2013 Renault Megane MK3 1.5 DCi Engine K9K LOSS OF POWER no DTC's

For a good 8 months now I've noticed a gradual loss of power no DTC's with my 2013 Renault Megane MK3 1.5 Dci Engine K9K, because the vehicle is a work horse and still ok to drive i didn't worry too much and put it down as probably age related stuff, at this current moment it has 253K miles and until now specially in the last few months I've definitely felt like it was getting much worse like the turbo wasn't contributing that much anymore and clutch was slipping.
Now when i was getting the clutch replaced i came across something that could be behind the problem, i decide to remove the air box and intake pipe and for my luck i've noticed the it was quite badly damaged, straight away i gave my local Renault dealer a call and found out it cost around £140 new, checked my Ebay used market store 😎 and came across a used hose that came out from a Mercedes A-Class in really good condition for £17 and i went for it...
Regarding the test i did with the RPM and Air Intake measurements i wish i also had there the ENGINE TORQUE and EGR figures but anyhow you can probably a good idea of what it was going on, which I believe a very lean fuel to air ratio making the car super sluggish ....

Thanks for sharing where the air was bypassing the airflow sensor. Your fuel trims were @1:47 Fuel flow correction cylinder No.11 No.21 No.31 No.41 respectively.

I really don't understand that! For key workers it's more important to keep their children home so they're not out picking it up and bringing it home. I understand that some may not have an alternative but the ones who do should be given the choice. I don't think Boris gets that concept 🙄 Normal rules don't apply right now, you do what you have to do to keep your wife and child healthy 😉♥️

Good for you yours is driving lovely. mine is a 2010 one. Every winter I have trouble with it. It judders every time I accelerate uphill, especially on the motorway and suddenly loses speed and smokes like it choked. The stop + engine failure hazard + wrench comes up for less than a minute and says check ESP then we can continue being friends. In summer I don't feel it doing these tricks and I can feel the power and sinking-in-seat effect. What could be the problem with megane?

False air frustrations. Maybe opening the split to a greater or lesser degree as the engine torques on its mounts. Sorted. Cheers Igor...Nice Vid.

It also might have a tendency to close when it's pulling a lot of air,due to the suction.

Nice find. This effect of kg/h rising by itself when idling is egr valve opening and closing. You could probably try to clean egr valve to gain more power. It is known issue on k9k engines.

Thanks mate, absolutely when I was quickly touching the accelerator the EGR was opening slightly I guess, I wish I had to put the EGR figures on the screen ... cheers 👍👍👍

Great video, I've picked up one of those autels and there's not much help out there besides yourself and Luis from LM Auto's, I'm just an hobbyist happy to keep me own motor purring along, they're packed full of info if only the data was easily available to match it too .... Thank you for your vídeos, i had a similar problem loss of power on the engine and lake of power on the turbo, cleaned MAP and MAF sensor cleaned turbo with a turbo cleaner spray and the car looks new now 100,000 miles and still looks good engine power thank you for your vídeos I could do it myself thank you very much again

Wow,235k miles is very respectable mileage for them motors. I have Scenic IIIph2 2013 with 1.5 110 hp k9k 636,148k miles. Factory turbo and clutch.Engine runs perfectly so far,no oil consumption,exhaust is clean ( good sign,Fap filter is working well)

270k miles now 😊 , no doubt my best vehicle so far , I’ve only had to replace a couple sensors , new clutch and the usual wear and tear brakes and so on , superb motor 👍

@@CarsExposed Same here,except the fap pressure sensor and those rubber pipes next to it i didnt touch anything under the bonnet ,except the usual wear&tear.Got the car with 90k miles from main dealer over 2 years ago,so i did put a fair mileage on her(went trough Europe ,etc.)My brake pedal is getting a bit soft lately.Changed frond discs&pads,braking fluid,issue is still there. I suspect that ABS pump is going,or there is still air in the system. Will try to bleed the pump with PyClip eventually.Braking power is good,just pedal is soft.Great car otherwise

Good day mate. Have you ever had to replace the turbo ? Asking because I have the same car now and mechanics just told me that the turbo seals are starting to go. I doesnt affect the drive much for now but there is a horrible noise arround 1800 rpm when in cruize mode. If you have any info about parts or DYI guide I will be grateful. Cheers

I haven’t had to replace the turbo yet , the car currently has 278k on the clock , I haven’t got a guide how to replace it but the cheapest way to get the seals done is to replace the whole cartridge/core … 👍

How are you doing Thank you for your videos on this model I wonder if you can rate this car model 1.5dci Is it worth buying it and any downside of those versions Like turbo , engine oil leaks, etc. I found one 2011 1.5dci 110KM it looks alright just need some TLC suspension brakes etc Thank you for your comments

Did you had any problems with start (cold or hot)? I have loss of power in 1.5 dci 110 Laguna 3. What I noticed is lowered top speed (170 instead 190 km/h) and I have to start the engine about 3 seconds. Pressure on CR rail low increase during start.

