Your Legacy doesn't have gears as such. Its a CVT box. You can see the Legnum shifting, whereas the Legacy kinda just holds it's revs. The CVT is one continuous gear that is computer adjustable. They're insanely efficient! Have a Google :) Great Vid!
Interesting that the NZ version of the Gen5 2.5i has Si drive. I had the same car here in Australia, 2013 2.5i premium wagon. Nice car and I loved it but no power to speak of. Sadly, that car was wrecked when I accidentally drove it into the back of a truck. The happy ending is that I replaced it with a MY2014 GT. Now I have the same car, but with a turbo and a 5 speed AT. It goes from 0-100 in 5 seconds, which I enjoy every day.
I have a 5th Gen Legacy GT. I checked the code of my transmission and to my surprise, its not a CVT but a 5 speed Automatic. Having also owned a Subaru Crosstrek, it does feel very same the way it shifts
Good clip from Chitchy. I wonder how this would go against a 2wd 2.0 N/A Impreza given the weight difference. Paddle race only I guess since the Impreza doesn’t have SI drive I believe.
4th gen Leggy is much better than 5th gen anyway. 5th gen lost all of the key aspects that made previous subarus so fun to drive, alongside long running quirks like frameless windows. 4th gen had tons of aluminium used, 5th gen is bigger and all steel. Only aspect it improved in is interior practicality with more storage and better solution for folding rear seats from the trunk area. Aside of that it lost all of the charm handling wise, interior incredibly ugly, following the worsts of Toyota's mid 2000s styling, and its beginning of sickening focus on safety at cost of everything else. It's still a good car as utility goes but it's not a family sportscar anymore onwards from this gen.
