I,m still working at it..Glad you said turn it to my left. On a previous model G M,someone tightened the cable by turning it to the right. Bad news when the cab,e is jammed. Fourhour job at minus 25.

I did that today because the spare was flat for probably a LONG time. The frame was ingrained into the tire so it wouldn’t hold air. Had to have the bead resealed. The moral of the story is….CHECK YOUR SPARE TIRE! It may be flat and useless when you need it most.

Hello. I’m trying to loosen the nut for the spare tire and it only goes a left a few turns and then like locks up and stop turning. The cable drops a little bit but then like I said will not continue to rotate left after a few turns. It’s just the cable, the spare tire isn’t underneath. 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 someone help lol I want my spare tire returned to its correct place

Man, what a stupid way to make that lock. What if you break your ignition key pulling that thing out of there? Not sure why they have to keep on making simple things so complicated. Thanks for sharing this, though !!

My gmc didn’t come with the tools where can i find them? I only had the jack wished i had checked

2016 Manual was written by Martians! Manual says jack is behind the seat not under it and in the table of contents under "Jack" it only mentions Auxiliary then sends you to a page for a place to connect Auxiliary Jack Items like Laptop or Audio Music Player...nothing about a Jack to jack up the truck!

You did not finish your job. You can not drag that cable and junk down the road, when it wears out in might kill some one.