@@musguelha14 in my case it was: broken insulation on injector wires + their plugs, broken exhaust gases temperature sensor (it gives data but not real) + its plug, cut/damaged wire on the turbocharger electronical valve (next to the air filter). I made new cabling and car behaves much better. My max is 180 km/h now but I still wait for this exhaust gases temperature sensor so it is not finished but way better.

Hi mate, I have an issue with my car Nissan Juke 1.5 DCI 2011 diesel for months now the car initially starts and when hot it will shot off when cold it will start normal so I decided to check the fuel pressure sensor take it off and clean and fix after which the car doesn’t start anymore. I taught it was the high pressure pump I bought another the same issue. I have change the engine the same , what I have find out is that there is no ground on the car the wires that are supposed to be ground a supplying 4.5v, a lol the 12v are ok 5v ok but no but ground 4.5v

Big mistake, and illegal (as everything is!!) in lots of places; the air filter box is a muffler too; it will be noisy,you'll regret it...

Hi I have megane 3 1.5 dci 2010 106hp no dpf.When I start the engine (the engine is warm) i see black smoke coming from the exhaust and no matter if the engine is cold or warm i get black smoke every time.Injectors are good what could be the problem ?

hi, i have a renault laguna 2010 1.5 diesel., when i drive over 125km/ph i get "check injection system" .. it also makes a whine/whistle noise!! i checked that big Turbo Air Intake Pipe and i can see alot of oil on it and near the seal to the turbo... could that be the problem i am having ?

I would guess there is a problem with the turbo perhaps bearing etc they are likely to leak ....

Cars Exposed little loss of power and yes a whistle/whine noise while acceleration only when driving.. also when i reach over 125km/ph i loose all turbo power and car is sluggish

Hi mate, I had the same problem, but on my car the sensor was the problem, I changed it I put a new one, but it's still a small problem: it works perfectly for about 2 weeks then it has periods when it loses power ( 20-30%) then it recovers. Do you think it could be another problem that would damage my sensor (I mention that the first time I bought a used one and after 2 months it gave up, then I bought the new one)

I have the 1.5dci 6 speed auto box. Had the car from new ( 2014 ). The box has always been troublesome as it’s all electronic. It screams in 1st or 2nd gear then lags If you need to pull off. Had the parameters reset so many times but no difference. I know it preselects the next gear but it should recognise when you slow down at something like a roundabout then put your foot down to go, it lags and doesn’t go straight away Had a few times when something is coming towards me and the cat doesn’t want to go lol

Lol yeah I hate those manual gearboxes with electronics actuators they are not very nice to drive like the proper automatic ones , I did own one for about 4 years and I always used the flappy paddles instead, it was a little bit more bearable with the flappy paddles 👍

Some how you have to accommodate the sensor after the filter so the car can calculate air/fuel mix ratio 👍

I have a Dacia duster 2016 1.5dci same engine i believe. The intercooler to throttle body pipe came off the clip popped off so I’ve had to temporarily cable tie it on as it was the same no turbo lack of power. After repairing it the amber management lights are on since it happened. Is there anyway they can be put off or is it a garage job

Anyone know how to permanently disable the ESP on the Renault Megan 3? My car is pulling to one side when changing gear. Who ever thought of a car breaking when I don't put my foot on the brake was a madman 😐

I think you have a bigger issue Renault would never send a car out that pulls to one side while changing gear 😂

I have the same car, same engine with 150k miles and I have a small issue with it. As the temperature got up to 20-ish degrees these last few days I noticed the cold engine idle was fluctuating a bit. Right after a cold start it idles funny. Doesn't sound like a misfire, it's more as if I was pressing the throttle and letting go immediately. Glow plugs check good, plus it didn't have this problem during the winter. The problem disappears after 30 seconds at idle. Drives fine. Could that be EGR related?

ast5515 Very interesting I guess if the EGR is sticking closedish that could happen the part I don’t understand is the change of temperature affecting it, what I’ve seen before is electronics componentes failing more specific cracked soldering joints with the rise in temperatures ... my approach is always look into the live data and try to see anything out of the ordinary...

@@CarsExposed I'm planning to but a friend borrowed my scan tool and due to the virus he still has it. I checked some of the vacuum hoses I could see, all of them are fine. The EGR is a pain in the ass to get off on these. I sure hope it's not that.

ast5515 crazy times with this virus mate... Someone asked me to do a EGR vídeo with this Megane, I saw the EGR when I was doing the clutch and I hope I don’t need to touch it anytime soon it’s in a really awkward place ... I hope you EGR is ok 👍

@@CarsExposed To remove egr you need to remove turbo and air inlet pipes. When this 2x pipes are removed egr goes out easily. Will you upload clutch change video?

Hi I have a renault magane sport tourer 1.5 dci dynamic i had anti pollution system an check injection system i have had a forced regen new glow plugs a new exhaust pressure sensor the anti pollution system light has gone off but the check injection system still there an put the car in limp mode is there anything else that could be the reason I keep getting pending p1454 code no other codes

@@CarsExposed yes its perfect when the code is cleared !! I start the car it appears so I turn it of an on again an its gone but sometimes stays till I turn it off an on again a couple of times an just keeps doing it
