in the stands, too. Hugging total strangers, no one with dry eyes, laughing, screaming, crying. Amazing moment. 90+ year-old man in my section couldn't speak anymore, but had made a small sign reading "44-year wait, but it was all worth it." We all lost our voices that night. I will never forget how it felt.
Johnny Quick throwing his stick celebration is kind of epic!!!! Best part for me is watching yet another Sioux alum lifting the Cup...congrats Kings and especially Matt Greene!! Sioux yeah yeah!!!!
I remember the general manager Dean Lombardi from his playing on a NEJHL ,New England junior hockey league Springfield Mass. Olympics in the 1970s. Who woulda thought then he would be up in the ranks of NHL GM's one day and in L.A.
Having been a Kings fan since the days of the Cowboy and the Jet and Jiggs and Ed, and then when we lost with Gretzky, I honestly thought if we couldn't win the Cup with the greatest, how are we ever going to win it. WOW, was I ever wrong. Even though my kid and I bought bogus tickets to the game and got shut out down town, it didn't matter. You could hear the roaring of the crowd for each of the three powerplay goals. That was special.
Bob Miller: The Los Angeles Kings Are Indeed! Jim Fox: (Hand's Clapping) Bob Miller: The Kings Are National Hockey League! Nick Nickson: After 45 Kings Can Win Their Crown! Bob Miller: The Countdown Is On 3,2,1! It's Over!
I remember at the start of he third period, 20 minutes just seemed like an eternity. I knew Quick wouldn't give up 3 or 4 more goals, but I counted down the time in groups of four minutes. After 8 minutes were left, I felt pretty good, but when Lewis got the puck to score on the empty net, I hadn't noticed that NJ had pulled Brodeur. When he got that goal, I knew it was over, and I couldn't hold back the tears at that point. Such a magical run!!
that final 5 minutes, i had flashbacks of my whole life as a kings fan, most of those years not being in the playoffs. then seeing them lift the cup. that's something
Kings fan since 1975, I was nine-years-old back then. I was more than glad to take my own sip of bubbly out of Lord Stanley's Mug after waiting 37 years for us to win it all. My late mother was not as fortunate, dying of brain cancer in 2000. Although I moved in Port Townsend, Washington in 1987, I still remember my old days as a kid having season tickets to the Kings at the Fabulous Forum from 1977-87, and to this very day I still am "Tried And True To The Gold And Forum Blue".. GO KINGS GO!!!
That moment was unlike anything I've ever experienced before. I'm only 18, so obviously I haven't waited since the 80's, the 70's, or the 60's like most Kings fans have. But I was around when the Kings were the bottom basement feeders, not making the playoffs, becoming pretty much a joke to the NHL. When that final buzzer hit, it was like all of that didn't matter anymore. We were Stanley Cup champions, it's something my dad (who's been a fan since Wayne Gretzky) and I will never forget.
Oh my god. So amazing. I love this team. Kings fans, I love you all. Absolutely unreal, amazing, truly fantastic. I wish I was in Staples center for this one. I'll never forget where I was though. I'll never forget the feeling. It's still there inside me and these cup moments have invoked it over and over again. Thank you Kings Vision. Amazing series of videos. Thank you Kings, for the legendary playoff run. Thank you Kings fans for sharing this experience with me. GO KINGS GO!
When the Kings won this first Stanley Cup I had been a Kings fan for close to 27 years. I thought when Gretzky came to the Kings we would finally win one but, it was not meant to be. This end for me was unbelievable. To do it in a blow out game was just the icing on the cake! I dropped to the floor in my living room and openly wept like a little kid! I will always put my heart and soul into this team! To me the Kings 2 Stanley Cups will always be special to me! I would Love it if they have at least 1 more before I go home! I believe we need another goalie like Quick to give us a chance! GO KINGS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i cant believe we did it, it seems so unreal, it makes me cry everytime, and now were back at the playoff push, repeat anyone?? i say YESS!!! GO KINGS GO!!!!!
Still brings tears of joy to my eyes!!!..Just like it was yesterday!!!...NEVER GETS OLD!!!...Do it again in 2014!!!..GO KINGS GO!!!...GO KINGS GO!!!!...\m/
It's pretty amazing that the Kings held on to most of their talent after that amazing cup run in 2012. And to think they're still one of the top picks to win it all. That's something you, as a Kings fan, can be proud of.
I'm very proud for sure!..And we still have a reletively young nucleous of players and some good Prospects down in Manchester and Ontario Respectively...So I'm confident we'll be Cup contenders for years to come...
I’m so glad that i was able to experience this as an adult, it’s just such a special moment of pride, appreciation, and respect for your favorite team and the city you love so much. I was 8 yrs old when the Dodgers won the World Series and even tho i was already a huge dodger fan, as an 8 yr old you don’t truly comprehend the hard work and all the little things that makes the team you LOVE champions. All you really know is that your team won it all. With the Kings winning the Stanley cup when they did just made it so special, and I’m just so very great full to have witnessed it as an adult. Thanks guys for that awesome season. Now all I need before I die is for the Dodgers to win it all at least one more time, then and only then will be able to say that I lived a complete life.
Man, I still giggle when I watch this. Even when we were up by 5, it still wasn't over. I was texting with a friend and when it got to 0:10 I texted "OMG OMG OMG OMG"
I am happy for the Kings, they deserved it. We won 3 cups you guys haven't won 1,than in those finals seconds you guys won. I was killed inside but knew the better team won so congrats kings fans and everyone on the kings! Go Devils though. :)
Honestly? If I could have only one wish in my entire life, but only it meant that it would be the last day of my life...I would have wished to have been at Staples Center on June 11th, 2012 to experience this.
LOLOL. 6:49 what is with the fucking awful CGI gatorade placement. It looks so bad, not even remotely decent product placement. that aside... love to watch this moment over n over.
i would love to now what mitchel said to nolan and king musta beeen like u fuckers i waied 10 20 years u fuckers win 4 months after ur first game :P i can die now i never thought i would get this and for us to smash vanhoover cant be better it like winning 2 cups in 1 year
no its quite obvious actually. out of all the long term contracts i.e hossa, luongo are the two that come up to my head, they fineed only the devils yet other teams have similar contacts. also i remembered in game 4 clarkson was called a boarding on dustin brown and it was a really weak call in the finals. Sorry i am just noting the obvious because you are a bandwagon fan and do not know much about hockey which is ok.
Actually, he left after 2012. He's the Maple Leaf's President. He also talked shit on LA. So again he's a traitor. Hope he has fun with his new team. Bahah
bettman and the refs helped you. bettman hates the devils and did everything in his power for the kings. the kings championship is probably the most meaningless in all of sports.
