working on it today. I purchased a filter and the mod cap is in the glove box. Looks like I am cutting tomorrow. Great job.

Thank you for this video, I went to go and put a cabin filter and I noticed just like yours sealed up, I did not know there was a kit, of which I just ordered it was a little more then I wanted to spend but its one time, next time I just need a filter, Thanks again for your instructional video it helped immensely .

Wow, awesome suggestion regarding the addition of an odor eliminator on the filter. I've never seen this done. Very cool. I own both a 2018 RAM 3500 dually, and an '18 NSX, so I'll be doing this with both. Cheers.

That's so crazy! In seven years, my husband said he's never changed his 2015 Ram Lonestar cabin filter. I got him one from AutoZone, and low and behold ... was told it didn't have one! Thanks for the great video ... sorry you cut your hand.

Thanks for your informative video. I didn't realize that I don't have a cabin filter on my 2015 Ram 1500. The dealership was going to charge me $78.88 before tax to "replace" it. I've never had a cabin filter on any of my vehicles and am going to opt out of installing one since it never had one to begin with.

Thank you for sharing, The soldering gun looks to big to get in to do the job and way to hot. I modified a Weller (pencil type) soldering iron tip to except a modified #11 Ex-ado blade and made a easy perfect cutout without any loose derby getting down into the fan. I cut down a new larger cabin filter I had left over from a car I sold on my band saw. Size 7.25" X 8" and about .75" thick. I used duct tape instead of the $18 leaky front plate with the easy to brake off plastic latches. Duck tape was designed for air ducks and a 9" strip seals tightly.

I got myself a 2013 Ram 1500 and I went out and bought an air filter expecting to change it.. boy, was I wrong lmao.

I am a single woman on disability and really didn't want to spend the money at the dealership to have my BOTH air filters replaced! Thank you, Thank you! Im kinda handy & like to do things that I can. Nothing to it. You were very clear and concise, and you REALLY helped me! Great instructions Sir! I also worked for Chrysler Academy and they have so .any accessories ONE available.

Beside filtering the outside air coming in because of allergies, it will help keep the heater core and AC evaporator (the outside of them) from plugging up with the dirt in the air. It is a pain to change them out for a lack of airflow at the vents

Would love to see a RAM 1500 done with a shaker style hood! I think that would be bad ass!

Gee wiz, I owned cars for decades before cabin air fiters became a thing and never suffered any negative consequences. My early '16 doesn't have the filter, and I'm not going to do this mod. Might be helpful to some people, such as if they are sensitive to dust and pollen, perhaps, so more power to them doing this. Ram sure cheaped out on their vehicles. Having the capability to have the filter in place while saving very little by not having it is a head scratcher.

Now I just called my maintenance guy to explain where he put the last cabin air filter he chargme now that I know my Ram comes without !

2017 they started coming from the factory with the cabin filter.

You cutting the inside or outside of the raised outline

The part you are cutting does have backwards tabs on the sides. What happens if you remove that cover instead of cutting it?

OMG!, I have been wondering how I can open and change the cabin filter of my 2015 ram. After watching your video, I realized that I had to do cutting. That's mean, the cabin airfilter of my ram has never been changed for 8 years 😢 I get it to inspection every 2 years and none of the machic bother to let me know 😒 Thanks for the video

I have to wonder how much debris I have in my vents because of no cabin filter. My truck is nine years old and I just discovered I do not have one. Personally I think it's tachy that for what these vehicles cost they do not have one. On another note, I would think the freshiner spray being used would attrack dust more and possibly make the filter become dirtier faster or perhaps clogged if you live in a dusty environment. Those do not come as a kit from ram. They are just two different part numbers. 6840648AA & 68052292AA The only Ram I've seen come with the cabin filter is the Rebel so far. I work for the parts department for a Ram dealership. Great video.

I just ordered a a kit off Ebay for under $9.00 . Also this is the second vid that there was a little issue with cover snapping in I noticed that the little spot center bottom was not trimmed out .

This videos was alot 9f help alot of the videos I watched just showed the cover but they didn't say that some years may not have one

Where do you get the Total Release spray from?

Trust me, a knife 🔪 with a sharp 3 inch blade and a good handle will let you cut through this with ease. Complete install in about 15 minutes. No dremel tool or sanding necessary. 👍🏼

That's very odd that they wouldnt have one but yet have a perfect outline to cut one out. Almost like they were at the factory like " ehhhh... the hell with it no need for a cabin air filter" lol. By the way I have a 16 ram and it came with the filter.

I nred to do this hack. However. What in the world is on top of the box? It looks like am air inlet. But a big space between it and the filter box. Any ideas? Thanks.

I just did this to my 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 and its actually pretty easy to install. I'm having problems with my dash board vents. There's no air blowing from there at all. What can the problem be? PLEASE HELP!!
