Modding the Ram 1500 with a cabin air filter as our the 4th gen rams don’t come with one. How to install this mod, easy mod to keep gunk out of the climate system. Took me 5 minutes with Dremel. I recommend using a Dremel to save a lot of time.
Tune to 0:50 to start the process of mod.

Dude! Thank you apparently my 2012 had this issue. Just got in the filter and cover then saw that it was covered up. Was just about to give up on it.. 😂😂👍👊

Hot razor knife blade knife works if you don’t have a dremel. You have to keep reheating the cutting tip but it works!

Even when you vacuum, if you use a Dremel or saw, little bits of plastic will end up in the fan. One set of instructions said to remove the fan so that wouldn't happen. I like the idea of heating a good utility knife. Clean cut, cuts like butter, no debris.

All 17s have the filter and it’s super easy to install it’s behind the main glove box

I traded the 14 in for a 19 and yeah it has it which is good. Don’t know why they decided to leave it out for certain years...

Thanks. I know it's straight forward, but still wanted to see little bit of what you cut and such.... But okay. Other thing how do you like that bullet. I got two different kind, different make. But I didn't have as much channels as the factory. Like Thai one I have now it's missile. Same problem, so really third one..

Understood and the bullet was okay and no longer have. The channels weren’t the best but used Apple Music most of the time. Friends that have the bullet experience the same issues.

Just got the bullet. If I’m in the city it works pretty normal. But when I am out at friends/family in the country it’s trash. So just use Apple Music then. Definitely not the same as the OEM long silver antenna though 100%

Hey thanks for the heads up. These products on Amazon say it doesn’t fit a 2014 Ram 1500 though. How’s that?

Because it’s a mod that shouldn’t have to be done and Ram should have one from factory. How the parts in the link work and not too bad to install. I no longer have the 14 Ram and the new Ram pickups have them from factory thank goodness.

You loose all cabin air pressure, you need a oxygen mask while in the vehicle now.

There’s nothing behind it and I took a Dremel with a bit that was about 1.5 inches and followed the outline shown in the vid. Let me know if you have any questions and I can try to help.

If you turn 1:46 up until 1:52 you can see the outline for the new plastic piece to fit into. Let me know if you have any other questions, thank you for stopping by.

I have a 2016 2500 Ram and I had to cut mine out. Now unfortunately my fan vibrates and have no idea why. Only on max fan. There was no filter either.

They brought the filter back with the newer gen and not sure why they left it out of the 4th.

I mean I guess it’s nice to have a little cleaner air for the cabin, but I feel like this addition would just restrict the air flow a litttle more. And we all know the backseat vents already dont put out enough lol

All you showed was spot where the cabin filter assembly is located! Before and final result was nice but wish you showed the actual entire process! That was the whole reason for my search and view of your post! Guess I gotta keep looking for the explanation of how to install the ‘C A B’ system that is apparently not an option on my 2013 dodge Ram! 🤷‍♂️🤨🤔😤

In my situation I find I learn better by watching all steps taken in respects a specific repair. If I’m left to my own ability to ‘fill in the missing segments’, I get lost! (My own lack of confidence is my weakness)! But I’m still learning and I think I can make it work if I go slowly and carefully. Thanx! 👍🏼🙏🤷‍♂️😎

See mine seems like it fits tighter on the left side....it seems like the door doesn't meet the other plastic on thr right side.

Justin Walker Anyway to shift it to the right? Definitely dont want air going into the glove box. Might have to shave some from top and bottom right with dremel and then see if it slides right more...if not duct tape any area exposed...as last resort.

AnayaNation Ram FAM nothing is exposed that door sits in the raised part it locks in ans everything obviously there is nothing holding top. I'm merely stating that the door doesn't literally touch the other plastic.

Sorry about that. You open it up and insert the new filter. Repeat with every oil change. Now I vaccuum mine and will replace every 15K miles with a new filter.

Agreed and they should have included this with the 4th Gen models. But no longer have the truck but in my 2019 PW, there is one built in :)

I’m not sure why they didn’t put one in for a few year in the Ram but modern Rams now have them again which is good.

It’s crazy for a few years on the 4th Gen they left it out and very inexpensive for them to include it. Luckily the mod is not too expensive to do.

It’s dumb and don’t understand why on some makes and models depending on year they don’t have them. The newer Ram trucks have them the older ones do too.
